The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center

Booked a reservation through Hotel Tonight for June 3 – 5, 2016. Upon arrival prior to even asking for my last name the young woman at the front desk tells me that they’re sold out for the evening. I proceeded to tell her my first and last name, so she creates a NEW reservation somehow. Here’s where the problems began:
1) She created this new reservation for one night when my original reservation was for two. Hence, the maid came the next day thinking we were checking out.
2) She did not give me the new reservation’s confirmation number.
3) My friend who was staying in the room with me put down his CC for the deposit, so when it came time to check-​out. We made sure we checked out in person.
4) Fast forward to June 16, 2016 aka 10 days later — THE DEPOSIT ON MY FRIEND’S CC HAS STILL NOT BEEN REFUNDED. Yet the transaction is still on his account. But of course, because the guest agent made an entire new reservation, I cannot refer to my original reservation when contacting management. To make things worse, the guest agent filed me as a no-​show on my original reservation!
The front desk staff at this hotel is such an unfortunate mess. Avoid this hotel by all means, they are dishonest and lack basic customer service skills.

Stayed here this week for work. I tried to check in early at noon, they were so busy the night before they could only guarantee it by 3. I came back from my meeting at 5 and had a room. They did hold my luggage. Parking is super expensive.59/day valet. The shower was a rain shower with a body one too. I would normally rate it 4 stars, but giving it five because a baby bird trying to fly came crashing down from the valet vaulted ceiling and made a splat sound right in front of my face as i was leaving to go in my car. while it freaked me out to touch it as i thought it was dead, this employee picked it up and saw i was a little distraught haha but he showed me it was okay and alive. He didnt have to do that, he put it in the flower box for safety so noone ran it over in the valet path. It filled me with that warm and fuzzy feeling and i wish i got his name but i was too shaken up :-)

This is a pricey hotel in the Starwood network in the heart of DC. The Fringetree Restaurant is mad expensive! Eggs Benedict for $ 20? No thanks. The first night we stayed here the fire alarm went off around midnight! We promptly marched down 10 flights of stairs with other bleary-​eyed guests. We hung out in the lobby and used the employee elevator to get back to our room.
There is no swimming pool. They have a fitness center on the lobby floor. The atrium is different. Every room has a view of the atrium. Our premium room was typical. 2 beds, desk, flat screen TV on a nightstand. Bathroom shower and sink were nice.
Overall, I can’t recall anything outstanding while staying here. The location is great near DuPont Circle. If you are looking for a convenient location to the DC tourist sites, this is good hotel but a bit pricey for the average Joe. I stayed here as a Starwood Preferred Member and we didn’t get any perks like we did at other DC hotels. One would think with the name like the Westin, one would feel an impact.
None other than the norm for us.

This place is located in the heart of DC and is pretty unique to me because I have never stayed at a hotel where one you have indoor balconies and two your whole room is surrounded by windows. I’d say 60 to 70 percent of the room is. Like literally you can the majority of the hotel from your bedroom, living room area, the walk way in and the balcony opens up towards the lobby… pretty weird, you can give a speech from your balcony and everyone from the lobby could hear ya. Like I tried to close all the shades, blinds and curtains but you could still make out so much, that it feel private at all. The bathrooms are huge, but the toliet area is behind a door and has no vents, kind of pushes feelings of claustrophobia on ya… they have a bidet lol. Anyhow the room was quite spacious, clean and somewhat cozy. I’d give it a few 3 or 4 stars but I can’t get over the birdcage feeling here. The lobby is loud as you can hear everything from there and anyone in the lobby could hear you. Only positive part of this hotel was it’s location, shower, jacuzzi, and the lobby area was pretty decent.
This place definitely looks great until you are in there.

Small rooms, but not bad. The price is definitely for the location because there’s nothing overly great about the rooms.
The bed is AMAZING! Their heavenly beds have never let me down.
I brought my 11lb. dog with me and it was fine. No pet fee! There’s a small grass strip across the street that dogs can use. Just make sure to bring your own doggy bags.
Valet is a bit steep. $ 59 a day. You can pull it out as many times as you’d like, but they can’t negotiate price even if you’re never taking it out. The valet company is separate from hotel staff, so the hotel can’t have a say in price.
A great thing I liked was that nobody could access the room levels without a key. A room key is needed every time you’re in the elevator heading to the rooms, except for when you’re heading to the lobby.
Overall, enjoyable stay. Interior design of the lobby was very nice and welcoming.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH CLEANING SERVICE. We came here for just 3 nights during our visit in Washington, D.C. After the first night when we walked into the room the next day and thought our room would be cleaned and we saw that all they did was just make the bed (an old sewing kit and empty water bottle were still left on the floor which made me feel like they didn’t even clean the carpets) I wasn’t sure if I was just used to staying at more upscale hotels but then after our 2^nd night when we came to the room the maid wrote a note for us which read «TO THE GUEST, CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE YOUR CLOTHES AWAY FROM THE BED. — THE MAID»
we were so insulted and offended by the maid telling us where we should leave our clothes (and by the way there was at most 1 – 2 articles of clothing on the bed), we called the manager who only discounted half of one of the 3 nights we were there.
Not worth it to come here again for their lack of cleaning and rude cleaning crew.

I stay at a number of Westins and was very disappointed with this one. The rooms were clean and fine but it started and ended there. The service in the bar was atrocious and the valet parking is a ripoff and there are no alternatives for handicap people. The manager of the hotels said they don’t own the parking g but that’s hard to believe since its in their basement. They also dropped on several other items such as restocking food, etc…
It this was a holiday inn I wouldn’t have been surprised. Bit certainly not a westin

This review is for the happy hour. Beautiful setting, ok wine selection (although I had an ice cold bubbling glass of champagne! YEAH!), nice appetizers at a great price! Their house made hummus is a wonderful pairing for a drink, as are home made potato chips. Lovely service, clean digs, bright, tasteful. Not a bad watering hole. And with our beloved MIO closed… its a place to crash and cry in our beer! (or wine, or cider, or martini, or…)

As a Platinum member, I often stay in Starwood properties and this has to be one of the worst service experiences I’ve encountered. From the Internet not working to the multiple attempts it required to actually get them to retrieve my car, the service level is really poor. Rooms are clean, but I’d stay elsewhere.

Came on the weekend of storm jonas and the staff at the Westin could now have been more accommodating letting us do a late check out with no fee and also offering hot chocolate and apple cider in lobby when you came in from the cold. Great location we were walking distance from the white house and the Lincoln memorial which were magical looking in the snow .
Room was so comfortable and very clean.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

First off the lobby and bathroom in the hotel are beautiful. The shower head is awesome. The staff at the front desk are unfriendly. She seemed snobby at check-​in almost as if I was a bother to her. The carpets in the hallway are visibly dirty. There was bags of dirty towels sitting in the hallway in multiple locations.
The holding charge they put on the card you use is a huge inconvenience. Also they charge 5 $ for a bottle of water and don’t even think about touching the fridge. You’ll be charged a ridiculous amount.
Also the valet parking fee is outrageous. 50 $ for one night.
Would not stay again.

Stayed at the hotel on a weekend. There must have been a wedding the weekend that I was there because when I went to use the valet to park my car I was told that the garage was full. When I asked what the other parking options were I was told that I would have to find street or a parking lot to park. The attendant then said that I probably won’t find parking. When I asked what the other options were I was told there were none. Here I am, already having checked in, driving around DC looking for parking near the hotel, unable to find any. I ended up talking to the hotel manager who allowed me to park my car near the valet pick up.
Tip if you do stay here, park your car early in the day and Über it if you are to go anywhere.
The room was decent, more of a 3 to 4 star hotel room.
Overall, I’d probably opt to stay at a different hotel if you have the option. The parking situation and the way the situation was handled had me upset. Opt for a room in the atrium if you’re a light sleeper, the street noise can be loud.

I was really impressed with our stay here. Booked through HotelTonight so we could stay in the city and go out without having to worry about driving all the way back to Annapolis after drinking or getting a DD or very expensive über.
Got an amazing «Geo Rate» on a Saturday in late November, and it’s likely because this seems to be a business hotel instead of a leisure hotel. The area here is more downtown and suited to the M-​F crowd meanwhile the Georgetown and AdMo areas have more of the nightlife and subsequently the hotels were sold out or more expensive. The Über rides were cheap and the money we saved made this amazing hotel worth it.
The rooms mostly face inward to face the inside of the hotel. This is kind of interesting because the architecture of the building sets it up in a ring like structure so that there are about 8 floors of rooms set up in an outer ring, all looking down on the lobby. You lose a lot of floor space in the center for this look. You have to be careful and CLOSE THE CURTAINS. Both of them-​there are sheer ones and thicker ones, and we saw right into some people’s rooms across the way when the rooms were fully lit without even trying.
The bed here was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Huge king size with more than enough pillows, and that’s a lot for me. The photos we saw on HT had a glass shower door and our room had a typical shower curtain which was a tad bit disappointing, but there was still the huge rain shower head, which more than made up for it.
We had a few drinks at the hotel bar here-it’s really a nice place to relax and chill for a bit before you go out for the evening as we did. I will totally come back here and stay again-​I want to stay in one of the «suites» in the middle of the area which look like a mini apartment-​they looked like they were amazing. Service here was awesome, amenities were everything you expect from the Westin.

Without a doubt, the most amazing hotel beds! Great location to the convention center, easy walk with plenty of dining places to and from and a Starbucks in the lobby. Conveniently located to Reagan airport as well as Amtrac if you are heading up to the city from DC. You must check out Rural Society restaurant around the block!

There are so many hotels in DC to choose from! My husband chose this hotel because he’s a member of the chain and it was close to the Georgetown Hospital where I was having surgery.
The room was a nice size, we were lucky enough to get a corner room with two walls of windows. We had a little noise from M street but I had my ear plugs with me.
The big reason why I’ve given it only two stars, and I hate to do this because the service here was good, but I’m a bit OCD about cleanliness and this place drove me nuts. Every wall around the commode had long drips down them, the shower had mold, the carpet had spots of some purple stuff between the beds and the faucets leaked over the counter tops.
I was also allergic to something in the bedding, so if you’re allergy prone, just a note.
The «green» feature, when you pull your room key out and it shuts down electricity to the room, shuts down the internet and all device charging.
My husband called for assistance from the IT department listed with the login error each time he needed Internet access. I gave up and paid an additional $ 15 for data roaming on my tablet.
There’s a fully stocked little fridge and tray on the counter above it, if you move any items you’re immediately charged for it. There’s no room to put any of your own items in the fridge and if you do, you’ll be charged $ 100. It’s all weighted. They’ll bring you another fridge but again, up charge. Even the ice bucket is one of the smallest I’ve seen, my husband barely fit the single serving bottle of orange juice he bought for the morning.
As I said, the service here is good. Friendly staff. We ordered room service a couple of times and it was very prompt and friendly service, so I hate giving the 2 stars but I would not return.

Lovely rooms. Friendly staff. The bell hop/​concierge was overwhelmed at one point while processing our Big Bus passes. They kept asking him to do everything while he was clearing helping us.
The last morning we attempted to to eat at the restaurant because we were crunched on time for our bus left in an hour to the airport.
$ 6 for coffee per person?
$ 8 for yogurt parfait?
$ 24 buffet? $ 18 continental?
You are kidding me with these prices right?
We promptly excused ourselves from the table and walked to West Wing Café. Our bill was $ 15 for everything. Less than one person would have paid at the hotel restaurant. And… It was great!
Maybe the hotel needs to re-​evaluate the prices on their menus. For there were only 5 total people in the restaurant when we walked in at 8:30am.
Other than the restaurant, the hotel was great! Very clean and classy. We were very pleased with our room!

Westin is definitely a notch above Marriott Courtyard and this specific property was really comfortable and even elegant. Here are some key things working or not working out for them:
(1) well stocked fitness room — earphones, towels, water, wipes, the whole 3 yards
(2) good gym equipment — all working and clean
(3) very comfortable bed, large room (apparently I had an upgrade), and a nice rain shower (and a handheld shower that actually worked!). The shower flow, tho, was mediocre at best at around 7:30 am.
(4) checkin was slow — they could work on that.
(5) the interior of the hotel was actually pleasant and not stuffy or dorm like — good work on the interior design.
(6) Good size TV but the remote barely worked. Could use some quality controls here.

The westin was fantastic in DC. Amazing service, beautiful rooms and an awesome interior architecture. We arrived two hours early and they rushed our rooms to be completed to ensure we had a great stay. Our rooms were clean, the beds were nice and the whole atmosphere was pleasant. Walking in the lobby it looks like out outdoor architecture with a ceiling… It’s interesting. Somewhat impractical but it makes for a great eye candy.
Overall, the amenities were great, the service was fantastic. The location was a little out of the way, b t for what we paid, im extremely happy.

Great location! Walking distance from plenty of restaurants/​bars. Only about a 10 minute walk to Dupont Circle area. Their atrium is interesting in that you can see plenty of the rooms from the lobby. For instance, the view to my room was the hotel lobby. I didn’t mind it though. Thought it might’ve been a little loud, but I couldn’t hear a thing that went on in the hotel.
One complaint is that the fire alarm went off at 8AM. Of course this isn’t necessarily the hotel’s fault and thankfully it was just a false alarm, but still an annoyance when you’re trying to sleep.
Rooms were clean and spacious. I never use wifi, so I’m not sure what the cost for that is. Also, I parked on the street, so not sure how much the garage parking is either.
I’d definitely stay here again!

Let’s face it. I get a hotel to sleep and it is not happening here. The hotel has a traditional DC style indoor atrium and somewhere within it must’ve been a preschool convention. It’s noisy. That and the fact that the paper thin walls reveal when my neighbors wake up and use their tvs makes this a tough spot to get shut eye.
The fitness facility is nice but at least two cardio machines are not functioning which is bad news at peak hour.
Breakfast was good and had a variety of choices — super congenial wait staff and hostess. One of the toilets was plugged up in the bathroom just outside but when I told the hostess, she was right on it.
Heavenly beds are great when it is quiet enough to sleep.
The staff is super friendly and courteous which is why they’re getting two stars.

Ein wirklich schönes Hotel in bester Lage in Washington. Schöné Zimmer, tolles Bad. Das Hotel wurde gerade komplett neu renoviert und bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten. Bei meinem Besuch waren allerdings die Bettlaken schmutzig, und mein Kissen hat nach den Haaren vieler Vorbesucher gerochen. Das Problem wurde sofort behoben.
