We had a reservation for 8:30 and we did not get seated until 9:10 pm. They did not apologize for the wait and didn’t try to accomodate us while standing there. I had the cacio e pepe. It was a little too much pepper to my liking so I would suggest to request for them to grind the pepper in front of you. Granted, the sauce/cheese was done very well with a thick and creamy texture, the portions were very small making it seem overpriced. My friend got the carbonara which was rather bland and a disappointment since it is usually a hit. The octopus appetizer however was delicious, and so was the bread. The tiramisu was excellent. Our waiter was attentive which made the night go smoother than how it started. I may just come back for the appetizers and desserts next time.

I gave a try to this place for a girls night. We didn’t make a reservation so we were seated right up the stairs close to the bar. I’m generally skeptical of Italian restaurants but I have to say that everything from appetizers to dessert were good. We didn’t know which wine to order so we randomly picked one and it was delicious. The cocktails were amazing. Appetizers(4 of them also picked randomly) were exquisite… And, oh! I had heard about the waiters here but didn’t know what to think… Now I know it’s exactly how they say, they do have some of the cutest servers in town. The bill was a little high at the end of the evening but it was totally worth it.

Amazing food, great cocktails, and incredibly friendly service! I have been meaning to check out Lupo Verde for many reasons — I like cheese, bitter cocktails, and good Italian food is hard to come by in DC. They have an entire cheese counter in the restaurant, seem to have a kind of partnership with local distiller Don Ciccio & Figli, and feature their liquors prominently in their cocktails, and their chef is straight from Calabria. I started off with a cheese board consisting of Nocetto di Capra, Accasciato, and Pecorino Pepato. I was actually starting to get full after the cheese board, given the accouterments and focaccia bread. I then proceeded onto the Tonnarelli cacio & pepe, which was Italian comfort food at its finest — reminiscent of my own Nonna’s kitchen. Stuffed, but never one to turn down dessert, I opted for the Coppa del Nonno — which, for someone who loves Nutella as much as I do, was amazing. I also had the DC Negroni — featuring Don Ciccio & Figli’s Cinque Aperitivo, Green Hat Gin, and Capitoline Vermouth. Probably one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while. On top of the food, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Similarly, other staff members I interacted with, from the hostess to other servers, were also very friendly. The only downside I would have to say is that the menu is a bit pricey, but I suppose this is 14th Street. Also, I should note the portion sizes may seem a bit small in comparison to the high price, but I was quite full after dinner. And as I mentioned, our waitress was exceptional, but on a Wednesday night when things started to get busy she was the only one on the second floor, so her hands started to get pretty full pretty quick — I can see how that might annoy some customers. I was a bit hesitant due to the mixed reviews, but I fully enjoyed my dinner at Lupo Verde, and hope to come back again!

Went here a couple times, I really adore the food. The restaurant has a nice vibe and I like that they play fútbol on the telly and the staff makes you feel welcome. Every food item that we ordered here was so delicious. I recommend: Carpaccio di manzo: it’s a raw beef salad, very delicious and pleasing to the eye Polpo: octopus with sausage and sweet potato, all those flavors combine for an unforgettable appetizer Orecchiette: a pasta dish, I forget what was in it because I ate it so fast, I think it had some sausage. It’s on the pricier side for me, but it’s nice to indulge once in a while.

We came here late at night, so I suppose I can understand our server rushing us. But the food was worth it as I loved my dish. They had several pasta options that I had a difficult time choosing between — several that were pretty unique. I settled on the squid ink pasta with shrimp. It was quite delicious! And it was the perfect serving size too. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. And it had just the right amount of flavors and spice going on. Very enjoyable. This is another one of those places that’s both modern and vintage at the same time. Nice ambiance and décor.

My friends and I went here for dinner on a Wednesday. They took us a while to get seated. Our server was excellent and had straight answers when I asked her, «if I had to get one thing at this restaurant what would it be». She gave me the best options and I went with the primi praccherri that came with seafood, thyme and eggs. It was rather delicious. I also ordered the tiramisu(out of this world, also presentation was incredible) and muscato and it was all fabulous. It was a bit on the pricy side(although for 3 people the bill was around a $ 100 which was decent) hence the 4, but I always recommend a place that keeps you wanting more. I’ll probably go back there again for a date. Can’t wait to try their octopus!

I decided to update my review after coming here two more times and actually having an opportunity to try the food. The second time I came here, my girlfriend and I waited about an hour to get seated. We told the hostess first available, but after she tried to seat us at a communal table with wobbly chairs and we saw other parties who came after us getting seated outside, we made a fuss. The hostess was flustered and said she had no idea what was happening on her system. Nice try. Squeaky wheel gets the oil and we were seated outside. After this, the rest of the evening got a lot better. Our server, Tony M was great. My friend and I decided to get a meat and cheese plate($ 28) — I highly recommend it! Then we got the fried artichokes($ 12) and the insalata di pomodori($ 9). We also decided to each have two Totos(vodka, mandarin, cocchi americano, lemon, and basil) for $ 12. Initially, I was put off by the hostess on a power trip but the food and server made up for it. Last night, I came back with three friends. I made a reservation this time! We were seated right away at a cozy(read: small) table upstairs. Very romantic setting with the lighting, flowers, and rustic Italian vibe. The fourth member in our party took 15 minutes to show, but they seated us anyway and took our drink order. The server offered us extra bread but never brought it, which was to the dismay of my boyfriend. We ordered brussel sprouts for the table($ 7), I ordered the branzino($ 27), my two friends ordered the orecchiette($ 18), and my boyfriend ordered the duck($ 26). The food was good, but nothing stood out. With drinks, our bill was $ 220 for four people. My boyfriend was still hungry when we left. Service was a little spotty. When our server did bring our drinks, he would slam them a little too abruptly on the table or the bus boys would clear things in a hurry and one stepped on my shoe. At other times, we would be waiting a little long for our drinks. I would say this place is good for a romantic setting or if you are up for sharing plates. But, like a lot of DC restaurants, its overpriced and nothing is mindblowing. Good quality food but still overpriced. Our server Tony M did stand out so I wanted to give him a shoutout!
