I love eating here, this is my go to place between classes. They have great inexpensive pizza. The staff is awesome and very expeditious when it come to preparing orders.

This restaurant is a great alternative to Quiznos and Subway. We went there on a Sunday afternoon for carry out lunch and were very impressed by the service. The staff were friendly, efficient, and organized, and the restaurant was extremely clean, even at the self serve soda fountain. I ordered an Italian cold cut sub that I received within 10 min, and it was on fresh wheat bread and NOT too drenched in dressing. My dining companion got a TNT sub, and I tried the fried jalapeños that were on it, which tasted pretty good. The cold cut ingredients were fresh and all the meat slices were nice and lean. Overall, I will definitely eat there again, and I plan to try their delivery service soon. My only complaints are that they accidentally gave us two orders of fries instead of one order of onion strings and one order of fries(and we were already back home when we realized), and the fries didn’t have much crunch to them. Next time, I would get a side of the excellent fried jalapeños instead.

Two and a half stars. Props for having a Gold Peak tea dispenser. Service is friendly even if they keep forgetting to give me my drink cup when I pick up my order. Smalls are definitely conservatively sized. Honey wheat roll is plush, but the traditional white roll is more appropriate. I preferred the pepperoni cheesesteak over the«original» Philly, since the crisped pepperonis added some textural contrast. The steak meat is reduced to a fine chop. The crabcakes in sandwich form have a nice surface crust and decent crustacean flavor. Cheese pizza not too greasy, only required one pass of paper towel patting. Not sure I’d ever crave this enough to require delivery.

My experience here should not have come as a surprise. Honestly, if I wasn’t using a $ 5 groupon credit to buy a $ 5 groupon for Jerry’s, I would have never gone here for food. Van Ness is a hot spot for fast food chains, and therefore is a cold spot for decent food. The burger was soggy and messily thrown together, the fries were dry and over-salted. I would have gone for subs or pizza as suggested from their name, but I have already had disappointing experiences regarding those choices.

This place is the devil. They now deliver. I will now have to starve myself between meals. Friendly delivery service, but it takes up to an hour to receive the meal. Great food quality, never cold. Awesome cheap eat!

I used to go to Jerry’s Subs and PIzza at least twice a week(Monday because of their 5.99 large pizza deal and on Thursdays because I usually craved a double cheeseburger). Staff are very friendly and this is a super clean place. Nothing really bad to say except for that they have a very limited menu that’s why i give it a 4⁄5 The best thing to get is a Fried Jalapeño Pizza and a Double Cheesburger with everything on it. Hate writing reviews about places like this because I get really hungry afterwards: P

Jerry’s is a local chain, but it’s worth considering for a quick dinner or hearty lunch. This location is owned and operated by a great family and they are some of the friendliest proprietors I’ve encountered in DC. Monday night pizza special is worth considering. Cheesesteaks and subs are also top-notch.

I’m a fan of jerrys, but mostly because of the reason there on of the only places around where you can grab a cheesesteak or sub. The sandwiches are good, but beware the small sandwich is really small. Overall, a good sandwich/sub at a decent price.

Maybe it’s because I grew up eating at these places, but I find their cheesesteaks pretty good. I’m not a dick about cheesesteaks, though. Lettuce and tomato don’t ruin some kind of bizarre steak sandwich integrity as far as I’m concerned. Having been to Philadelphia once does not mean I cannot enjoy a steak sandwich in any other area of the country, either. The sandwiches are pretty expensive, though, which blows. The pizza, though, has always been spectacularly bad, and unless it’s Monday, when a large is 5.99, I can’t fathom why anyone would buy one. For six bucks, the white pizza is tolerable, but their red sauce is truly disgusting.

After having a few drinks at Unilocal-event, I was hungry and couldn’t find a good fast-food place but then I saw Jerry’s and ‘Monday pizza deal’ ad. It met the fast-food standard: 5 min to get a large cheese pizza for $ 5.99 and feel like having a junk-food. Not NY style(crust didn’t flip) pizza junk food, it was. PS: Friendly service though.

Subway, Quizno’s Eat your heart out. Jerry’s Sub is DELICIOUS! I went here today to this Jerry’s Sub location and it was the first time I had ever been to a Jerry’s Sub. This place is great, it is nice, neat, and very organized. The staff there were great, very friendly and even helped my gf and I decide from the menu’s. We ordered a 12″ sub, fries and buffalo wings. After about 10 minutes of waiting our food finally came, fresh. It was so delicious, I was drooling from my mouth! Mmm. everything there was so fresh and tasted so GOOD. Not only did our food come fast, it came in a nice speedy fashion. I thought Jerry’s sub was great and I WILL def be coming here again. I give this place a 5 outta 5. I ordered a sub, fries and medium iced tea one evening around 7 o’clock and this is how things went: 7:01 — I sat down to wait to take my items to go. 7:04 — I witness someone complain about their order being messed up. 7:06 — I’m thinking my sub and fries should be ready by now. 7:08 — My iced tea that I’ve been casually sipping is half gone. 7:10 — My sub is ready, but the woman at the register noticed she gave my fries to someone else. 7:11 — A worker starts the 2 – 3 minute frying process to make my fries 7:13 — My iced tea is nearly gone. 7:15 — I walk out with my sub, fries that were upgraded from medium to large for free because of their mistake, and toss my iced tea cup container in the garbage can on the sidewalk. 7:20 — I tell my roommate how I’m never going to Jerry’s again.

At long last, it is finally open. I must say, it is so strange to enter the space that was once«Passport Restaurant,» now knowing that it is a clean, legitimate, legally operating food establishment. No 19-year-olds doing shots and dancing on pool tables. No college sophomores playing bartender, and no «Dave» passed out on the couch. Can there be life after Passport? For those of you that may not know the scene, much like Passport, there are«patio» areas outside for the pending summer weather. I must say, it’s a whole new world in here. The floors are spotless, there are(clean) mirrors everywhere. The seating is comfortable, with a number of options ranging from booths to bars to high-tables and the like. The lighting is even modernized(dare I say chic?). But as cliches constantly remind us, you can’t eat atmosphere. Granted it is the first day of its opening, the employees clearly have no fucking clue what they are doing. I am trying really hard not to be biased, and I will re-visit this location in a few weeks time, so they have a chance to straighten things out. For now, and for the sake of the Unilocal community, I will tell it like it is. First off — the food quality is what you expect from Jerry’s. It is fresh(well freshly frozen for fast food standards), it tastes good, and it is obviously made right in front of you. The mini fix-in station, as well as the soda fountain are conveniently located around the register. Hell, even the bathrooms look clean and tidy — I’m still haunted by Passport’s amenities, though — it feel like a weird dream. Here comes the shit-show. Their manager was operating the register, but it took 5 centuries to order a sub. My order really wasn’t that complicated. She was also very distracted, as the staff behind her had now idea how to make a sandwich, or put something in the deep fryer, or carry out each sandwich order in the queue it was received. Long story short, it took me 40MINUTES to get my sub… and that was after I went up to the counter to ask«Umm, hey, where the fuck is my order? About 5 people that ordered after me have already received theirs.» Naturally, I didn’t say exactly that, but I still remained courteous. It didn’t help that it took about 10 minutes for the staff to make each sub/pizza/fry-order. When I got up there to finally see what happened, they THEN decided to make my sub. The manager«apologized,» note the quotes, and said that she’d give me free fries for my patience. That’s when I broke it to her that I ORDEREDFRIES. So while I am up there, essentially telling the people how to make a sub they are trained to make, and waiting on fries no-one seems to be able to figure out, the manager gives me a $ 2 credit instead. Aww, shucks, $ 2 — I can get another order of fries that will take about 30 minutes. I know it is spoiled of me to say that, but seriously, any other place, fast food or otherwise, would have comped my whole order by then. It didn’t help that there was this poor family that had been waiting there for about an hour and was still there when I left. Again, the food was good. It wasn’t worth an hour-long ordeal, but I want to go back. I want this place to do well. I want the staff to learn how to do their jobs. I want them to understand procedures and customer service. I’m just not going to roll the dice again until they have enough time to figure out how to succeed at these things. Please, I beg you, give them a month to figure things out… or a night where you’ve got nothing else to do. And yes, I will update this review when I’ve given them ample opportunity to turn things around.
