Lots of street parking in the area. No reservations, but pretty empty early evening. After getting extended into January, some of the things I had been looking forward to trying got cut from the menu(dinuguan, meat kare kare, chicken mami soup, tokway baboy, crispy pata, walkman, adidas, balot). We made do with what was left on the list, and still left pretty happy. I recommend ordering family style to share, as not everything comes with rice, at the ratio of one meat dish per person and one veggie dish per two people as a side. Order at the counter with a card to hold the tab, water carafes at each table, pay at the counter after. Pricing seems uniform, but you see the adjustments in portions by cost. One of our pork belly plates emerged without chef sauce, and the food hit the table without too long of a wait for us to distribute. Squid was excellent– fairly sized, flavorful and super tender, ideal for splitting as an app between several people. Kang kong was good, light on shrimp paste and still a bit al dente in the stems. Pork belly is indiscriminately fatty with a caramelized exterior on moderately rendered strips before slicing into cross-sections. The group favorite was also the best value, the sizzling sisig: finely diced pork and liver crisped where exposed, with shredded chicharon half-steamed by the rest of the components and three different condiments for the extra boost in flavor.

My sister sent me a last-minute text to try«this pop-up Filipino restaurant» by my apartment, so I was an obedient sibling and listened. I went maybe 30 minutes after they opened, but unfortunately, all reservations were already booked for that Saturday evening. Especially since the space is small, I’d suggest that you don’t follow my footsteps, and instead, make a reservation ahead of time. I walked home all sad, but my mood quickly changed when they called me an hour later. After hastily walking back, they told me they ran out of a couple items on their already-limited menu. But since they were a pop-up, I understood. My friend and I ordered the kabob, lechon, and a mushroom dish. The kabob was a small dish(with only 2 sticks of meat), but it was flavorful and tender; plus, its side vinegar sauce had a nice acidity to it. The mushroom dish was surprisingly tasty and was a light complement to the lechon. The lechon was what I imagined it to be — crispy on the outside and a juicy on the inside, and to put the cherry on the top, it was a large portion! I will say that I think the menu may have slightly changed since I’ve been here, but I’d highly suggest coming here! The dishes provide a satisfying punch of flavor for a decent price.

Kalye is my favorite Filipino Restaurant in the DMV area. Me and my friends have been to the restaurant couple of time and i must say they never disappoint. The food is consistently good and the chef always add something new to the menu. If you want to try authentic filipino food, i’d say give Kalye a try. I suggest trying Beef Pares, Pork belly and their Sisig. Actually everything they serve is really good lol :)

My group ordered the fried tofu with enoki mushrooms, and the grilled squid. Both were absolutely delicious! The tofu was so good we had to make a second order. Staff was friendly and really seemed to care that we had a good experience. Color me impressed.

Our dinner at KalyeDC(located within Eatsplace) was really enjoyable. The lemongrass flavored chicken wings, braised beef and broth«pare», squid, and crispy pork«pata» were all delicious. Some of the dishes come with bigger portions for the price than others, but overall this was a very unique and cool dining experience. The biggest surprise of the meal for me was that the Philippines has an 8% ABV beer that tastes great — Red Horse($ 6 for a bottle). Pretty cool!
