Delicious and fresh food. Excellent customer service. The prices are a bit high, but it’s great to have a halal shawarma place at this location. I would go back there again.

Great schwarma! The meat was really good, not at all fatty. The pita was Israeli style– very light and fluffy. They also gave me a spicy sauce that was excellent. Definitely recommend over the pizza options around.

Ordered delivery from this place today and was super disappointed. I got the 4 salad sampler platter for $ 12, it included hummus, baba ganoush, parsley salad and tomato/cucumber salad. The hummus was very bitter, more bitter than any hummus I’ve tasted before. I had a spoon and didn’t touch the rest. The baba ganoush was also pretty disappointing. I ended up eating only the parsley salad and the tomato/cucumber salad. Those were both good.

I wasn’t impressed with the food here I thought it was a rip off!!! I had looked at the reviews on here and it advertise different looking food than there was. When we got there I order the chicken kabob for my little sister and we waited over 30 minutes for our order when we were the only ones there. Once the food came out we got to choose two sides it came with white rice(when I seen in a picture that it was brown rice) I was so excited to get cheek peas and I was totally disappointed when I’ve seen that it was only about 20 little peas left on the container with looked somewhat marinated, not tasty looking at all! I then asked for a salad instead and all I got was a spoon of plain chopped lettuce no tomatoes or cucumbers nothing just lettuce and then asked for hummus has my back up for the cheek peas. The shocking part was when I walked out and realized it didn’t come with bread and I went back and asked if it came with bread and the guy said no, and I was confused because I’ve never been to a place where kabobs didn’t come with bread and I said I would pay extra if I had to so I didn’t mind and I sure did. Once we got home and was getting ready to eat i opene the bread wrapper and ITLOOKEDLIKEPITABREADFROM A GROCERYSTORE not home made i was even more upset i was looking forward to great cheek peas and bread. The rice taste ok and the hummus has well but not amazing not something I think it’s worth $ 14 plus for.

They are back! Under new management and some investment on the décor. Restroom s cleaner. I ordered two types of shawarma s to check them out. The food was good but could’ve been better if they warmed up the meat atleast. The bread was regular pita, the old management use to bake their own bread which was amazing. I hope they start doing that as the freshly baked bread was what we’d look forward to. The place definitely looks great now but improvement is required on the food side

I love this place! I grew up in Abu Dhabi in the UAE and was spoiled with good shawarma on a regular basis, and this is the only spot I have been to where the food reminds me of that. Plus the staff is super helpful. If the location was slightly larger it’d be perfect. Just don’t come here with a large group.

Horrible food! I threw out both sandwiches after a bite because they were so rubbery and tasteless.

Let’s just get to the point: Why I like them: 1. Amazing garlic sauce 2. Delicious fattoush bread topping 3. They offer laziza 4. Chicken shawarma is dry but very tasty especially with the garlic sauce 5. Very good beef and lamb shawarma. Why I don’t like them: 1. They can take over an hour to deliver 2. They don’t always include the sauce you ask them for 3. They forget things you order 4. They run out of the laziza drink 5. The falafel are a bit burnt 6. The tabouleh is mehhh(very nitty gritty texture) Would I recommend them: yes Would I return: yes Do I think there is room for improvement: absolutely The food: overall 3 stars The delivery: 2 – 3 stars What don’t I recommend: the falafel sandwich or tabouleh Am I hungry now because of writing this: yes Is this an effective way to review: that’s debatable

Expensive for what it is. They charge $ 3.99 for fries, which are listed as a «side item.» Right below that, it says«platters come with 1 side item,» but the guy told me fries don’t count. I got a sandwich instead with a side of fries, which he forgot to put in the fryer. They were super soggy by the time I got home, so I put them in the oven to cook more. But the meat, that cooked too long. It was tough and tasteless. It came in thick bread, not really a pita, that fell apart. He said the salads only come with the platter, so that was confusing. He gave me some anyway, but it was still weird. I’m not coming back.

We ordered delivery on a Friday evening. The man on the phone barely spoke English. We got 2 gyro platters and there were 4 thin slices of gyro on a big bed of tasteless fried rice. The spinach was soggy and gross and had a weird aftertaste to it. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Stopped by late on a Sunday night right before closing. They stopped made me some awesome grub and didn’t make a fuss about it. 10⁄10 will eat here again. The beef and Lamb platter is a ton of food for the price. Super delicious too

I’m not sure why this place has bad reviews(aggregate 3 stars) — again, maybe it’s DC’s collective insanity. You know — the same reason people love shitty places like Hill Country and Lauriol. Anyways — I love this place. I’ve had many an epic night in Adams Morgan that ended at this place. I didn’t review this place because I attributed my love for the food to drunkenness. I’ve literally had many epic nights in Adams Morgan — where the only thing I would remember distinctly is the schawarma I get at the end of the night at this place. My go to places in Adams Morgan after a debaucherous night are this place and Julia’s Empanadas. Not gonna lie — most of the time I go to both at the end of the night. Not ashamed. Oh my goodness the food is soo good. Anyways — I went to this place sober for the first time today, and I gotta say that my drunk me is awesome. Because the food here is really really yummy. It’s fresh tasting, tender, flavorful authentic, the owners/servers are REALLYNICE!!! And the place is spotless. That’s pretty impressive for a place in Adams Morgan — usually places frequented by drunken crowds suck. with owners/servers so jaded by said drunken crowds that they are mean and awful. Anyways — absolutely go to this place for schawarma. Also give the baklava a try. Trust me, I’ve been to Turkey and I think the food is comparable.

Last evening my wife and I wanting Middle Eastern food found Sharwarma Spot in Adams Morgan. Upon entering we were welcomed by the Owner, Mr. Ashraf. In fact all the staff and service was excellent. They made us feel like close friends or family. The food was amazingly good. The Sharwarma both chicken and lamb was season to perfection. We also enjoyed the kabarbs that was very good. The vegetables were fresh and tender as well as tasty. Sharwarma Spot will see my wife and I return. We recommend that you visit too if you enjoy authentic Middle Eastern food cooked to perfection along with excellent customer service. Ameen & Najat

My experience at Sharwarma Spot was out of this world. First, as I was perusing the menu I noticed a distinctly Afghan dish so I asked the cashier — who turned out to be the owner — where the cuisine was from and sure enough, it was Afghanistan. While deciding what to order I asked the owner if he knew of a park nearby where we could eat. He replied by walking to the front of the restaurant and opening the big windows so we could enjoy our meals in the fresh air. Having spent some time in Afghanistan, I was thrilled to eat amazing authentic lamb with delicious sides like spinach(made the Afghan way — you must try it!) and fresh salads. The rice was delightful. The bread warm and fresh. My friend got the chicken shawarma which she devoured but let me sneak a bite — fantastic. We asked the owner if he carried doogh, a yogurt drink unique to the region; he promptly snuck back to the kitchen and came back with two fresh bottles for us. I wanted to cry. He was so nice, so engaging, and the meal so wonderful — I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The owner said he’d be happy to make me Afghan dishes on special order — I can’t wait to take him up on it. I just can’t wait to go back overall!

This place was FANTASTIC!!! I had a beef shawarma sandwich combo. On the sandwich was beef, cabbage, eggplant, cucumber, tomato, and yogurt sauce. The sandwich roll was divine. Each ingredient was flavorful by itself but mashed together was amazing! I had it with fries. The sandwich was so belly-filling that I only picked at the fries. I’m so full. The price was nice too, $ 11 for the combo. So much food. The check in coupon for free juice is not honored though. I was told that was posted by the previous owner and they don’t do that. Not that I really wanted mango juice, but if it was free I would have drank it.

So the dining space might be a little cramped. It’s not the fanciest place, but the food is wonderful! I mean that. I’ve experienced their shawarma both mildly intoxicated and completely sober… they’re still amazing. This place kinda reminds me of Amsterdam Falafel, except they offer meat and it’s not as packed. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and cut just right. The toppings are fresh and the bread is thick enough to hold hummus, sauces, and various vegetables while still being easy to chew. The owner is also a sweetheart, and makes sure that you’re satisfied with the order. Can’t wait for the next Adam’s Morgan rendezvous so I can come back!
