Get their fried spinach appetizer. So great. I just sat at the bar and ate dinner one night while I was in for a conference. Totally happy.

I don’t have Indian food very often but I came here during lunch for a coworker’s birthday. The lunch special is a great deal — $ 12 for u limited lunch buffet. I decided to try everything that was served so I could get a good idea of what I might want to have next time. Loved almost everything!

I love Indian. This place is great. A little pricey. But if you get a vegetarian dish its automatically $ 6 cheaper!

Excellent! One of the best buffets I’ve had in the DC area. And great ambience! Love the butter chicken, spicy chicken, and rice pudding!

Overall good dinner but there were more wine options than food. Mulligatawny soup was creamy. First time I must have had rice in it. May be it is French. Chowpatty bhel, masala croquet were nice. Paneer triple decker was just shallow fried with tomato and chutney on it. Not sure how it was supposed to taste. Paneer main dish was nice and tangy. Gobi mattar can have some more spice to it. Daal side was good. All veggie dinner for a change.

Went there a couple of weeks back and I have to say it was pretty good. Chowpatty, it’s Bhel Puri and I don’t know why they don’t call it that, was good but a touch soggy. If you mix the sauce at the last second then the rice puffs stay crispy. Still, it was nice to have an Indian street food favorite be available in DC. Chicken momos were ok. I liked the accompanying sauce, though not what it’s traditionally served with in Delhi and Nepal. Chicken Maharaja was very very good. I can’t wait to try it again. Their Gulab Jamun was good but their Ras Malai was very very good. It’s not an easy thing too get the texture of Ras Malai right and in my 15 years in the US, this is probably the first time some restaurant has come close. The ambiance is nice, what you would expect in DuPont. The décor is modern. The space is small and cozy. I will definitely repeat and I look forward to trying other dishes, along with Chicken Maharaja.

So this little place was absolutely impressive. At first glance I thought it was just another small restaurant– however there is a main level and an upstairs– and has a large enough layout that you don’t feel too crowded among the other diners. Also, we came around 6PM and they had a large projection wall showing a Food Network cooking show… Strange… But it was turned off around 7 so maybe that was a happy hour thing? For food– we split the chicken maharaja and the lamb biryani. The chicken dish was one listed as a «strong recommendation» from the waiter and it did not disappoint. The sauce is tomato based but the herbs and spices used make it taste like heaven. The lamb biryani comes mixed together in an astounding rice tower– and has just enough heat to make you glad for the side of yogurt sauce. Also– get the garlic naan! Seriously– get it! We had enough leftovers for lunch the next day between the two of us, and it’s completely reasonable to split one dish between 2 people in the future. Also– the wine selection is good! Definitely will be coming back!

Le Mirch is a hidden gem in Dupont Circle. The restaurant was quiet, with a decent sized bar in the front and several seats in the back. The food was very good for the price and they had several signature dishes(vindaloo, curry, naan) each costing about $ 20. We particularly enjoyed the vindaloo and the curry. The service was good as the staff was attentive and provided an overview of each dish along with recommendations. They also had a great drink selection. Overall, if you are looking for good Indian food without the Rasika prices, check out Le Mirch.

Went here because the restaurant next door looked overly loud and crowded. The vibe here was immediately different and much preferred. Definitely more relaxed/chill, which was what we were looking for. Skewed romantic rather than popping. Without naming names, there is an established gold standard for Indian food in DC. In all honesty, though, this place is not far off. It’s tap-dance is almost fast enough to fool you(compliment). There were a lot of traditional Indian dishes to choose from and everything that came to our table was perfectly flavored/season and came in ample portions. I ordered my favorite – Chicken Biryani. It was played in a way I haven’t seen before and was pretty much perfect. Definitely on par with the best Biryani I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is almost perfect. One random note is that the projector doesn’t really make sense. Can’t even remember what was playing on it, but it definitely felt out of place. If sports is on, it might make more sense, but that would change the atmosphere and probably make it less«date-friendly.» Would probably go 4.5 stars here if that was an option. This place is outstanding and I would highly recommend.

Nice cozy restaurant with good Bar selection and a great fusion of sub continental delicacies… Very friendly and attentive staff, nice and clean space and a really intriguing menu, talk about Peshawari Lamb Kababs and Jackfruit! They can definitely improve on bread selection but hey! Whatever they are cooking in that kitchen is no less awesome… We had the chance to speak to one of the partners and it seemed clear that they are very passionate about what they do, from chef to management they are a serious team with a potential to competition with biggies in their sector of food domain… Keep surprising us guys! Had a very pleasant experience Enjoy!

Delicious indian dishes all with a beautiful dinning experience. The service was excellent — they were very kind and food was prepared perfectly. I like my Indian dishes spicy and most indian restaurants I’ve been to usually asks how spicy I want my meal, however, they didn’t at Le Mirch. That being said, it still had good flavor and kick. We ordered the Chicken Curry and Chicken Maharaja(with a side of Naan of course) and we enjoyed both dished a lot! We did run out of rice before the dishes — if we would have had maybe a cup and half more it would have been perfect(and I really didn’t use that much rice). I always find Indian to been relatively higher in cost — however, I love it so It keeps me going back!

Good service, decent food and ambiance. Prices were also very reasonable. The owner was kind enough to let us in even after their closing as our lyft ride was late. Service was prompt and friendly. Ambiance was nice and restrooms were clean. We tried the chana lahori(kinda like chana masala), paneer kurchana(this was like Paneer Jalfrezi) with some bread(onion kulcha & roti). Chana was decent — didn’t need extra spice or salt. Paneer was soft enough(didn’t seem frozen) and spiced well. The onion kulcha was soft and the tandoor roti seemed really whole wheat. It was a little dry but tasted very rustic and made from real 100% whole wheat flour.

I’m in love. My partner and I came here after we bough a gilt city deal for dinner in a Saturday night. We had the mirch shank and the shrimp mad-rush! We loved both especially the shrimp. Since I lived to DC, I haven’t had really found a good Indian restaurant besides Indique and Raasika, and this place was a pleasant surprise. The flavors are both complex and traditional and the portions are wonderful, hands down I would come here because of these two reasons, I will definitely be coming back.

While Rasika is my favorite Indian restaurant in DC by far, Le Mirch is also a very good option for cheaper but still very good Indian food. There are a lot of mediocre Indian joints in the city, but this is a tasty take on Indian. I’v been to Le Mirch a few times, and I’m always pleased with the service and the tastiness of the dishes. When I was there most recently, my partner and I tried the flash fried spinach — very well done! And I tried restaurant specialty, the Mirch Shank. They said they cook a lamb shank for eight hours beforehand so that it falls off the bone, and I have to say that I agree with them, because you didn’t even need a fork to eat the meat. It was a very good portion and something that I don’t have very often. My partner had the cauliflower entrée, and he could go back just for that dish. Highly recommend the cauliflower. For an Indian restaurant, they have a pretty big wine list. Lots of reds, and more than a few whites. We opted for some sparkling wine from Italy, and it was delicious. For good Indian that won’t cost an arm and a leg, Le Mirch is a very good choice.

Excellent Indian in an area of Dupont not known for great dining. Have eaten here a few times and always have had a great meal. While everyone loves Rasika(and they should), Le Mirch also delivers high end Indian. They keep some Indian classics, but done very well. I’m a huge fan of the Chicken Maharaja; tender chunks of chicken in a creamy, succulent sauce bursting with flavor. They will allow you to up the spice factor which I definitely recommend. From the tandoor grill I was impressed with the peshawari lamb. Large pieces of seasoned with garlic and ginger lamb grilled on a kebab with onions and peppers. Served with masala and yogurt sauce it may be my favorite item on the menu. Very tender and great smoky taste from the grill. Of course you’ll need some warm garlic naan to eat with(and soak up all the sauce from the Chicken Maharaja). The staff is very friendly, and if you’re unsure about what to order they will definitely guide you and give recommendations. FYI — on Monday’s it’s half priced bottles of wine.

Best Indian Lunch Buffet in DC. Hands down. $ 12? That’s awesome! Perfect Naan. Great selection of veg and meat dishes. Only thing was I wish they had more than just chicken(although there were 3 kinds). Some lamb or even egg curry would have been better.

This is a great little find in Dupont. The quality of the cooking was very good for the prices. The Masala crab appetizer was very good — totally unexpected! The Lamb Shank was very tender and tasty. 5STARS for service here. Lots of attention from the staff. I crave Indian every so often, so I will definitely go back to try more of the menu. This place is clean, spacious and peaceful for a Dupont casual dining spot.

Let me start by saying that I am not really convinced this place is a fusion — they lean heavily towards the Indian side. That being said, the food was definitely yummy. I went here for my birthday dinner and loved all their food. We started off with the potato croquettes, which were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside — very tasty. Next came the Triple Decker — pieces of succulent paneer(cottage cheese) and bell peppers in a beet sauce. The cheese was super fresh and the sauce had a yum tang to it. The masala crab was my personal favorite I think. It was spicy and tasty while being super fresh at the same time. One of my friends also had the Peshawari kabob — I do not eat red meat, but i hear the dish was great. The Biryani was very tasty and the matar gobhi was average. The paneer makhani(as has always been my lament at most places) was a bit too sweet for me. I also loved their onion kulcha and the raita. Drinks were anywhere between average and awesome, and service was definitely warm. Some of my friends definitely felt that the ambiance was not cozy enough, but I thought it was okay. All in all, the food was good and while I am not likely to come here with friends or for a happy hour, I would love to bring my parents here for a fany family night, maybe!

Rogan Josh Lamb Stew $ 16(4⁄5 NOMs) Three world of flavor come together in one dinner lamb stew dish from this unique Indian, Nepalese and French fusion restaurant. Get ready to try Indian cousin with a new twist to it. This is one strong dish name, so much that I could totally name my child Rogan Josh. With a strong name also come strong flavors of perfect season lamb cubes with onion, tomatoes, ginger and garlic. You get a choice of hotness level. Even mild version had a bit of a kick to, but shouldn’t make your mouth burn too much. At first glance didn’t seem like a lot of food in this lamb stew, but toward the end we had trouble finishing the whole bowl. Chicken Momo Dumplings $ 7(3⁄5 NOMs) Its all about that sauce on your fusion adventure with Nepalese dumplings appetizers. Excited to try our very first traditional Nepalese fast food momo(dumplings). These boiled dumplings were very light on the outside and filled with soft chicken on the inside. With first bite it taste just like your normal chicken dumplings you can find around town. What makes it special is the dipping sauce that comes with this dish. It brings a whole new level of flavors and spices. It has a nice kick to it that adds some excitement. Overall it was a good dish, but still kind of wish there was more twist to it since this is a fusion place.
