Hampton Inn Washington Downtown Convention Center

The elevator service in this hotel is, awful. Two elevators for 13 floors. With no service elevator.
Spent most of my visit waiting for elevators. No fun
Business center was ok… printing required a secure process that frankly didn’t work.
The breakfasts were mediocre, same food everyday… not much variety.
The wireless service, touted as complimentary… was very weak and didn’t work with my Samsung Note 4
Very mediocre place. Two stars were an extra one for the nice staff trying to make due with poor infrastructure.

I came for work so I didn’t pay for this stay. I mention that since I expect a certain level depending on the price of a night and from my understanding, this place isn’t cheap. Nonetheless, I’m writing this review on the things I liked.
1) Great location near the Chinatown metro. It’s also relatively close to the National Mall, Union Station, 14^th Street bars and restaurant, and the newish City Center.
2) They serve a pretty good breakfast and have coffee available 24 hours a day.
3) Staff seemed pretty nice overall when I spoke to them.
The biggest downside was that the Internet in the rooms were very slow. You can stream YouTube but it didn’t work all the time.
Overall, I would stay here again for work.

You would think that for $ 249 per night, you could get some decent internet and maybe even some 2-​ply toilet paper…

Great family friendly hotel. From the valet staff to the front desk, cleaning staff and maintenance. Safe location and with our three kids 10, 7 and 5, we were able to get to many main attractions that were walkable. Good breakfast with fresh grab and go fruit, waffles (always a long line unless you get there early), yogurts, oatmeal, fresh coffee and tea (all day) and hot breakfast options. Our room was clean our entire stay (3 nights). The rooms were a decent size. The furniture is a little bulky for the room size but we were not in it very long and when we were it was fine. The only feedback would be the pool area. While you can never predict how many families will be in there at any given time — it seemed to be left unattended from 6:30pm and on. The towels were scarce and hair on the floor and the disappointing part was the hot tub was always low and NEVER warm. We noticed twice while we were there that other families were calling to have the hot tub refilled and maintenance came right away but then the hot tub was colder than the pool. Our kids sure enjoyed it but it would have been nice to enjoy the hot tub after a day of walking and sight seeing. That said, we would be back because we felt like it was a great locale that was clean and safe and near main attractions, coffee shops and restaurants.

Great hotel experience from beginning to end! The room was clean and cozy with a nice view of the city. Good water pressure in the shower and the pool was small but clean with plenty of towels. The staff –front desk, valets, housekeeping, and breakfast crew-​went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was hot and plentiful with ample seating in the lounge area. Breakfast staff hustled to constantly replace trays with hot and fresh trays. Coffee is always available with choices of regular, robust, and decaf. Great downtown location with a grocery store one block away. Would stay here again as parking, Wifi, and breakfast were included in the package we purchased! Only downside was the ever present DC sirens throughout the night– bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

My stay has been wonderful. The people here are exceptionally friendly and professionaly. The hotel is clean and beautiful. Free wifi, breakfast, a pool, spa, gym, and it’s walking distance from the convention center. It also has a bar down stairs if you like to drink. I’m glad I chose to stay here and will keep this place in mind in the future for all my hotel reservations.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Hampton Inn — Washington Downtown Convention Center for 5 nights and had a great stay! As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted by Christina, who is a perfect example of how customer service should be! She is personable, professional and overall, excellent! Definitely a great face for Hampton Inn. We instantly felt welcomed upon arrival.
If you’re traveling DC by foot, the hotel is a ~20−25 minute walk from the National Mall, and 5 – 10 minutes to Chinatown (and the Chinatown metro). There are a lot of neighboring restaurants around the area if you’re looking to dine out. The Verizon Center is also within walking distance if you’re in town for an event.
Breakfast is served every morning. From cereal, oatmeal, waffles, and sausage. There’s a selection for just about everyone. Coffee is always out in the lobby, and cookies are served at 5PM daily.
Our overall stay was pleasant. The room was always clean. The staff was always willing to answer any question, and make sure everyone was enjoying their stay. The Wi-​Fi signal is my only complaint. Aside from that, everything was great and I would definitely come back!

The hotel had no record of my information as I tried checking in. I booked via Groupon and showed Christina my voucher and she said it was not an issue and she would take it up with Groupon. Worried that they didn’t have enough space, Christina reassured us that they will accommodate us regardless. They no longer had any rooms that we requested for through our Groupon so she went ahead and upgraded us to a suite! Christina’s professionalism and customer service was a great introduction to the hotel. The other employees were just as personable!
Location of the hotel is awesome. During our stay, my boyfriend and I walked to the Verizon Center for a Wizards game which was only 2 blocks away! So I highly recommend it if you have an event going on there. We took the metro but if you plan on driving, valet parking is $ 42.
Breakfast was great. Had hot foods such as pork and turkey sausage, eggs, and french toast sticks. As well as yogurt, cereal, bread, and fruit.
The wi-​fi and TV signal were not very dependable. We had a problem with our toilet where it wouldn’t flush at times.
Overall: Great price for location. Outstanding customer service! Would recommend and stay again.

People are nice, but there is no menu to the restaurant downstairs in the room. You have to go to the bar to see the menu and then they won’t deliver to your room. Was already in pjs after working, so not happy about having to get ready to go back out. Lady at the bar was super nice and helpful. Pizza was tasty. Just an inconvenient process. Would rather be able to order and receive in the room.

Nice and clean hotel, very friendly staff, just one thing, the tv signal is not the best, but it’s a good hotel, with an awesome location.

Generally I am a big fan of Hampton Inn but our stay at this particular one was disappointing. The people in the room next to us had a wild party complete with 20 – 30 drunk guys, booze, loud music, and God knows what else. They started at 8pm. I gave them the benefit of the doubt they’ll end by the time we went to sleep, but I should also disclose we were scared of retaliation if we reported them. At 10:30 the party was still as raucous as ever so I finally called the front desk to complain. A few minutes later they sent up the security guard to knock on their door. The guard told these criminal-​looking thugs that «your neighbors are complaining». I was horrified. I couldn’t sleep the rest of the evening wondering if we’d be assassinated the next morning by these drunk neighbors.
Why couldn’t the guard just man up and tell the neighbors the hotel had a no-​party policy? Isn’t that the point? it was inappropriate the security guard mentioned to these guys that their neighbors were complaining. I guess he didn’t really care or consider our safety.
Anyway, the party went on until 2am even after I had called the front desk two more times at 12am and 1:30am. So the hotel didn’t really settle my first complaint call until over 3 hours later. The hotel discounted our rate but after that hellish night I don’t think we’ll return to that particular Hampton.

Another amazing stay here! This is my second time here and the staff once again was amazing. The elevators are slow but that is my only con.

This Hampton inn was very accompanying a is standard with most Hampton locations. Our AC was not very cold when we first checked in and once we alerted them to the problem on our way out, it was nice and cool upon returning. The staff was super friendly and let us leave our luggage while we explored without complaint. I would absolutely stay here again: the service was friendly, the location is awesome, and the rooms were very comfortable

We only stayed here for a night, but they were very accommodating. We didn’t have a hair dryer in our room (first world problems) and I forgot a toothbrush, both of which they quickly fixed. Very kind and plush accommodations. Plus… free breakfast! Minus… eggs tasted instant. They let us check I’m early and held out luggage without question while we were in the process of changing hotels.

I stayed here for four nights recently and was very pleased with my stay.
I had taken a red-​eye flight from Seattle and arrived at the Hampton Inn about 7:30 AM. The front desk staff were able to give me a room immediately which was greatly appreciated. Due to the circumstances, I was not able to be given what would have been my first choice of room. I was on the second floor directly above hotel entrance. I was initially concerned that I might be bothered by outside noise. But, the windows must be quadruple-​paned because, except for a siren or two, during my entire stay, I did not hear a sound from general hotel traffic, city buses, or even the construction site across the street.
The room itself was large, clean, and had lots appreciated extras — including a microwave (to heat water for my morning tea) and a nightlight in the bathroom (which provided just enough illumination to allow me to see where I needed to be when nature called in the middle of the night).
The location, just two blocks or so from the convention center where I was attending a conference, was perfect. Being so close, I was able to go back to my room in-​between sessions to do a bit of work or just relax. One morning, I overslept and did not have time to eat before I headed to my first session. But, that session ended at 9:30 AM and I had a break after. AND, because the Hampton Inn’s breakfast is served until 10:00 AM, I was able to trek back to the hotel for a quick bite to eat at that time. (The hotel is also close to several good restaurants and some fabulous museums, which I was able to take advantage of during my off-​hours.)
The food served up at the breakfast is far from gourmet, but fills a hole. And, the breakfast room here is markedly less harried than I have experienced at just about every other complimentary hotel breakfast buffet I have encountered.
The staff here — from the front desk to the breakfast room workers to the cleaning crew to the bellmen — were all very friendly, professional, and helpful.
In short, my experience here was only positive. I would happily return to the Hampton Inn were life (either business or pleasure) to bring me back to our nation’s beautiful capital.

My room had a floor lamp, but no easy chair to read in. It was so unusual not to have an easy chair that I went to the lobby to ask about it. I was told that many rooms don’t have them.
Another problem was that it took forever for the water in the shower to get warm enough.
My room was clean, but when I was returning to my room after dinner another person was walking down the hall, moving to another room. She talked to a hotel employee walking with her about her previous room being dirty.
The hotel is in walking distance to the Mt. Vernon Square and Gallery Place metro stops, and to the Washington Convention Center. It is an acceptable choice for this area, but I can’t recommend it as a top choice.

This is a great property. Although a Hampton Inn, it has all the features one would want if you are in Washington on business in this area of the city — and especially near the Convention Center. The staff is fantastic; polite, helpful and oriented in providing a great stay, meals and other services — everyone I have come in contact with is wonderful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. The free breakfast in the morning has many selections and will fill you up. The 6^th Street bar + food restaurant is equally convenient and has everything one would want.
The hotel’s location is convenient to the Verizon Center, Chinatown, the Convention Center, running routes and Metro stops. You will have a memorable stay!

I am normally a fan of Hampton Inn, but this one did not leave the best first impression. After checking in fairly late (3 am) and finally getting settled and to bed, we realized 2 hours later that the toilet was broken. So we called the front desk only to be told there «was not an engineer on duty.» They then told us we could switch rooms. Luckily the new room was right across the hall.
Additionally, the hotel charged my girlfriend’s card twice and when we went to tell them, the gentleman behind the desk didn’t seem to understand and they were basically talking in circles. The bank finally straightened it out since the hotel didn’t do anything.
Nice accommodations, but I would recommend staying elsewhere in the city.

I was in town a couple of weeks ago for a concert and we ended up staying here. I’ve had mixed results with Hampton Inn’s in other locations before however they did a great job here. I selected this location primarily because it was extremely close to the Verizon Center (about 2 – 3 blocks) and they have an underground parking garage for the car. I was able to get a rate with parking included and if you’ve ever parked in DC you know daily parking is going to run you a minimum of about $ 40 or more a day.
All in all the hotel was great. We were up on the 10^th floor away from all the street noise. The room was also comfortable and there was decent hotel internet to boot. It wasn’t fast, but it was dependable. I’d definitely stay here again.

For my 999^th review, I wanted to review a place that I didn’t like so I could say «Nein! Nein! Nein!» like I was saying «no» in German three times.
Therefore, I chose the Hampton Inn in DC. My regular readers will know I only stay at Hilton properties and I’ve stayed here before, but this stay was the worst.
Was in DC in July, which is hot and miserable. The first night, the room felt warm so the next morning at 8:00 am, I went down to the desk (after having my free breakfast which was just «meh») and told the guy the AC wasn’t working and could he have someone fix it. He asked when he could send someone up and I said «We will be gone all day, so any time is fine».
Return to the room at 11:00 pm after a full day of sightseeing, a Nationals game, a party at a friends house and then a nightcap at a bar. All I wanted to do is go to sleep. We get to the room and it’s 78 degrees and humid in there. Call the front desk and ask if anyone had come to look at the AC and the lady said «We have no record of that». WTF? A guy comes up and says «Oh yeah, this won’t work». Duh and/​or hello! I told you that 15 hours ago.
Luckily they were able to move us to another room but it’s not convenient to have to pack up your stuff at 11:30 and move to another room, esp when you gave them 15 hours to fix the problem.
I love most Hampton Inns, but to this one, I have to say «Nein! Nein! Nein!»
