Dr Lobaugh seemed very good on the eye exam, but when it comes to getting spectacles or lenses, this place has the slowest service I have ever experienced in any line of business. Each time I’ve come here, I’ve ended up having to reschedule the rest of my day.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Lobaugh for many years. He is a terrific eye doctor and a kind, soft spoken person who puts the patient very much at ease. Prior to finding Dr. Lobaugh, I had bounced around from eye doctor to eye doctor because I was never satisfied. Now that I have found Dr. Lobaugh, I plan to go to him until he retires! He really listens and tries to answer my questions and investigate my concerns. He actually found a tear in my retina before it became a problem. I am convinced that other doctors who are not as thorough would have missed this. My husband had an emergency with his eye and Dr. Lobaugh bent over backwards to help him and fit him into his full schedule so he could get relief as quickly as possible. I would recommend him and his practice without hesitation.

The eye exam from Stephen Lobaugh was fine. However, the optical department, from which you’re supposed to actually get your glasses and contacts, is almost useless. I had to make several calls to get copies of my prescription(which they are legally required to give at the appointment.) They don’t return calls(and make excuses about it), make errors in the prescription you’re supposed to get(making more excuses), and, to top it off, can only provide prescriptions through fax(who even has a fax anymore??) or snail mail – not via email, scan, or an online portal. This is the only doctor’s office I deal with that doesn’t offer these conveniences. I gave up on getting glasses or contacts from them – if they can’t even deal with returning a phone call and looking up a prescription, I’m not trusting them with my vision needs. This is DC – there are too many good providers to put up with inept service like this. Go somewhere else.
