Sadly, it looks like the«new dog park» consists only of a tiny fenced area that resembles an oversized dog crate. It has no grass, instead a black substance covers the surface. Workers told us it is some type of carbon. Carbon is a suspected carcinogen. Not sure why DC Parks & Rec would put our pets in jeopardy. Can’t find any specs or plans for this space online.

My apartment directly overlooks the park. They play all manner of sports in the park and I see all manner of dogs at all hours; usually busiest around 7PM. Everyone appears to peacefully co-exist and I’ve never seen anyone not clean up after their dog(s). I believe the largest number of dogs I’ve seen at once is 13. People seem to come from all around, not just the building I live in. I don’t know the exact dimensions of the park, but I’ve seen 2 soccer practices, 2 softball games and a gaggle of dogs all at once on the field with room to spare. It’s quite large.

Often football practices and soccer games going on from 6 to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ground is pretty beat up, with the whole middle just dirt. No lights.
