This place is great. An inexpensive but high quality manicure and pedicure.

On the fence about this place. I wandered in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. There was no one in there. I mean the joint was dead as a doornail. The ladies were friendly and the technician was attentive. Apparently the place is under new management and they were offering 20% services. However, despite bringing in the flier I think I was still charged full price for the manicure. There is no price list and I didn’t ask when I came how much services were. I was charged $ 12 for a manicure that did not last the day. They seemed clean but I am on the fence about returning.

This place is just ok. The ladies are very nice, but they are doing renovations and the place is very dumpy. The massage chairs barely do anything, not a lot to choose from for nail polish colors, and for what they do for mani/pedi its too expensive at $ 38. In Massachusetts you get the top of the line spa option for that price. Oh well. The lady did a good job on the pedicure and did a good paint job. She was very careful and seemed to give extra lotion massage. The manicure was rushed because they were close to closing, and I couldn’t dry as long as I wanted to. Two hours later my nails are still a little wet, the polish is wrinkly and not quite solid. I hope that when they renovate they try and make the place not look so stark like a hospital, offer better services for the prices and get some more nail polish. Also, they don’t allow tips on debit/credit purchases.

This place is awful. My friend and I went here memorial day weekend and I should have written my review sooner. Both us experienced very poor manicures. The manicurists put so much nail polish on our nails that they were gooey for hours afterwards. My friend had pretty long nails and asked for her nails to be filed to be made even with each other; by the time the manicure was over she no longer had long nails they were all short and stubby. During the time we were there we had to ask for multiple nails to be redone because the manicurists kept hitting them and smudging them. They would not have redone them if we had not asked them to. After I returned home I experienced chipping or smudging on almost every nail. I will never return to this nail salon. In all reality it deserves a zero.

I’ll keep this one short and sweet. The pros: The gel polish manicure is cheap at $ 25 and well-done, with close attention to detail. Plus the woman running the place is quite friendly. The cons: This is for sure a no-frills spot. The manicure is not accompanied by any lotions, oils, or hand massages. It’s also pretty shabby(bordering on grungy to the point I probably wouldn’t trust them with my toes) The low-down: A good spot for a quick manicure but not for a day at the spa with your girls!

i’ve been going here for over 10 years – since they were in cleveland park, as have my mom and sister. ask for Tu – the owner. she’s a wonderful person &GREAT at what she does. my pedicures NEVER chip – i have to go back b/c my nails grow, not because of the paint job. i’ve had Tu do my brows for years, and i always get compliments. i actually got a bikini wax there for the first time today. i’m 7 months pregnant, and just needed to have this done. it was a totally easy experience. yes, it hurt like hell at the second the paper was stripped off, but i haven’t even had the SLIGHTEST burning or itching or any irritation whatsoever – it’s been 3 hours. every place has bad things happen. you gotta get the right person, and Tu is it. or the other older woman, whose name i don’t recall. :) Pedicure: $ 26 Bikini Wax: $ 20

I live in Woodley and ventured up to «the strip» on Connecticut one summery Saturday in search of a pedi, knowing that I had crossed paths with one somewhere in the hood. Disclaimer: I have only had a pedi once in my life, and I didn’t let them do the cuticle trimming because it scared me and the thought made me shiver. Needless to say then, this was a big deal for me. I went to Roi who charges $ 47 and that’s ridic because I wasn’t looking for a whole spa experience– I wanted a high quality quickie. I’m sure that they are great, but that’s not in my price range to do every three weeks in the summer. I dragged myself out of Roi feeling defeated until my eye fell upon a sign across CT: «Fancy Nails.» Yes. So I venture in and they take me almost immediately. It’s clean which is good and the mini autoclave was in immediate view. I asked the woman next to me who was freshly pedi’d and said she had been going there for years and the pedis last a long time. Sweet. The cuticle scissors were a great success! The massage chairs and current magazines are always a plus(I know, nothing special from most spas, but hey, it deserves credit). She did a great job and it lasted three weeks! I’ve already gone back a second time(again, took me right away and again great success with the cuticle scissors). I do worry about a few of the other items like the loofah and scrub brush– how do they clean THOSE? Yikes. Big fan. Big bang for the buck. Give ‘em a whirl.

I have only been here once, and while the woman was very nice, while having my eyebrows waxed, the wax was so hot, my upper eyelid got quite burned, and i had a nasty mark for almost a week. During a pedicure in the same visit, she also cut quite deeply into the cuticle, making me bleed. So wont be going back.

I think the hygiene is sketchy here, and I have always had to wait forEVER. Salon Roi is much more expensive, but if you have to stay near the metro, they do a good job with waxing. For nails, I’d recommend Dupont Nails.

This is one of my regular salons. The staff is very friendly, efficient, and good at what they do. One of the best manicures and pedicures I’ve had, which is why I keep going back. Fancy Nails is just off the Metro, making it easy to reach, and the prices are reasonable. The only issue is finding parking if you happen to drive to the place.

I will admit, I have only been here once, and what a ride it was. During my pedicure, I was cut 4 times and bled considerably during the cuticle removing process. The nail technician was very apologetic but I have been reluctant to return. The staff seems friendly and the salon itself was very clean. Maybe one day, I will get the nerve to give them a second shot!
