The pizza here is fantastic and cheap! They offer a variety of toppings, as well as homemade pastas. I had a pizza with pancetta, prosciutto, spinach and fresh mozzarella(which they make daily). it was sooooo good! My husband just had pepperoni. I also ordered a spinach pie too, because I’m greedy! That was perfect! The service was good, although i was skeptical after reading the other reviews on the service. I shall return again!

Serving the best crust pizza in DC for years. Not too much sauce and not drowned in cheese. I generally find the staff to be helpful and friendly — although I do seem to be in the minority on this experience Their fresh pastas are excellent Tiny indifferent wine selection Good prosciutto

Great pizza, terrible service, and could use a cleaning… While I love the pizza, the majority of the staff have no interest in their customers. Service is slow and disinterested — and often flat out rude. As a longtime and treasured neighborhood establishment, it would be nice if the team appreciated their customers the way that the neighborhood seems to have appreciated them over the years.

best pizza you will ever eat hands down — also every random Italian food you could ever dream of!

A woman clerk, most probably from the Far East, was very rude with customers Sunday; took the joy out of going to this place.

This is some of the best tasting pizza around, but the service is a complete joke. You’ll be told a wait time of around 30 minutes. If you get there on time, expect to wait at least 15 – 20 minutes for your pizza with no apology or concern from the staff.

high quality pizza, this is a little Italian market with no seating, they also make fresh pasta and sauces they freeze and you can purchase. Haven’t had the sandwiches yet but they look good, prices are average for DC. Pizza has well balanced crispy chewy dough with great mouth feel, cheese is good quality and sauce is tasty but personally I would prefer a little more sauce. btw the frozen in house made stuffed shells and pastas are very good.

This place is small, but fantastic. I love their fresh pastas, in particular the mushroom agnelotti and veal tortelloni. This is definitely my go-to place when I want high quality, reasonably priced filled pasta. Their spicy Italian sausage also does not disappoint.

We love this place! We come here almost once a week for their pizza-it’s so good! Plus, it’s pretty reasonably priced. I’ve also had both their dry and fresh pasta. I love it all.

Delicious pizza, tried the medium mushroom pie and it came in eight slices which was more than enough for me and my hubby. The price wasn’t anything crazy either, although you will have to wait for about 20min. The library across the street is open till five pm so you can chill there in the meantime(since they don’t have a sitting area). They also offer a variety of Greek and Italian grocery products, fresh pasta like gnocchi, tortellini, ravioli etc. Quick tip; you can have the Bellini soda with your pizza as a change from boring Coca Cola, or one of the pellegrinos that comes in many flavours. If you can’t finish the whole pie and you don’t want to bring the couple of slices back home, there’s a nice old guy who hangs out a bit further right from the store and he would be more than happy to take it out of your hands.

Little hidden gem in DC. Great pizza and general italian food and we all know its hard to find good pizza in DC.

Unbelievable pizza and great food. I love this place. However, I went in once and they told me they were«out of pizza». Really? Also the customer service is not exactly the best, but I don’t-frikking-CARE!

I am sad that my experience here was less than amazing. A friend recommended this place as the«best pizza in DC» and I needed no further convincing. What’s great about Vace is that you can build your own pizza. They have a variety of meats(more than your typical pizza place), including some types of salami that I haven’t even heard of before. We ordered one pizza with mushrooms, prosciutto, and artichoke for pick up and arrived at the time we were told to come. They told us that they had burned our pizza and that they would need to make another. But this is not why I didn’t enjoy my experience. People make mistakes and these guys were busy so it’s understandable. What was disappointing was the pizza itself. It seemed like they had thrown together a pizza really quickly and haphazardly. We were patient with their mistake and instead of making a good quality pizza to make up for the burnt one and the extra wait, they handed us a sloppily done pizza with no price deductions or anything. It was so salty and contained only tiny globs of cheese sparsely distributed throughout the pie. We could have ordered extra cheese for a fee but isn’t there an unwritten pizza rule that the cheese should form a somewhat consistent layer over the sauce? It was a stretch to call this decent pizza, let alone the«best pizza in DC.» Maybe we got very unlucky but I have no desire to give them another chance.

I am here waiting on my pizza(great price btw!) and I just had to comment on how awesome and, for me, nostalgic to my hometown, this place is. All kinds of great Italian food, frozen homemade pastas, and pepper shooters has given me the great idea to supplement my generic pasta dinners with foods that I am much too lazy to make on my own. Very excited to come back.

Good pizza and great sandwiches. They might put a little less stuff on both than some other places out there, but it’s much higher quality. Both pizza and sandwiches are also surprisingly great deals. I’ve never had an excessively long wait during peak times either. If you like bitter beverages, try the bright red 3.4 oz Stappj, it’s like a non-alcoholic Campari.

Not sure how I didn’t know about this place until now. For ~$ 10, you can get a decent pizza large enough to feed 4 adults. This isn’t exactly NY style, nor is it certified direct from some little town in Italy, but that’s ok! It’s leagues above the generics(Papa John’s, Duccini’s, etc) and dirt freakin cheap. I highly recommend for those times you just want some good pizza to go.

Some of the best local pizza in DC. Undisputable. Service is hit or miss though, no delivery and short hours. Last time I ordered, they gave away my pizza to someone else and refused to make a new one since it was 15 minutes prior to closing and the ovens were off. This struck me as a little absurd. If you get there less than 30 minutes before closing they just won’t make more pizza. Deli, pasta and other imported foods are great. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. Really wish they would deliver though and stay open later. Closes at like 5−6pm normally. Also no place to sit inside.

Walked by this place the other day and couldn’t resist stopping in for a hot sandwich to take home. The sandwich took 10 minutes to prepare and toast – FYI for those in a rush(I wasn’t). It was decently sized and lasted me a meal + a small snack. The tomato sauce they use is house made and includes a mix of peppers and spices that give it a little kick. The sandwich also included a ton of cheese and a good amount of meat. The bread was fresh and well toasted too. Not bad for $ 6.50, definitely better than Subway! The rest of the shop is filled with Italian ingredients and imports. There are two freezers stocked with fresh pastas and frozen, prepared dishes(lasagnas, eggplant parmesan, tiramisu etc.). I definitely want to come back to sample some of these! Other shelves had olive oil, nutella and Italian cookies, among other things. Prices were fair, not cheap but not really more than I’d expect to pay at a local, mom-and-pop grocer. The to-go menu also lists pizza and cold sandwiches(I’ve heard the pizza here is also really good). Maybe I missed it, but I wish they had a larger section of cold-cuts and salami to go!

Yey! The last time I had«home mades» I had to sit through my ex boyfriend’s very loud families opinions about well everything. My boyfriends mom would ask what’s the matter when I didn’t eat her escarole soup(even though I’m a vegetarian) cause«it’s just turkey». No loud arguments about the pope or anyone’s dying desire to have more grandkids awkwardly directed at me. Vace is a stone’s throw away, the home made pasta is so delicious, you feel like you made something of restaurant quality at home.(Every commercial that says this is about a product a fucking lie FYI). I just love having such quality italian food so close at such a reasonable price, and no overly emotional convos about when I’m gonna settle down already while I enjoy it.

I came for a good Italian cold cut. Their cold cut was okay. I was surprised because the meat was already sliced and in the bread. When I ordered the guy just added condiments– not what I expected from an Italian deli. While I waiting for my condiments to be added I noticed the swarms of people of people crowding the fridge. What was in there? Homemade pasta! Spinach pasta, flour pasta, wheat pasta you name it. I grabbed a bag for later. Now the pasta was great and will definitely warrant a return trip. The sandwich, not so much.

The best and most affordable pizza in town hands down. I’ve been going to Vace for nearly a decade and they’ve barely raised their prices in 10 years! Best bang for your buck with quality you can count on! Just be aware that Vace is carryout only and the line can get long around rush hour when people are heading home from work. If ordering pizza definitely call ahead so you don’t have to hover around the line when it’s busy. They have a plethora of pizza toppings and even sell by the slice if you don’t want a whole pizza(great idea if you’re visiting and on the go to nearby attractions like the zoo). They also have a nice selection of beer, wine, and other drinks. Their pizza is very tasty but also unique as others have said. If you’re a first timer and not a huge tomato sauce fan I’d recommend getting a few toppings on your pizza. Another tip: some bags of their pasta have cooking times listed while others don’t. Their pasta is very fresh so the cooking times are MUCH quicker than store bought boxed pasta. Especially the ravioli. So after dropping the pasta in the boiling water make sure to keep a very close eye on the pasta! The only thing missing is delivery. Parking is difficult in the area sometimes so it’s understandable and hasn’t stopped me from coming back!

Not a bad place but people who work there seem to think you owe them something. Service with no smile for sure
