we have a GB in San Diego were I love and it is very nice so I was wondering about the 3 stars. So I rolled in there tonight and can realize why the rating is low. The Caesar Salad is bland. House white is barely drinkable. Service is sometimes absolutely horrible. The staff is constantly on their devices and don’t look up from them to see if the patrons need anything. GB in San Diego is so much better.

This restaurant is delicious and the service is great. This waitress brought five huge beers in just two hands. Dedication runs through her veins. The atmosphere is amazing. And the food is amazing. The portion size leaves you at a comfortable full. They also have great music. Almost as good as the theme song to law & order cause no one can resist to sing along. Great price and great food.

Not for groups of 6 or more on game day! Came here with a group of 10. We were split to 2 tables(1-table of 4 people; 1-table of 6 people). The group of 4 received their food 40 minutes before the 6 top. Apparently larger tables are in a different food cue. I was at the 6 top and after an hour and 10 minute wait, my food was cold when it arrived. The manager came over to offer resolution which was great customer service but a 70 minute wait for cold flatbread is not for me. I’ll eat at the park next time.

Took 35 minutes to get a draft beer and 45+ minutes to get a simple appetizer(the BBQ chicken sliders). Waiter wasn’t attentive and ignored us for the duration of us waiting for the food. Poor service poor visit

I came to GB before a Nationals game and I was able to get immediate seating. I ordered the CBLT and got it with their legendary garlic fries. As I wasn’t wowed by the legendary fries and they seemed just like normal fries(contrary to other reviews), I did enjoy my sandwich as it came on fresh bread with fresh ingredients. I loved the combination of chicken, bacon, cheese, and fried onion strings. The service was a little slow as there were long durations between each visit to our table from our waitress.

We ordered the boneless wings and it was completely raw inside, absolutely disgusting. The manager said he would take them off our check, but then when the bill came they were still on there. So that was annoying. He brought out new wings but there was no way I could talk myself into eating 1 bite… They should have comped it & offered to bring out something else… preferably a non-meat option… YUCK! We were there for happy hour trying to grab a few drinks before the Nats game but the service was so slow, it was pretty much impossible. I will never go back here again. Sad because I enjoyed other GB locations in the past(F St. & Tysons)

Great ambience and location to watch the Washington Nationals baseball game. Quick service and decent portions. Food was good but not worth making a special trip to eat here. Server was attentive and made sure we were taken care of.

You would think food here is pretty good since its close to the navy yard. Well think again. Everything here tasted bland and like frozen food that’s being warm up. Drinks were so sweet, did not taste the alcohol. Server forgot to bring us utensils. We have been to other GB did not have this issues.

Food is pretty average, but usually just fine. This is a good place to go before or after a Nats game, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. Burgers and sandwiches are your best bet. Steaks are usually pretty good, but the bruchetta chicken should be avoided… it’s one of the most bizarre and unappetizing meals I’ve ever had. Service has always been really good here, and who as once sitting a few tables away from me? None other than Eleanor Holmes Norton!

This is one of my favorite restaurants no matter what location. Service is always great and so is the food This one hit the spot just after Nat’s game Garlic fries are the best I’ve come across

I ordered a turkey burger here. It was inedible– I was wondering if the meat had gone bad. I’ve had issues with service every time I’ve been here– missing food, wrong orders, lack of communication. I don’t really like the beer either. The only reason this gets two stars instead of one are the garlic fries, which are indeed delicious.

Service was incredibly slow. Ok, it was 3 hours before a ball game and this restaurant is only a block from the park. But they were half empty when we got there. I think they use the ball game as an excuse for poor service. My wife got the steak sirloin and I got a chicken blt on ciabatta bread. The food was excellent. The steak was moist and the sandwich was excellent and filling. I got the garlic fries which were way too garlicky — but I don’t have to worry about vampires for a couple of months. My son ordered a kids pizza and it was greasy and tasteless like every restaurant’s kids pizza. My daughter got chicken fingers though and I almost regret not getting them myself. They were meaty and very good for a kids menu item. I liked the place and I wish I had the chance to have tried the beer, but maybe another time. I am disappointed that a restaurant named Biersch didn’t have any brats, but maybe I’m just spoiled by good brew pubs.

Its a very typical all American restaurant. Its very open with outside seating our server was wonderful. I had the Tuna steak filet and it was rotten. The server took it back and offered my something else. Which was Nice. My compadre had a salad nothing much to it. Great fries though. May come back for drinks only !

Nice ambiance and location. The menu is just ok. I really just go for the brats and the bread pudding, those are awesome.

Saturday afternoon. No game going on nearby. We’re going on an hour sitting here with no food. Host dropped us at the table, ignoring our request for a high chair and left me standing holding the baby, trying to make eye contact with anybody at all who might take the initiative to see why a guest was standing impatiently next to their table. At this point, I feel like the service is so bad that there is virtually no culinary miracle possible for the kitchen to produce that might possibly redeem this excuse for a restaurant. Tip to the management. Restaurants serve food. Drinks would be nice too. I’d settle for those at this point. Update: one and a half hours into this ordeal, the food finally shows up. The order is tragically wrong. We give up and leave without eating. The only thing the manager had to say was that he was going to take care of the bill.(For our uneaten, late, and incorrect order). Thanks for nothing.

Good happy hour specials on food and drinks. Burgers were good, but nothing special. Try the risotto ball appetizer, it’s awesome. Service was slow, though.

I would not recommend this to anyone, which is a shame because the location is awesome and the building is beautiful. My boyfriend and I came in one Friday evening the beginning of April just looking for somewhere cool to eat with good food and good beer. From appearances we thought this was our spot. There was a 20 minute wait, so we went to the bar to grab a beer while we waited. We sat on the corner near service station. They mine as well extend the service station and remove these seats, because the bartender could hardly reach us. The ONLY positive I have to say about this place is that the bartender was upbeat and quick. We were quickly moved to our table. The location of our table wasn’t great but I’ve definitely had worse so, that is what it is. Our server came over and poured us some waters, introduced herself and informed us that she was new, and also that everything on the menu is made fresh in house(awesome– I thought) Totally fine, I’m more than willing to help newer people along the way. We ordered our food, the brat sliders, and a margherita pizza– both to share. I was super excited for the brat sliders. The sliders came as 3: I took a bite of 1– it wasn’t fully cooked and tasted more like a frozen breakfast sausage. The mustard on them had literally no flavor. I didn’t take another bite– you’d have to know me to know that’s a big deal, but it is. My boyfriend took a bite of one, and put it down as well. The remainder of the brats went untouched. The margherita pizza was a disgrace to pizza. I would say it was the worst I’ve had, my boyfriend says he’s had worse… the tomatoes had no flavor, the cheese looked like bagged shredded cheese and hadn’t been melted and it was smothered in parsley. Terrible. Also, when we received our food, we had no plates, or anything to eat it with, and had to wait approximately 5 or 6 minutes before we could even really eat. Their computer system shut down and we had to wait quite a while to get our check. While I was going to the bathroom I witnessed a customer walking into the kitchen to ask for spoons for their dessert, which the server obviously forgot. Also, let’s talk about the bathroom, which typically can say a lot about the place. It’s inconveniently placed, but okay that happens. Out of I think 3 possibly 4 stalls, ONE had toilet paper. And that one roll was not in the dispenser but on top of it. The floor was littered with empty cardboard rolls, and other trash and wet. The paper towel dispenser was empty but luckily someone had placed a roll of paper towels on the counter which was partially soaked. They need to cut their menu by at least 50% it is HUGE, to the point it took us a while to even review the thing and then eventually we just picked a couple things that popped out at us. Pick a few things to be good at instead of serving a whole lot of crap. And actually train their servers. I hate writing bad reviews, but this place is horrible. As far as the beer, it’s mediocre at best. But compared to their food their beer is outstanding(still that’s not saying much)

I came here for valentine’s day with my boyfriend for a nice dinner… The cons– we got sat near the kitchen and waited 25 mins for our waitress to come greet us, we ordered a coke, and a shot of tequila that took about 20 mins, then we ordered appetizers NEVER got it. Then we asked our for meals and she obviously never put any of our orders in. She was slow and unattentive. The pros– beautiful location, I stopped another server and asked her to take care of us and she did. I wish I got her name cuz she was awesome. We even gave her a 10 dollar tip just for helping us.

This restaurant is what you would expect from a chain — consistent food no matter which location you visit. It’s great or happy hour drinks but the food menu was changed a year or so ago and isn’t such a good deal. What sets Gordon Biersch Navy Yard apart is(1) its proximity to Nationals Ballpark(who doesn’t love beer and baseball?!) and(2) its brewmaster Travis who brews the most amazing beers(beyond the standard GB beers). But be forewarned, service can be slow — for example dinner the other night took almost 2 hours vs the normal 45 min, our food alone took 30+ mins to even reach the table. The bar was packed so I guess they weren’t prepared for a crowd on a Tuesday night but unfortunately it wasn’t our greatest experience there. If you plan to go on game day, arrive early as it fills up. And there’s great outdoor seating during the warmer months.
