Embassy of Afghanistan

My DC business culminated with a visit to the Afghan Embassy. It happens to be a frigid, snow-​covered afternoon. We were ushered into the ante room awaiting arrival of the chief counselor. The interior is lovely, beautiful carpets atop hardwood floors. All the embassies in the foggy bottom area of DC are incredible from the outside. We moved upstairs for the meeting and were led into a sizeable hall where chairs had been placed for our convenience. The chief counselor provided us a short brief of Afghanistan history, culture, and current status. He was kind enough to engage in a question/​answer session with us. What’s difficult to comprehend is the sheer resilience of these people. I was humbled & inspired, yet most thankful to be an American. We were shown the utmost in hospitality! I hope to have the opportunity to continue to forge relationships with these strong, proud people.
