Their food so good. Great service too. We will keep coming back. The fajita meat is of really good quality without the price of a fancy restaurant.

Hola! Me llamo Miguel. And that, folks, is about the extent of my Spanish. Okay, I know a little bit more. Mainly restaurant Spanish. But eating here tests the limits of what I remember from high school and some brief brushing up on vocabulary before a recent cruise to Mexico. And this did pose a problem. There’s Mexican and Salvadoran restaurants on 14th Street and then there’s Juanita’s. Where the actual people from these countries(or their immediate descendants) hang out and watch soccer on giant televisions while chowing down on enormously portioned Tex-Mex. I tend to avoid these«normal» plates(like the fajitas) here though and focus on their Salvadoran specialties. Their traditional Salvadoran breakfast is the best I’ve had anywhere in the city and beats anything in Mount Pleasant hands down. The Central American huevos rancheros are also delicious and runny. Though if I had my way, I wish they supplied more tortillas. But that’s more of a Mexican thing to really sop the over easy eggs off the plate so it’s understandable. Really not understandable, however, is the wait time for food here. At one point in our meal the last time my lady and I ate here, there were four servers on duty and they all were hanging out in the back at once for about 20 minutes while talking to other customers and ignoring us. I get that it might have been a little hard to communicate with us(though we were able to place our order fine) but I was definitely not plussed by this. Overall, however, I love the food here so I will probably return often.

You must try the pupusas! They are wonderful! I ordered the Plato Tipico which includes one pupusa, one chicken tamal, and a burrito(I think). All three were delicious. The servers were very attentive and nice. They have flat screen TVs. It was quiet when we first got there(around 5:30), but they turned on music around 6:00. I will definitely be back.

Inspired to make my first Unilocal post because of this place. Great veggie fajitas with lots of good variety: not just the pile of onions and a few carrots/peppers some places use. The staff was attentive to our big group: lots of water refills and continuous chips and salsa was much appreciated! Lovely staff and great food make for a great place.

This was the first of many burritos I plan to try in DC. The restaurant was quiet in the early evening hours, so I was in and out with my takeout quickly. While I waited for my order, the waitress brought brought me chips/salsa and a glass of water, which I thought was a nice touch. My veggie burrito was just the right amount of savory and spicy, and I’d go back to try other dishes on the menu.

Went here for the first time tonight and had a great experience… seriously delicious«Salva TexMex» food, nice ambiance and really great service. Tasty fresh salsa and chips were brought to the table immediately as we sat down and were replaced by a fresh bowl before we were even finished the first. Also had the fresh guacamole which was really chunky and yummy. For my main I had the veggie burrito which was covered in a nice amount of cheese and full of well seasoned beans and veggies. It was unusual and I really enjoyed it — great portion size too. Lime margaritas were tasty! All this was made all the more enjoyable by the fantastic service we received — our waitress could not have been nicer or more helpful and the owner came over at the end of our meal to say hello and see if all was well. I will definitely be back and am excited to have this great spot so close to home!
