I love this place! Went for the first time on Monday, and it was amazing. I got the cilantro egg burrito, which was BIG and really filling for only $ 4. Also, get the veggie sausage. It’s the Also, the cook/cashier was also the owner, and she’s awesome! Definitely going to come back soon.

Great sandwiches. Great coffee. Inside seating is good enough. Outside seating sucks. Worst in DC. The giant spools suck! Really. I get that nobody wants to steal them. Nobody wants to sit at them either. They suck suck suck! Put in some nice seating outside and step up the seating inside and it would be a gem. For now it is cubic zirconia.

Dos Gringos has so much potential, unfortunately on the most important things it just doesn’t live up. PROS: Great vibe, community atmosphere, local/unprocessed food, good menu, fair prices, patio, home made ice cream… CONS: Food, cleanliness, and staff. Unfortunately, lots of the food is pre-made and then reheated in the microwave, so it ends up as an unappealing brownish blob without much flavor. I’ve seen roaches in the store. I’ve gotten stomach aches after eating their food. The staff(except for a cheerful woman I assume is the owner) are all pretty sullen, it seems like you are bothering them when you order. Dos Gringos could be so much better than it is, and Mt. Pleasant needs places like this, but sadly, things like food quality and cleanliness are hard to get around. If this place upped its game and cooked fresher food, I have a feeling it would be packed all day.

Our group of 3 went here on a Sunday for a what proved to be an early lunch. It is located in the beautiful Mt. Pleasant neighborhood and there is an antique store in the mezzanine level of the building. I ordered hot chocolate and a cilantro egg burrito and both were excellent. There were a lot of other people hanging out and the place exuded a chill vibe. It looks like the kind of place where you could sit and read a book while you keep ordering your favorite beverage of choice. I will definitely go back here if I am in D.C.

Dos Gringos is a Mt Pleasant gem. It’s cute, responably priced, and great service. It is a great place to stop and have a good bite to eat. They have lots of outside seating and some inside as well. You can even order your food to go, which is what I did. The breakfast menu has your typical options of wraps, bagels, eggs, etc. All their food and juice is made fresh. I tried their grapefruit juice it was delicious! What I also liked about Dos Gringos was the sense of community and feeling like you were eatting at friends not a restaurant. I will be coming here more often.

Adequate, just adequate so far. Prices are very low for DC, and it has a very anti-hip yet indie feel to it. I come because it’s just around the corner from my DC digs. Coffee and food are better at Tynan, a couple of blocks further, but I’m not always motivated enough to make it that far on weekends.

I don’t know why I keep on commin’ back for more. It’s always bad. This time, the tofu in my breakfast burrito was rancid. I should just stick to the coffee and the bagels. Their prepared food is the worst. My friends egg burrito was bad too.

This is a delightful little place with great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is pretty good, cheap, and vegetarian-friendly. A great place to sit around and people-watch!

Great food and coffee. Two stars because on the last few occasions I have visited Dos Gringos the staff sat outside smoking while I was trying to eat my food and they served me coffee in a dirty cup.

This was my first and likely last time trying Dos Gringos. I read good reviews for it, but my experience was pretty lacking. My wife and I both ordered the chipotle roasted tofu sandwiches, which sounded savory. It took over 30 minutes for our food to be prepared and it was bland and flavorless. It looks like they just brushed a little barbecue sauce on the tofu and put it on cheap French bread. No mayo or condiments — only a little lettuce. It was pretty gross. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but between the terrible food and slow service, I can’t give this place more than one star. There are so many better vegetarian options around, like Sticky Fingers.

Such an indie cutie café! And with the food and service quality to back it up. Our party — one vegetarian, one vegan, and three omnivores — came in for brunch. We were able to snag a table right away and headed up to the counter to order. The lady there was friendly and gave very helpful suggestions, and our food came out fairly quickly and around the same time — pretty impressive for such a small café with a tiny kitchen. The prices were also extremely reasonable — especially for DC. It’s pretty hard to spend more than $ 10 and the portions are quite generous. I was a little sad that they were out of the waffles, but after a few bites of the special vegetable enchilada, I forgot all about waffles. You can get decent waffles anywhere, but you can’t find soft, cheesy, sour cream-slathered tortillas stuffed with flavorful vegetables(and mushrooms!) just anywhere. They were so good, we almost ordered seconds. Instead we shared a warm cinnamon bun with frosting(that was basically butter), which was also delicious. The coffee wasn’t the best — it was on the weak side and my hazelnut coffee had only trace amounts of hazelnut flavor. However, the friendly and surprisingly prompt service, the reasonable prices, and the high quality of the food really won us over.

Horrible microwaved food and mediocre coffee. If you want food go to Le Caprice on 14th. If you want coffee go to Flying Fish at Mt. P and Irving. There is no reason to go to this place

This is the only non-bougie café I’ve found in dc. Great atmosphere and plenty of affordable options. A great place to get a sandwich and read for a while.

I’m very tardy writing my review. I’ve been eating at, or getting food to go for years — longer than I’d like to admit. Everything about Dos Gringos is great — fresh coffee, excellent breakfast choices as well as lunch and dinner time food. The quality is great — always fresh and homemade — delicious sweets as well. You are not going to find a better value in DC!

Not sure why this place has only 3 stars. It’s not glamorous or fancy but their food and coffee is on point. We were at tryst the day before and I had salmon bagel at both places and in my opinion this place had a better salmon bagel than the tryst. Give this place a chance seems like all the locals walking by were saying hi to the lady that was selling coffee and seem to know her I’d say if you’re in this area you should check this place out. I doubt it will disappoint.

As I said to my boyfriend as we were walking out of the restaurant the other day, «I really, really want to like this place but the staff is so rude». And that pretty much sums it up. This place has everything going for it — a great location with a quaint neighborhood vibe. They are eco-friendly and the menu is interesting, but when you walk in you are treated more as an inconvenience than a customer. I can overcome many things but bad customer service is not one of them, especially just flat out being rude and unfriendly. It’s sad to see such a potentially great restaurant go to waste over something so easily done as a smile.

Dos Gringos is a solid food choice in Mt Pleasant. They have a ton of great options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The space is very cozy and neighborhoody. The owners and staff are all very wonderful and it feels like you are going over to your friends row house for lunch rather than you are dining at a restaurant. My favorite sandwich is hands down the Primo Avacado Classico with avocado, sliced egg, bell pepper, lettuce, tomato and garlic mayo. It is so fresh and delicious and even though all the other food I have tried is good, it is my go to menu choice. Mmm, writing this makes me want one right now. To be honest, I usually get my coffee at Flying Fish because the coffee here is so so but the food is some of the best in Mt P.

«One star if they don’t fix our food.» After being successfully drawn in by this café’s cute demeanor. my boyfriend and I sat for a ½ hour to be handed sub-par food served cold. He made the statement above, and I couldn’t agree more. Yes, they fixed the food(that’s why they get 2 stars), but what we ate isn’t worth mentioning. Don’t fall for false exteriors.

3.5 stars. I’ve been living in this neighborhood for almost 4 years, and I avoided Dos Gringos for the longest time. I thought it was one of those hippie-ass Vegan hipster places, and I didn’t want to be sucked in some free-loving pot-smoking cult. Anyway, I was desperate one day for breakfast/brunch/lunch(whatever you wanna call it), and I couldn’t stomach another meal at Hellers. We decided to check out this place, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food is decent and tastes super fresh. I love their tuna and chicken salads. They taste homemade, with ingredients sourced from local farms.(clarification — I don’t know if ingredients are sourced from local farms, but the food tastes like they have been.) The coffees are delicious, and their salads are also pretty fresh. Caveat though — their baristas are not all equally skilled. Most of the time I get really good coffees or lattes, but I once got a super watered down breve espresso. I was watching the lady make it, and it was obvious she didn’t know how to use the machine.(the Hispanic lady kept muttering to herself in Spanish, sounded like cursing to me) Now I will say this — if you like food that’s heavy on the seasoning, I’m not sure this is the place. I’m a foodie and this food is on the subtler end of the spectrum. But what I do like about this place is that the food tastes super clean. It’s also super cozy and warm in there — like you’re at your hippie aunt’s living room. Prices are standard(same as Hellers), so I think it’s good value given the high quality of the ingredients. Service is very friendly. go for it
