Complete Dive, yet I found the atmosphere very cozy. Cheap Happy Hour specials(2 rail cocktails = $ 8.00). Food was pretty good too, the lounge shares a kitchen with the restaurant next door.

The positive reviews about this place must either be written by 1) the Fox and Hounds staff, their friends, and their family members or 2) people who were paid to write positive reviews. I live in DuPont circle and have gone to Fox and Hounds on several occasions; my dining /drinking outings there have been worse each time. After my latest experience there, I will never be spending my money at this place again, and I’ve strongly recommended to my friends that they consider doing the same. I had drinks with two friends at this establishment yesterday evening, and the waitress, an overweight caucasian woman, Mandy, was very inattentive and billed us incorrectly for two beers on our tab. She did not correct the charges which, judging from prior experience, is no surprise, and I left a poor tip as a reflection of the poor service. I paid with a credit card, and the waitress looked at the tip before my friends and I left the bar. She proceeded to complain about the tip to one of her colleagues, a darker-skinned African American woman with poorly bleached blonde hair, Kadine. This colleague is apparently the attack dog of the bar — she stormed by my table, looked over at me, said my FULLNAME(which she must have seen on my credit card) and stomped off. I confronted her moments later, and she ignored me entirely, acting as if she hadn’t done anything. So, on top of getting the worst bar service I have ever experienced, my privacy was violated. Steer clear of this establishment. *11/17UPDATE* I checked my credit card statement this morning; the waitress took it upon herself to inflate my tip by nearly 200%, which is both fraudulent and illegal. Fortunately, because I work in banking regulatory compliance, I keep good copies of my itemized and customer receipts, as well as my credit card statements, so I will certainly be getting my money back and have contacted DC Consumer Protection to apprise them of the theft that has occurred. It’s both sad and unfortunate that these women feel the need to skim their customers’ cards in order to make an extra buck, but perhaps that’s why they are in this business.

This is my DC Cheers! It is a true local bar where you can come and have conversations with strangers who may become friends. You have to earn your status as a regular to get really great service, and that makes the service all the more sincere. But anyone can come and get their famous strong drinks where the liquor comes in a glass on its own and your mixer(coke, tonic, etc.) comes separately. It’s best to stick to beer if you’re a light weight. Kadine, Moncef, and Mandy, I love you guys! You make 17th Street feel like a real neighborhood. Food tip — get the turkey quesadilla.

I love Fox and Hound for Happy Hour on Fridays! We go all the time after work, because the prices are great. Definitely get the fries with your drinks and make sure Kadine is your server; she’s the best!

This is a small casual bar with some patio area. More of a dive bar; so don’t expect much & you won’t be disappointed. Some happy hour specials, but not worth the trip.

There one thing that’s a must have at the place and it’s one that’s a bit of a surprise. The house made strawberry margarita made by their bartender, John. The atmosphere is chill and the place sublime, night or day. A patio to soak up the summer sun and a place for meeting or making friends, it’s a fun neighborhood hang out.

The waitress in which you speak of, the«African American with bleached blonde hair» is one of the most attentive and kind-hearted people in this establishment. I’ve been frequenting this place for years and am sorry that you may have been too intoxicated to understand that she was trying to deal with your basic-Beth attitude, but I was sitting right next to you and you were being completely belligerent and rude. I can’t help but applaud her actions in response to you acting like a complete fool in public and making a total spectacle of yourself in front of the entire bar. This isn’t a fine dining restaurant. Instead of whining online, be an adult and speak up in person if you feel you’ve been mistreated.

The service was extremely unprofessional and offensive. I have never written a bad review on here. I was at Fox and Hound today and the waiter, an African American with bleached blonde hair, spent the day being rude to everyone. When I arrived, just as I walked in, I noticed that my friends’ table was missing a chair, I kindly asked a couple if there were using their chair and they said«No honey, please take it.» As I walked over to my friends table with the chair the waiter yanked the chair out of my had and said«DON’T take this chair!!» Everyone was startled and quiet and looked at the waiter who stomped and placed the chair back at the couple’s table and stormed off. I just walked away taken back and upset and another kind couple offered me their chair. It was a really bad experience. And I had only been their for less than minute. No one at the restaurant apologized. Just the customers dinning at the restaurant, came up to me and said sorry.

Fox and Hounds is a great place for happy hour after work. Unwind and chat with your server(if you are lucky you will get Kadine), and enjoy their drinks and appetizer specials!

Great happy hour beer deals! Extensive menu. Their fries are great, with ample portions. I loved their turkey burger, it had herbs in it and was delicious. Servers definitely have personality, but it’s more fun that way. Eg our waiter alternatively wore sneakers and nude pumps throughout his shift. Good people watching on 17th, great patio, unpretentious. Oh but don’t get chips and salsa, it’s a major rip off. $ 8 for a handful of Costco chips!

*Edit* I mixed up my reviews, and wrote this review for a different restaurant. Fox and Hounds is a casual bar in Dupont. I came here for happy hour on a Friday night. The happy hour deals are fine, not spectacular. Pros — Ample outdoor seating. This is a great spot for people watching. Bring your sunnies and a fun group to chat with. — Great location. The row of restaurants and bars on 17th Street are far enough away from Dupont Circle to have a bit of personality of its own. Cons — There are better happy hour deals in the area. — It’s a busy place. When we were there, the servers seemed very annoyed.

I’ve legit been coming here for 15 years. Sigh, #old. There are no surprises with the Fox and Hound lounge. It’s a divey dive bar in DuPont circle. Drinks are cheap. Your best bet is a mixed drink which is a glass of booze and a mixer. The outdoor patio is perfect for people watching. All sorts of government employees and weirdos on 17th st. Brunch on Sunday is p. Great too. Will be back. Hopefully in 15 more years.

After the negative experience at another bar, I needed to sit down in a friendly relaxing environment, with strong cocktails and fun servers. And Fox and Hounds fit my need perfectly. Our server was a real delight, very warm, attentive, just the right amount of follow up. The drinks had a good pour and the veggie nachos were perfect to munch as the sun set and people walked by.

Great prices Good selection of drinks Attentive bartender Free from most of the annoying tourists and crowds that are so common in DC, this place is almost all locals and is my go to place for a nice end to a work day.

I will never bring my disposable income back to this bar after an encounter with the rudest server I have ever met. She is the young woman, mid-20s with short bleached blonde-tipped hair. She was extremely rude to my group of friends and I, ignoring us for most of the night, except to come over and snap at us, refuse to tell us any drink specials, and get angry each time we asked a simple question or asked her to correct our incorrect bill. For example, my boyfriend asked, «Are there any happy hour food specials?», and she snapped, «No food. Only drinks» and stormed away before we could order any food or drinks. She was surly to everyone else too. The good drink specials here are NOTWORTHTHETERRIBLESERVICE.

So I ask for a vodka and soda and I’m given a mini bottle of club soda and a glass filled with vodka to mix on my own, after this I knew I would love this place. This bar gives me everything I need in a bar, no frills, friendly staff and no fancy pretentious cocktails, just straight shots and make it yourself mixes. They also have pretty good bar food. I had a burger with mushrooms, moist patty, nicely seasoned and well put together. The crowd is an interesting mix, I came early to watch a baseball game and the place was rather empty but a few hours later, the place was packed with a mix of all kinds of people, all friendly though as it was easy to have a conversation with anybody in the bar area. Fox and Hounds is definitely my kind of place, cheap, easy to manage and a little bit of fun. The music was a little odd, I’ve never heard 3LW played in a bar before but even that was interesting. Well worth a visit to drink the night away.
