Homewood Suites

While this isn’t a awful hotel, it is far from being the crown of the Hilton chain and should not use the name Homewood.
If you are looking just to keep a roof over your head this is the place for you. I stayed here two weeks and other than the nice house keeping staff and the parking attendants all other staff should go stay at a Homewood somewhere else to learn that the rest of their counter parts are polite and helpful. I started off with giving two stars and then remembered how many times I saw rude, lazy, or uncaring staff working the lobby area. And don’t be in the dinning are when the laundry is being done, It make so much noise and rattles the floor.

Great staff attentive to all your needs treated you like part of a family and not a customer staff made an extra effort to make sure everything was going well. I will be back

In DC for work and really pleased with this hotel. Everything is clean and comfortable, the staff is incredibly friendly, there’s a full breakfast and happy hour, and it’s fairly convenient — not really sure what else I could ask for.

You can be having the time of your life taking in the White House, monuments, museums, and attractions; and just like that a terrible hotel experience can ruin everything. On the opposite extreme, a pleasant hotel experience elevates an enjoyable vacation. Spending a week in Homewood Suites this summer was a good decision.
Homewood Suites is a Hilton hotel chain. They specialize in suites. This is my first time staying there. When we meet up in a different city Hilton’s Embassy Suites is our hotel of choice. There were none in the immediate area of the White House and attractions. Homewood Suites was the perfect location:
Location: Rate it 90%
Located on the northwest of Thomas Circle, Homewood Suites is close to everything. When you are on vacation, location is crucial. It is where 14^th Avenue immediately to the north transitions to the U Street Corridor neighborhood. This is a hip neighborhood with bars, restaurants, and nightlife. A few blocks east is China Town and Verizon Center. Around a 45 minute to hour walk is Georgetown to the west. A much closer walk is Dupont Circle northwest. It is a relatively short walk south that leads to the White House, monuments, museums, and attractions. The hotel is also a short cab ride down 14^th Street over the river to the airport. Sprinkled around the hotel are coffee houses, CVS stores, restaurants, and points of interest.
Room: Rate it 90%
The suites are spacious and comfortable. They include a kitchen, two rooms with a fold open couch in the main room and two comfortable beds in the bedroom. The suite is more about space than elegance. The room also included two tvs. The view outside was not worth opening the drapes. Everyday, the Maid did a good job cleaning the suite.
Ammenities: Rate it 85%
The daily breakfast and Manager Reception from Monday to Thursday between 5:30 to 7:30 was my favorite ammenity. The Manager’s reception featured Sumter Home wine, draft beer, snacks, and on Thursday went all out with cheeseburgers and soup. In comparison to the Embassy Suites Manager reception, this one is second-​rate. They are very strict about alcohol here, and at 7:30 drink it up or spill it out. The breakfast was good but in comparison to Embassy Suites it was second rate. Throughout the day there was complimentary coffee in the lobby near the comfortable couches. From the lobby to the hotel room, WiFi was complimentary. The hotel claims to have 24 hour concierge. In reality the concierge is whoever is at the desk or the bellman answering your question. My complaint regarding ammenities is that there is a need for an attached bar or restaurant. The little room adjacent to the desk sells snacks at off the charts prices that requires a walk across the labyrinth of roadways radiating out from Thomas Circle. Speaking of roads, parking is an expensive inconvenience here. Fortunately we alleviated that headache by travelling between airplane and taxi.
Conclusion: Rate Homewood Suites 90%
Homewood Suite is a comfortable all suite hotel in a nice location close to the White House, museums, monuments, and attractions. It is a welcoming place to come home to call home when you visit Washington DC.

The rooms are nice. The managers have welcome snacks Monday — Thursday. If friends are visiting, you can find metered parking half a block away ($ 2.00/hour until 8:30pm). If you want other munchies, walk across the street to CVS instead of over paying for popcorn, drinks and other munchies. The hotel doesn’t have a shuttle.

What a great place to spend an extended stay in Washington DC. Located right in the middle of downtown at Logan Circle, each direction you walk is a short distance to good food, bars and nightlife, or monuments, beautiful architecture, and museums displaying artifacts from our nation’s history. Whether your are staying for business, or traveling with the family, this hotel provides spacious, clean rooms that avoid the cramped feeling you get after a few days in most establishments.
Some nice perks offered by the Homewood are a free full breakfast every morning and coffee/​tea 24 – 7. Also included is complimentary WiFi in each room, which was surprisingly fast and more than suited my needs to run a work and personal laptop in the evenings. But the kicker for me was the evening social, where they provided a lite snack which ranged from chips and salsa to cheese burgers and pasta, and complimentary beer (Yeungling!) and wine.
To close, Angela, Maryanne and their wonderful staff are by far the most accommodating and pleasant group of hospitality professionals I have seen during a hotel stay. Their courtesy made me feel right at home, and made my time away from my family as comfortable as possible. They truly care about their customers, and went above and beyond what i expected when i checked in. Give them a shot if you are looking to stay in DC, you wont be disappointed!

This is by far the best place I have stayed in for extended stay. This GM has hired the best staff to make you feel like you have family away from home. I’m hooked to visit anytime Iam in D.C. Good location. It’s closer to whole foods and Dupont Cire but only a 20 minute walk to monuments or a train ride away. Great job Hilton, I am impressed.

Location:
McPherson Metro is about 4 blocks away to pick up the blue/​orange lines. There is a CVS about a block away, as well as West Wing Café and Zoup (great for cold days and long walks). Getting to the hotel if you are driving on the wrong side of the street is a pain. Omg a pain. It took me an extra 45 min to get there in traffic with one of the roads closed.
Parking:
A joke. No self parking allowed and valet costs about $ 45/​day. The valet guy was friendly, helped with my bags and was pretty quick. I just dont like the massive charge for something that is mandatory. (and my travel agent didnt mention it. but thats not the hotels fault).
Staff:
Extremely friendly for the most part. One of the front desk guys was a little rigid. It was strange that I was never asked for an id/​room key or anything to charge something to the room.
Amenities:
–Free Breakfast is always great. Some rude old lady moved my drink from a table while I was getting food, and then acted like it was her right. but some people are just like that I guess. Breakfast goes until 9 on weekdays.
–Free Dinner would have been great too, but I was never in the hotel from 5 – 7 to find out. They have a full month calendar on the fridge in the room so you know ahead of time what will be served.
–The ‘gym’ is pretty useless. I chose to use a coworkers hotel gym instead.
–Meeting room areas were all closed for construction.
-‘Suite shop’ was a great alternative to having to keep going to cvs for beverages!
The room:
Full size fridge, microwave, double burner stove top, dishwasher, plates/​silverware/​etc (i had no forks though), couch, chair, a tv in the main space and the bedroom. The closet doors were mirrored and facing the beds (which isnt my thing). the sink area is a decent size. double beds, kind of small and uncomfortable though. And I kept my curtains closed because the interior (odd #) rooms all face other rooms.
Overall:
The place was mostly clean. Nothing too major one way or another. My room was somehow missing forks (but hey, I had a serving spoon!). They need more seating at breakfast. The beds arent very comfortable until its 1 am and youve been running around town for 15 hours. and the wifi was sort of a pain.

The hotel it’s great. There were a few problems with the customer service but it was just one employee. Aside from that the rooms are big. The location of the hotel is in the center of the city. They as well give you a sheet with address and numbers of restaurant you could call for delivery or dine in. The hotel itself has a beautiful architecture. The price of the room was expensive, but worth it.

This hotel suite fitted a family traveling with two youths perfectly. We enjoyed having our own room while the kids had their own space separated by a double door. Each room had its own TV and the kids slept in a pull out bed. A tasty, hot breakfast is provided daily. Being a Hilton Honoree and a AAA member helps with the reasonable rates. Great location. Close to the White House and the Big Bus tour stops. We all worked out in the small but clean workout room. The kids enjoyed their custom TV screens and brought their ear buds. You do pay a price of $ 45 per day parking but to us it was worth it not to have to worry about the car in the big city. Excellent value. The entire staff was courteous and helpful. We brought pizza in on our last night and there is room to eat in the furnished kitchen.
We will be back!

Right in the city, this big suite hotel offers suburban-​style wide open spaces, free data, free breakfast and light dinner, and even (can you believe it) free wine and beer in the evenings! But hey you really are still in the city, valet parking is $ 35 plus tax, and there’s no self-​park option.
My two-​room suite was large, clean and had a little kitchen too, which I ignored shamelessly :) My bed was very comfortable and I frankly don’t know if I had 5, 6 or 7 pillows, past two I kinda lose count. Not one but two big TVs, and most of the channels were HD, even had a DVD player in the sitting room, that’s rare!
Check-​in dudes were willing to yuk it up a little, a little humor goes a long way with me, nice to stay with people who are friendly. The data service in the room included ethernet with a cable in the room and it was very quick, didn’t run a speedtest but it served me very well.
The Homewood serves a light dinner most weeknights with free drinks too, when I visited it was Miller Lite and Yuengling, also Sutter Home Chardonnay and Merlot. Not your taste? Did I mention free alcohol? That always helps it taste better LOL. Breakfast was a spread of scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, breads, hot oatmeal, juices, milks, make-​your-​own waffles and some hot liquids resembling coffee. Usually Homewoods serve on china with real forks — the kind you can’t take on an airplane haha — but here the’ve gone most to styrofoam and plastic.
Located right on Thomas Circle NW, you can walk easily to Starbucks on Vermont Ave. Metro stations are not dead close, but a 10 minute walk gets you to McPherson Square (Blue/​Orange lines), or just a little bit longer to Farragut North (Red line).

Unsatisfied with my trip to DC. The last thing you want to do after a long ride through traffic and tourist areas is to be told there’s no parking in the hotel you paid for. Which I had to inconveniently park in another lot which cost 44 $ over night. No manager on site to speak to. Rooms were just ok — nothing special, an okay place to crash. Rude lady at front desk who was not helpful and told us to park in Washington Plaza lot which doesn’t mention they close on weekends, so pretty much would’ve been carless all weekend had i not been told otherwise. Wifi was BAD! Nice that they offer breakfast but good luck getting a seat, overly crowded and food was nothing special. Overall unhappy. No managers or good hospitality. Made my stay at DC unwelcoming and not coming back.

I was sold with «free breakfast & dinner (with beer & wine) most week nights.» Great little living room & office/​kitchen in every room. Very friendly staff. Great location ~10 minute walk from Metro. And, from my experience, they actually follow their ~eco policy related to washing towels and sheets, which I appreciate.

The breakfast was over crowded. At one point, they ran out of plates. The staff wasn’t very hospitable. There always seemed to be a line at the front desk, and the valet was slow. The Internet speeds were TERRIBLE. It was like dial up. It was VERY annoying. Next time I’m in DC, I’m staying somewhere that has business class rooms. WAY too many tourists to stay here for a business trip where you need to be working.
The room was VERY nice. I have no complaints about that aspect at all. Housekeeping also did a great job.

We were in Wash D.C. On vacation for six nights. Rather than pay for two rooms, I looked into suites. Came across Homewood Suites by Hilton. Full kitchen too. We didn’t cook, but utilize the fridge.
Full breakfast, free Internet, afternoon wine, beer, and early dinner are good reasons to consider this hotel. During the week its a combo of business and leisure travelers. On weekends, there are lots of families.
Breakfast served daily. Scrambled eggs every day; however, other items rotated. 1^st day we had eggs, sausage patty, potatoes. Another day it was turkey bacon, flat tater tots. Another day it was sausage, biscuits and gravy. Bananas, apples, and oranges. Yogurt, cereal, muffins, bagels, and make your own waffle.
Early dinner hour– we only ate twice. Dinner offered M-​Thur only. First night we were there we had chicken tenders, broccoli, and wild rice. Second night we had baked tilapia fish, cut string beans. Pretty decent for bulk food, but I wouldn’t want to eat dinner there every night.
The hotel is fairly central to areas you might want to vist with the White House being the closest. The nearest Metro station is McPherson Square. 4 blocks from hotel.
You can stock your fridge — Whole Foods is three blocks and CVS Pharmacy is half block down around the corner.
I would consider staying here again.

A solid hotel in a convenient location about ⁶⁄₁₀ of a mile from Convention Center, which was an easy walk. Nice sized rooms, decent, basic breakfast, nice reception at night. front desk staff was superb, particularly on check-​in. Great value.

I mostly stay here because it’s close to my office. They have free breakfast and dinner which is decent. A lot of people like to stay here because they’re is free wine and beer at dinner. The hotel has not been updated in awhile so it could use some love. But overall clean.

I use this hotel regularly for both work and personal. There service is fabulous, the amentities great, and the décor and maintenance top notch. Highly recommend.

It is impossibly hard to find a hotel in DC with free breakfast, free internet, free happy hour. This was a great hotel suite with two separate rooms, a kitchen with all the amenities, and two tv’s. It’s pretty close to the McPherson square Metro station (4 blocks away), and it’s close to the white house. It does not have a pool (boo), but has a tiny fitness center and a business center with 2 working computers and a printer. The only problem I had here was that I had the hardest time getting my tax on the hotel exempt for being a government employee. None of my coworkers had any problems whatsoever at different hotels in DC. Finally, on the second to last day, they finally agreed to do it for me. Even the other Hilton’s in the DC area took tax exempt forms with no problems, it was just this one!

Well kept hotel in a great location. It’s an exceptional value when you factor in the full kitchen and extra sofa-​bed in each room. I wish the Metro stations were closer to this place, but that’s my only complaint.
