Einstein Bros

I really don’t like this location at all. It’s smaller than some of the other locations in the area, and they carry a significantly smaller variety of bagels. (Where are my spinach Florentine and dutch apple specialty bagels?!?) I like the nova lox bagel sandwich (sans capers) for breakfast, but I swear they give you the thinnest piece of salmon they can muster. The salmon doesn’t even cover the whole bagel, so I’ll often have half of a bagel that’s just cream cheese. Well hell, at least put some salmon cream cheese on it to fill in the flavor gaps or something. LOL!
The food is ok, but what I really don’t like is the service. The staff is rarely pleasant, and there is one particularly rude employee there that I absolutely cannot stand. She is the primary reason that I won’t come here anymore. She’s a short, fat, LOUD hispanic woman with a terrible disposition, and what’s worse is that she is usually the person that is distributing the food to customers. If you see/​hear her working that day, you might want to go eat elsewhere.
On one of my visits, she viciously berated a customer for trying to claim food that was actually hers. The distributer was calling out the last 2 numbers of the three digit numbers on the receipts, and customers were confused. No one was claiming one particular order she called, so she gets annoyed and starts screaming the number like a lunatic. One customer checked her number and said to the woman that she thought she had might have the number, noting that it was three digits, not two, but that the last two numbers were the ones that were being called. Without even looking at the receipt, the distributor snapped at this customer that she was not calling her number. She actually did so several times, and this poor lady had to put for with being talked down to by this woman 3 different times as she tried to claim her breakfast, especially when she was right: that was her food. When the distributer was finally made aware of her mistake, she just said «Oh», shoved the food at the poor woman, and went on to the next order like nothing happened. No apology… nothing. Who wants that kind of headache first thing in the morning?
I contacted the company about this incident and they didn’t even have the courtesy to follow up and at least say that they were looking into it. So, if they don’t care enough to make sure that customers are not treated fairly and respectfully, then they definitely don’t deserve any more of my business at this location.

It was not even remotely busy when I went in this morning to get a SIMPLE PB&J bagel. I specifically asked for grape jelly, more than once. I asked again when they handed it to me that it was indeed what I asked for, to which the ambivalent girl behind the counter said «yes». I get on the train and what happens?! No effin’ grape jelly on the bagel that I asked for multiple times, and paid for! It was too late at that point to get my money back or get it fixed. It doesn’t take a genius to get a simple order right. I have worked crap jobs I haven’t liked my whole life, but no matter what, I did my job properly. I hate to be bitchy, but I find bad customer service deplorable.

Maybe I ordered wrong, but the southwestern turkey eggwhite bagel sammy was covered in some sort of green goop and was completely inedible.

Not a NY bagel but not too bad while passing through. Friendly staff that took my order quickly and got it right. Craved a bagel to take on my train ride home and it did the trick.
Some seating, and entrances through to the nice mall side to the crappy Amtrak side.
I remember we used to have some of these here in Manhattan but they quickly died out probably due to the fact that we actually have real bagel joints that do it so much better.
Also, no, do not toast a bagel! I was asked that and laughed. Just, no.

Worst customer service ever!
The guy working behind the counter acted as if he was doing me a favor…
The establishment is dirty and not well maintained. The sugar packets are sticky and the coffee tasted and smelled burned.
Waste of my time and money.

The staff here is always friendly, and they always get my order right. The bagels taste fresh, and the breakfast sandwiches are always tasty. Disclaimer: I don’t get their coffee, just their bagels.

Stopped in for some pumpkin gnashes, got the bacon cheddar and egg bagel sandwich on a pumpkin bagel and a pumpkin muffin. Don’t expect them to remember your complete order or for them to smile. The lady working called my order and handed me the bagel sandwich without the muffin, after a quick reminder she got the muffin too.
The bagel sandwich was tasty, often times chain places have flavorless cheese, this cheese was clearly cheddar. The bacon portion was adequate but nothing to write home about. The muffin had the pumpkin flavor I was looking for but this was the first muffin I ever had where the muffin top tasted exactly the same as the muffin bottom, odd but not a bad experience.

Ridiculously slow service! It’s a train station Einstein Bros, which generally means people are in a rush at 7.30am. So tell your folks to stop chit-​chatting with each other.

Horrible customer service. A kid hanging at the cash register. Learn how to prep veggies nobody wants a huge chunk of red onion on their sandwich. Ask for mustard didn’t get it. Table dirty!

Who puts fennel seed on an everything bagel?!? Is this a DC thing?
I’m always nervous about ordering food when I have a bus to catch, but they’re very fast here.
However, the speed came at a cost. My «toasted» bagel looked like me after the beach: barely light brown in, like, one spot.
Also (and I’ve never experienced this before, so I’m not sure exactly how to describe it) my bagel was kind of undercooked?! When I bit into it, it would sort of collapse in a damp way. Not the most appealing texture.
It was $ 3, and came with plenty of cream cheese, so I’m not going to cry myself to sleep tonight. Still, I’ll go somewhere else in Union Station for breakfast next time.

Poor Service
I know what you’re thinking. Service? What service? You go up there. You order. They give you your food. You leave. There’s hardly any service involved to be poor.
I agree. There is hardly any service. It’s not that complicated. But they still give poor service. I go to this place now and then when I just want something in my stomach for the train ride home. One time I was given the wrong order. I didn’t find out until I got on the train that I was given a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese. It was disgusting. I couldn’t eat it. Then one time I ordered, but they never prepared my order. I waiting as they prepared the orders of people who were behind me. Then when I inquired, I was given a lot of attitude.
There doesn’t seem to be much management supervision at this place, and there seems to be a lot of turnover. I rarely see the same person twice.
Fortunately there isn’t a huge service component in this place.

Not sure if it’s because this store is located inside the train station but overall disappointing experience after two visits. I know they are a fairly large chain and expected there was a good reason for it, but their bagels were nothing special and they spread so little of the strawberry cream cheese that I can’t really comment on it. Local bodegas in NY/​NJ churn out better bagels. There were also a good number of people working in the morning yet service was slow and rude.

After getting off a 3.5-hour train ride from NYC to DC I was craving a breakfast wrap, so I decided to check out Einstein Bros. My expectations were set at Dunkin’ Donuts-​level quality.
The first thing that upset me here was the slow service. Only two people were working there at 4:30pm, which on a Friday I imagine to be one of the busier times in Union Station. I was the second of two people in line, and apparently once the line hits two service grinds down to a halt. Despite Einstein Bros. essentially being a QSR establishment at a major transportation area it was by no means quick. I was next in line and had to wait 3 – 5 minutes to place my order, which I found a little absurd. This would never happen at a Dunkin’ Donuts, Au Bön Pain, or McDonald’s. After I ended up getting my food the line had swelled to five people, so those people were in one heck of a wait.
My turkey-​sausage, egg, and cheese wrap was okay. I liked the egg and cheese more than Dunkin’, but enjoyed the sausage less. The Einstein sausage was spicier than I expected it to be, but it seemed like the copious amounts of pepper were there to offset a lack of flavor. The wrap was also hotter (a good thing) and greasier (a bad thing) than I expected, with the latter obligating me to find a bathroom to wash my hands afterward.
At the end of the day, the service and food didn’t justify the roughly $ 5 price. If I had the choice between Einstein Bros, ABP, and Dunkin’, then I’d rather opt with the other places.

They took so long to make my bagel sandwich (at least 10 min) that I had to leave and catch a train before I could get my sandwich. All I ordered was a bagel with egg and cheese.

I’ve been to this location 3 times over the past few months. They offer quick service and convenience when you only have a few minutes to catch a bus. The food is mediocre and a bit pricey for the quality.
1. Bagels — I’m from the NYC-​area so these aren’t really bagels to me. They’re similar to grocery store bagels and lack the flavor and texture of true bagels. They have a nice selection of bagels and cream cheeses. I usually go with veggie cream cheese on an everything or sesame bagel.
2. Muffins — I’ve only had their blueberry muffins, which tasted delicious. It had a nice crumbly topping. The other muffins looked good too!
3. Beverages — I only bought tea during my visits and they were always very warm. Therefore, by the time I walked to my bus gate, the tea was lukewarm. Since the water wasn’t hot enough, it didn’t get to steep quite enough either. I really wish their water was hotter!
Overall, this place is very mediocre. Nothing really stands out, and nothing is really that terrible about it. I grab what I need and leave. It’s pretty clean because they have a quick turn around. Occasionally, they have a homeless person at a table just camping out there, which can make the trip unappetizing. However, I’m sure this happens to every establishment at the train station.

Goo place to pick up some thing quick and simple that’s not to fattening. Blackberry lemonade was better than I thought.

Came by to grab some lunch before getting on the bus. Very tiny but it IS in Union Station. Service was quick enough but their bags are flimsy. I put in a fork for my salad that I discovered later must have fallen out of a big hole I saw near the bottom of the bag.
The strawberry banana smoothie was good & filling. Even got to have whipped cream on it for free. One time, I’ll have to go to a full service store & get a bagel, which is what they’re known for.

Got an everything bagel with cream cheese and it was mediocre. It tasted a little raw on the inside and the cream cheese was not great. It was also overpriced at $ 3. I didn’t have any issues with service as others noted. I will say that it was fast, as one would expect and hope from a bagel place in a train station.

My expectations were pretty low for a Union Station bagel shop, but the Thintastic Buffalo Chicken was pretty tasty! Very flavorful and not too heavy. Perfect for a train ride home meal.
Staff was friendly & gave good advice on what to order. You could tell they sincerely loved the food there.

I have always loved. Einstein bros bagels, I was very impressed with the service here… The employee’s were polite… They don’t have has many Selection has a normal store but for being inside union station. I was extremely impressed. I will stop back in when I get back to DC
