I thought this place was good, but not great. I got tacos to go; beef strip, pig head and pulled pork. I thought the meat was dry, except for the pig head(YOLO) which was very fatty, I found myself pulling out large chunks of straight fat and a little piece of bone too. I wish the tacos had two tortillas each, one never seems to do the job. The salsas and guacamole were very good, and the side of radish was novel.

DON’T BEFOOLEDBYFREEGUAC. Ok so I rushed to this place after reading all the great Unilocal reviews and was utterly disappointed. Place is new, clean and small. Service is friendly. No Alcohol. We ordered Tacos al pastor, a squash blossom quesadilla, taco with peppers and potatoes, and the chile relleno taco. Squash blossoms were old or frozen, definitely not fresh, and had a weird taste. The cheese was not melted. Tortillas were fresh and home-made. Al pastor tacos had no pineapple, tough meat, and were so unpleasant my date couldn’t finish them. I don’t eat meat, but take her word for it. Rajas y papas taco had unfresh barely cooked potatoes. Chile relleno tacos was previously made and heated up. Cheese was not even melted. They give you nice free guac and homemade salsa, which is great, but the food isn’t fresh or particularly tasty. Yes, it’s reasonably cheap, but no reason to go back unless they make some serious changes.

First off, I love some authentic Mexican food and know what I’m getting into. That said, I strongly feel like Unilocal has gone a little overboard on this one. I’ve now tried this place twice and, of three dishes, only one was anywhere close to 5 star quality. First time, I was excited to see a new Mexican place and stopped in to try a quick taco to try it out. The carnitas tacos were way too fatty… as in only 10 percent actual meat. A month or so later I decided to try takeout and ordered two quesadillas(flor and tinga). The amount of food that I got for $ 23 from a hole-in-the-wall taco joint was laughable. I’ve noticed other reviews have commented about the reasonable prices… maybe the quesadillas at $ 10 each are just the wrong way to go. Anyways, the tinga quesadilla was dry and flavorless. The flor quesadilla, on the other hand, was fantastic. But as I’m hitting .333 on this place, I can’t possibly justify more than 3 stars.

Small and no-frills taqueria — so in and out if you are dining there. The tacos are excellent, but they only serve traditional style — no cheese/mayo [or any of the other gringo nonsense! ;)]. Do yourself a favour and get some tacos from here.

Very nice, family-owned restaurant that I am SO incredibly glad opened right by me. It has been the highlight of my winter. Not only is the food delicious, but it is affordable. The staff is also always delightful to deal with. The tacos come in more offbeat meats, which I have yet to try. However, the pastor tacos, the lamb barbacoa and the carnitas are all delicious, moist, and taste home-cooked. They are also never stingy with the limes. The tinga de pollo tostada towers with toppings, and a white sauce that simultaneously flavors and offsets the spiciness of the chicken. You may question the $ 10 price tag on this tostada, given the somewhat closeby competition of Pica Taco’s cheaper one – but do not doubt it. You are getting almost a salad amount of food. As for the tamales, while the green salsa and chicken tamale is okay, the two mole tamales are the real stars of the show. They are warm with deep flavors, and are moist. If you are getting your meal to go, Lezo’s is generous with their sauces, giving you at least two to-go cups of their creamy and spicy guac. A quick note about service: My first order, I returned home with my carry out order only to find that I had not received my tamale. I fortunately live close enough that I didn’t mind walking back to get my tamale. In order to make up for forgetting the tamale, they gave me two, which was much appreciated.

I was so excited to visit after having tasted her food before. It did not disappoint one bit! The tacos were delicious, and the pozole was good. The salsas and tortillas were freshly made. I can’t wait to taste the other items on the menu!

This place is great! Finally an authentic taqueria that I don’t have to fly across the country for! And great friendly service! Feels like home! We ordered the pastor sope, jalapeño tamales, carnitas tacos, chicharron en salsa tacos and walking distance from home! Highly recommend!

authentic taqueria hole in the wall. hearty portions and fresh. simple menu but tons of different meats and made fresh in front of you. the sauce tray packs a punch… basically everything is spicy. this is no frills dining, you go there for the tacos/quesadilla/sopas. unfortunately when I was there, they ran out of dessert which I would have liked to try. also the apple pay terminal was down which was a huge bummer.

Best cow tongue and carne Assad tacos in DC. But the most underrated part of the restaurant is the guacamole and salsa selection – very authentic. Highly recommend Doña Rosa’s place.

This is one of those reviews that I’m elated, yet incredibly bummed, to write. The food is absolutely phenomenal — and therein lies the problem. Lezo’s is going to be jam packed soon enough. I ordered three tacos: cabeza de puerco(pig’s head), carnitas(roasted/fried pork), and chile relleno(cheese stuffed fried poblano). The pig’s head taco was the best taco I’ve ever had in my life: it was a meaty, fatty, gelatinous mess — exactly like a pig’s head. The chile relleno, an entire fried and stuffed poblano pepper inside a soft taco, was not far behind. And, to top ‘em all off, they give you three bowls, FORFREE, filled with guacomole, mole sauce, and salsa verde. This taqueria is the DREAM. Get ‘em while you can!

I honestly can’t complain. My horchata, two pastor tacos and chicken mole tamale was delicious! I also appreciated that they serve you three different salsas and limes on the side. You gotta have the limes. Anywhere I go for the first time I order the pastor, and this one was not greasy and had thick cuts of meat. And the mole chicken tamale was so soft and delicious. Mole is tough to do well, but the cooks know what they’re doing.

Such a joy to have this lovely little taqueria open up in the Columbia Heights/Mt. Pleasant area! I’m from Arizona and often find the Mexican cuisine in the DC area to be lacking. Lezo’s has quickly filled that void for me. This is a family owned and operated business and it is incredibly clear — in everything from the authentic decorations to the kind and attentive nature of the staff — that they have a great love of Mexican cuisine and care a lot about the quality of their food! At the same time, their prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. It is also worth mentioning that this taqueria caters well to vegetarians. There are a wide array of vegetarian options — including tacos, sopas, quesadillas, tostadas, and tamales! I ordered the huitlacoche taco, the mushroom taco, and the cheesy poblano taco. All three were absolutely delicious. They also have a wide variety of salsas and other sauces to top one’s food with. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Awesome authentic Oaxacan taqueria. My husband and I had several of their tacos – all superb. My kids split a quesadilla – the cheese is Oaxacan cheese and delicious. We had them add spinach to the quesadilla but it was canned spinach so won’t be making that mistake again. Beware of their super spicy chile – it teared me up and I love spicy. We have lived in Mexico and visited Oaxaca so we are very pleased to have a local taqueria that is delicious and not exuberantly priced! Felicidades to the owners(and thanks for being friendly!)

Great addition to the neighborhood! The food is great, and key ingredients(oaxacan cheese, huitlacoche, etc.) are flown in regularly from Oaxaca. Authentic, reasonably-priced and delicious. The owners are also very friendly. Highly recommend!

What a great little place to have in the neighborhood. Delicious food(I tried the barbacoa, carnitas, and al pastor and loved all three) and the little salsa bar is great, too! Fresh-made guac and other salsas. And three tacos and a Jarritos for $ 11 is not bad at all! Glad to have them in Mt. P!

Fantastic place! They just opened up this weekend. They serve authentic Oaxacan food. They have tacos, quesadillas, tamales, and sopas. It’s a family owned and operated place so you know they care about their food. The tacos are amazing and they have all sorts of different sauces too. It’s very affordable as well! Perfect for a snack or to bring the family for a treat. You should definitely try it out! It’s a wonderful addition to the Mount Pleasant community.
