Their swirls are the best EVER! Love their mussels that come in a garlic type of sauce w/bread for dipping. They also have the best lomo saltado. The lomo saltado comes with a green sauce(some kind of cilantro tasting sauce) rice, beans, thin fries, & fried plantains. Amazing food! Amazing drinks! Parking sucks but I’ll take that for delicious food & drinks any day. I’ll def be back, again and again. :D

The management was extremely disorganized, incompetent, disrespectful and frankly just rude. Despite making a reservation ages ago, and arriving on time on the date of our reservation, we still had to wait well over an hour for a table because they failed to «clear the previous party» on time, and management«accidentally» ended up giving away our reserved table. The food was also not worth the hustle at all. Although they do have a lovely wait staff once seated.

We come to Luriol Plaza for large parties for brunch. Early brunch is a total win. that said, we make reservations well in advance, like months ahead. They repeatedly check in with you to make sure you’re coming, and you can show up with your party of 20 for unprecedented food and service. I ordered from the breakfast menu, and got lamb fajitas. They are awesome. They were fresh. They were delicious. I want them again right now as I write this. With a mixture of spices and fresh veggies, it was just awesome. The tortillas were also really great. My favorite was honestly the drinks and chips. The service was impeccable, with pitchers going around the table and everyone remaining with a healthy, but not unpredictable, buzz. The chips came with fresh salsa and we also added guac and queso dip. The queso is a MUSTHAVE. MUST. It was incredible. Also, I must commend the restaurant for having awesome chips that were hot, crisp and fresh. I’ve been here on other occasions for meals and they are always really great, with fresh ingredients. The restaurant itself is cavernous, with three floors of seating and stunning windows. You really can’t go wrong here. Parking: I have no idea. This is a tough area for parking and we like to take a cab or über to this place.

Venue is huge and great for company dinners, family get togethers, etc. Seating is not limited due to the high amount of tables the restaurant seats. Thus, beware of waiters bumping into your table once, or twice… or thrice. Sangria pitcher($ 23) is worth the price and can drink 3 – 4 people. Not for the faint of heart! If you’re indecisive on food, choose one of their combination platters, located at the very bottom of the menu. Serves a variety of tacos, sides, enchiladas, burritos, etc.

Saltado love, plain and simple. Lauriol Plaza is a massive restaurant, serving up their food and drinks on three levels. There may be a wait, but you are going to be well-fed, and they can accommodate big groups. Though I do like to try different things from the menu, my favorite thing to order is the lomo saltado. Beef, french fries, grilled veggies, and this savory sauce. The plate comes out piping hot with a couple of fried plantains, rice and beans. The cilantro aji sauce has a teeny kick that ramps up the flavor. Variations of this dish are done with chicken or seafood(shrimp and scallops). Beyond entrees, you can get cost-friendly pitchers of sangria, margarita, daiquiri, or the swirl. Happy hour is extremely reasonable, and you’ll see most folks order a drink downstairs as they wait for their table. Hostesses and servers are friendly, and portions are generous. I wouldn’t classify the food here as the cuisine of one region; rather, they serve food from several — Peruvian, Mexican, Spanish, even Tex-Mex. See pics!

Margaritas and carne asada aré insane over !! Delicious!!! They are always busy and it’s difficult to get a table on the weekend so I recommend you to make a reservation.!! :-) A good place to celebrate a friend birthday or friends night out.!!

Margarita pitchers for the win! Margaritas are always a good idea, right? Met up for ladies’ night with a few DC friends while in the city & Wednesday night at Lauriol’s was a great choice. No line & not a long wait! Strawberry & lime margaritas for the win! Coming from SoCAl, I’ve come across some pretty good margaritas, but let me tell you, this place comes close! Slushy margaritas… yummy! The restaurant is fairly large & looks like it’d be great to have an «event» party. You know, graduation party, bridal party, birthday party, etc. Anyway, I got the chicken taco and it was good, but not as great as the margarita. The staff is friendly and assume everyone speaks Spanish. Hey, they are authentic! I loved it! We all shared the tres leche for dessert and it was amazing! So moist & fluffy! Definitely, a great place to drink margaritas, be classy & hang out for ladies’ night!

Hands down, THE worst dining experience in DC. Lauriol Plaza is a threat to international relations with Mexico. If other Mexican people found out about this place they would for sure cancel all exports of delicious avocados to the U.S. just out of spite. Our late lunch began with promise as the complimentary chips and salsa were of good quality. My husband ordered the al carbon tacos and I ordered the Laredo combination place. The tacos were served on a stale flour tortilla. Tacos are not served on a flour tortilla. Burritos are served on flour tortilla. I cringe at the thought that people around DuPont walk around not knowing this! Educate yourself please! Anyway, the meat inside the«tacos» was the best thing about this outing, however the stale tortilla sucked. The tacos came with completely inedible, over salted charro beans and bland rice. One too much salt, one not enough. The description of the combination plate was a chicken enchilada, a beef enchilada and a chicken taco. Oh man. The beef enchilada had some weird sauce and some zucchini inside of it. It was okay but very strange and not a Mexican or TexMex taste profile at all. The real and unforgivable problem were the chicken enchilada and chicken taco. Both things seemed like they grabbed some rotisserie chicken meat, a can of Hunt Diced tomatoes and mixed them together for 5 minutes on a pan. Three days later writing this, I am still angry they served me this mess as enchilada filling. I took one bite and it was inedible. I ate half of the beef enchilada and exactly one bite of the chicken enchilada and when it was time to close out the waitress asked if I wanted a box and I said no thank you. I kid you not, the waitress smiled slightly and took the plate. No question whether everything was okay, was I unhappy with my meal? After all, I returned a completely uneaten plate of food. Zero cares, she knows the food is bad and she doesn’t care. I’m not one of those«let me speak to the manager» people so I didn’t want to cause a scene and cut my loses but honestly I wish I could call my credit card company and dispute the charges based on the fact that this place sells fraudulent food.

Finally had a good experience! I’ve been here several times and never really enjoyed it too much so I was kinda bummed when it was chosen as the spot to go for our office lunch. Mexican food and I often don’t get along to well — usually ends with me over eating and feeling like death for a few hours. The salads are typcally super mediocre so I always mistakenly order something else. However, my coworker said that the salads at Lauriol are pretty goo — so I gave the salmon salad a try. It was great! The salmon was nice and soft, and seemed pretty fresh. The lettuce was dressed perfectly. I would definitely recommend get it! Also the chips and salsa is AMAZING. I could not stop eating them. The portions are large so most of us ended up taking leftovers home. Good job Lauriol!

Lauriol Plaza is accepting to all customers without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics even if said individual is dressed as a horse and pretty shitfaced trying to order all of the margaritas and fajitas two days in a row. I mean, you really gotta respect a place that doesn’t judge you for being dressed a horse and spending your entire weekend there right? I mean their waiters and waitresses didn’t raise an eyebrow at my ridiculousness(see picture from halloween, you will know which one). You come here for 2 reasons and two reasons only… fajitas and swirlaritas. For fajitas — shrimp, steak, chicken or combo and get ready for that sizzle for shizzle my nizzle. For the swirlaritas, I tried to get some advice from my waitress. Here was how the convo went down: My Question: «Excuse me ma’am. What flavor margarita do you recommend together for the swirl?» Her Answer: «Lime, Peach, Strawberry, Sangria, Mango» Me while looking at the menu«Did you just list all of them?» Her«Yes, thats all of them» Me «Screw it give me peach and mango» Basically just order whatever sounds good to you or doesn’t sound good to you and it will be good and you will probably order like 7. Enjoy!

It was an OK experience. I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm. The place was super busy. They had seating waiting for us outside with the reservation. I had the fish tacos. Both my other dining companions had fajitas, chicken and beef. The fish tacos were decent. Nothing too impressive. The service was limited in my opinion. I asked twice for a small plate for the salsa and chips. I also asked for more salsa which came way later on. I also was bothered by the fact that they had a ton of mosquitoes outside but that is not the restaurants fault. But i am sure it was interfering with my experience because i could not stop swatting them away from my legs. The fish tacos comes with guacamole, white rice, black beans and some pico de gallo. You get two fish tacos with the meal. It was $ 11.95. 1. Average food 2. Service needs improvement 3. Nice patio area outside 4. Chips and Salsa were decent It was an OK experience. It was not bad but it was not great. Not sure I will be back.

Lauriol Plaza is a Mexican restaurant with a long patio on 18th street on the north side of Dupont. The fenced patio really drew me to the place. It’s big — there are more than a dozen four-person outside tables. My friend told me about their $ 3.99 margarita Happy Hour deal from 4−7pm, so I came to check it out. Walk inside and the restaurant is enormous: three floors of tables, two bars, and white-clothed tables filling them all up. The space is pretty, but it feels like Lauriol Plaza is trying to be fancier than it actually is. Note that the margaritas are NOT made to order. They have slushy machines that they use to pour your drink. The drink was really sweet and tangy, more like soda rather than a nice cocktail.

Nothing says buzzed like a pitcher of margaritas. Except maybe a pitcher of the lovely sangria-margarita swirl known as Sangrita! The food is good too. Nachos are awesome here. Thick round chips loaded with toppings! Don’t get me wrong, the free bottomless chips with salsa will always have a place in my heart, but I do love those nachos and will order them again soon. The usual dishes are all great, service is good for such a busy place, and the long wait for a table is always less painful with a glass or pitcher in hand.

They served a bourbon on the rocks with 2 straws. That was a tell tale sign that the service had no idea what they were doing. Decided to check this place out for my birthday this year and was utterly disappointed. Made a reservation for 8 people on a Monday at 7pm. Show up on time but was informed the table wont be ready till 7:30pm(no apologies just a simple shrug from the hostess). After finally getting our table we were blessed with an incredibly rude waitress. There were 3 fajita orders at the table, but when they finally came we were not given any tortillas! We waited for little over 15 mins till we finally got them. When I cut into my carne asada fajitas the meat was completely overcooked; I have finally experienced what chewing a tire feels like. For the first time in my life I actually sent food back to the kitchen and they took it off the bill. Everyone else at the table did like what they ordered, so maybe I just got unlucky. Here’s a rundown of everything we ordered: Sangria — 5⁄5 Salsa — 5⁄5 Queso — 5⁄5 Mussels — 4⁄5 Beef fajitas — 4⁄5 Shrimp fajitas — 3⁄5 Carne Asada fajitas — 1⁄5 Veggie Quesedilla — 2⁄5 Lomo Saltado — 5⁄5 So the food is decent but service was terrible. I think I will only come back here for Happy Hour drinks and appetizers from now on.

The ambience is amazing as it has 3 layers(outdoor patio, an first level floor, and a second level), the bar is pretty small but the bartenders are on point. Sangria is a must. I got the shrimp fajitas and it was absolutely delicious, however the service was subpar. We had a reservation but still had to wait 30 minutes to get our table. The waiting staff took a while to refill waters and hand out chips/salsa. Overall, It was a great experience with a good vibe and I would reccomend this spot

Always good! I like all of the fajitas and they tend to have good specials that have some sort of fajita vibe to them. The food always tastes fresh. Definitely order the queso dip to have with your chips. It will change your life! Make sure you order a swirl margarita. There are a few options of swirls… get one for sure. There is always a wait. If you are ok eating after 8:30pm, I would say you’re less likely to wait. If you want to eat around 6 – 8, you should prepare yourself to wait. Don’t be fooled by the three floors of seating… a lot of people want to eat there and the wait can be long. They will give you chips and drinks when you wait.

+ Nice spacious space + Friendly staff + Endless chips + Yummy food(most entrees $ 10 – 15) Whether I am coming here with my coworkers or not, I would definitely be back again. I’d comment on the drinks but I don’t think that’s professionally responsible of me to drink during my lunch break ;).

All night long I LOVED and LOATHED this place. I’ve never had so many simultaneous and conflicting feelings about a dining experience. So for every negative thought I will counter with something positive. Parking is atrocious and you will wait for a seat. The President of Mexico isn’t getting a table here on a Friday or Saturday night without a beeper and a drink or three at the bar. The desk/host staff, though it may seem a chaotic mess, is actually quite organized and efficient. They will find you a table as quickly as possible… which is to say not quickly at all– but not for lack of organization or effort. Does that make sense? The clientele includes some of DC’s finest specimens: pink-shorts-sporting a-hole preppies who act like King Sh*t shoulder to shoulder with folks who made a wrong turn and think they’re attending a Katt Williams performance at the Apollo Theater where nachos are being served. The mom next to me with permanent bitch sneer was wearing Chanel sunglasses indoors(at night) while the woman behind me was crawling on top of her table screaming the f-word and calling her friends the n-word every five seconds. This restaurant is where the inevitable class war will occur, mark my words. The starters blew my mind to the point I didn’t care if a knife fight or Republican National Convention spontaneously broke out. Fried sweet plantains, fresh made chunky guacamole with smoked chili salsa and a Corona with lime is the answer. This is how we mend race relations, you guys. The chicken enchilada looks awesome but has all the flavor of a dish sponge. The beef enchilada made me climb up on the table myself and shout the f-word it was so good. They allow a guy selling cheap fiber optic flowers to roam the restaurant soliciting guests trying to eat. It reminded me of the real Mexico. They also behead folks and other unpleasant business in the real Mexico. I can do without certain elements of authenticity. The bill for a veritable feast with drinks for two was still under 65 bucks. I think that is something we can all feel good about. Me, you, all of these assorted idiots. AmIright?! AmIright??? I’m right.

Lauriol Plaza is a great place for friends to enjoy happy hour, groups and your standard mexican fare. This past week was my first time and it certainly won’t be my last. Highlights: — This place serves over 300 people! Crazy. They have an outdoor patio, main dining room, upstairs and a rooftop area. We had a group reservation for 15 and I would say that it probably happens all the time here. — Standard mexican food. Nothing that is going to blow you mind, but it will likely be consistent. They had like 50 servers running around and definitely multiple kitchens. — Chips and Salsa when you sit down. Salsa is smoky which is good. — Get the fajitas $ 15(chicken, beef or combo), lomo saltado $ 15 or any of the specials. Fajitas are popular here because they come on a piping hot sizzling plate. — Margaritas are pretty damn good. $ 35 for a pitcher. We got 2 for our table of 15. — Beans and Rice are brought for the table. — They take reservations! — I have heard about a complimentary parking lot closeby but I would just park on the street in the 2 hour parking spaces. Definitely a great place to take some friends. I highly recommend it!

Had a amazing time at this place, as always experience is primarily based on the company you are in but they made that experience worth remembering! Came here for lunch on saturday for some friend’s birthdays, group of 40 people. This was our first stop of many for the day and it was a good start! The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the establishment was beautiful! The restaurant is huge from the inside and had a large outside seating as well. The location was packed with people as we arrived at 1pm for lunch. We started with several pitchers of Margaritas, considering our large group, the servers did a great job with attention to detail. As a group the prices seemed insignificant but individually i would consider this place a bit pricey, but then again it’s DC, as most restaurants are pricey. I got the Sante Fe Combination Platter, which was absolutely delicious! It included One Cheese Enchilada, One cheese chile relleno, one guacamole taco with white rice and black beans. I was suprised to see white rice as that’s not normal at mexican restaurants. As one table cannot hold 40 people, we were split into 4 tables, considering the amount of food and drinks, our table’s total came out to be $ 300, not a bad deal split 10 ways. I would love to come back here again to try their other dishes as my experience was a very positive one.
