The work here is well done but the prices are very high. Delivery can also be slow. You can get comparable quality for substantially better pricing and speedier service at many other shops in the area.

I took in a piece of art 2 months ago. Chris(owner?) suggested the watercolor on paper be pressed out first before making a recommendation for framing. Okay, no big hurry but now 2 months have passed and when I called him about the piece(I’m ready to get it framed) he can’t remember it or find it. Says he needs to SEE the receipt. Not good enough that I read to him over the phone what he wrote on it and the receipt number. He claims to not use a computer, so can’t scan/email to him. No, I have to show up in person with the receipt so that he can try to find it. Oh, and by the way, I’m told that I should come before a certain time because it’s busy later… what kind of customer service is this? I’m also not impressed by the apparent total lack of any type of systematic tracking system of customers’ artwork. I hope and pray that he finds my painting which has great sentimental value to me. I will take it else where to be framed and NEVER return to this frame shop.

My father had a very dated, award winning 1970s painting hanging on his wall for more than 30 years. I knew it needed some tender loving care but had no idea what… maybe a new frame? I took it into Frame Mart Gallery for suggestions and the owner recommended an option that would have never crossed my mind: Building on an additional frame to the one that already existed. The owner explained that this would not only add pizazz but would preserve the value of the existing painting with its original frame. I picked up the painting about 6 weeks later and was stunned at the transformation. The new frame completely changed the painting into a masterpiece. I love it! While Frame Mart was not inexpensive or fast, the cost and wait were totally worth it, particularly for something of great sentimental value. The store is now my top choice for anything important that needs that special touch.

Frame Mart Gallery gets four stars because they do beautiful work. A few doors down from Vace in Cleveland Park, the family owned frame shop is friendly and welcoming. This is the place to go to have your better pieces of art framed; it’s expensive and you will have to wait, but it’s worth it for the attention to detail and quality. I’ve had one painting repaired and one framed here, and am really pleased with the way they came out. The shop is small and can get crowded on the weekends, so bring your patience and just know that you’re in the right place if you love your art!
