Had a very pleasant experience with my two granddaughters today. Stopped pass after school for a Happy Meal treat about 4:30pm. The food was fresh and hot; also, two(2) chicken nugget four(4) piece meals cost less than $ 7 — what a bargain!(Food prices vary from different locations.) The tables and seating area were relatively clean, and staff reasonably friendly.

These complaints don’t really apply to my visits. I’ve been here several times already, and I gotta say this is the most well-mannered McDonald’s I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot. Food is not as great though.

Took 15 minutes to get a cup of tea. The one cashier at the front did not know how to use the hot water tab directly behind him, as he asked his manager to do it.

The manager Jose went out of his way to act rude to customers today,(first interrupted me as I was ordering to ask the cashier a basic question that was not urgent, then was noticeably short and irritated with everyone else he interacted with, including yelling out something to those waiting, about the ordering line as if we were all incompetent cattle) and it was neither busy, chaotic, nor disorderly haha. The cashier on the other hand was very friendly. Anyhow, .breakfast all day includes egg Mcmuffins & pancakes & a few other items — no biscuits, bagels, or mcgriddles at this one just an FYI.

Through circumstance, I am sometimes forced to eat at McDonald’s, and I don’t hate it. So, this isn’t a whack at McDonald’s in general, but at THIS McDonald’s. It must be THESLOWEST McDonald’s in all of America. I’ve eaten there a grand total of three times, and each time my wait in the drive-thru has been well over 10 minutes. If you’re in a hurry, and need to grab«fast food», just keep driving, this place doesn’t qualify.

This is the worst McDonalds I’ve ever been to. I went through the drive thru and did not get eye contact nor did I even get spoken to… My bag was handed to me and that was it. Even after I said thank you… I did not get a response. Rediculious and Awful!

The customer reps cleared my order from their system because they were running late, and then had no idea what I ordered. So then they asked me whoa I ordered, and made the food while I waited a second time. Nothing at all redeeming about the service – unkind, late, and inattentive. I would gladly drive much farther away if it’s any not having to deal with this terrible customer service.

It was 8:27 in the evening and my son is in the emergency room and I decided to get food for him. When I got to this place, I was happy because this location is not at all busy. I ordered food for my wife, myself and my son. I did not bother to check on my order because the manager and 2 other Latina ladies were talking in their language and they seem to know what they are doing. When I got back to the hospital, I son’s food was not there. I was so disappointed. If only there McDonalds staff checked the food that customers ordered instead of talking and laughing about their experiences, then customers like me would have a better experience. So I called the store and mentioned to the staff about my missing food and told me that they will take care of this matter if ever I would want to come back. My sick son needed the food at that moment and they should have done a better quality service than this. I definitely would not recommend staff chatting and laughing the the job if they will jeopardize the quality and accuracy of service that they render. Ben

Howard students are the lifeblood of this establishment — it’s not going anywhere unless the school goes. From that standpoint, this is truly an unfortunately located venue. The guaranteed business from students, as well as general student apathy concerning service, negatively impacts staffing and property upkeep. STAFFING Never have I been to a McDonald’s with such unhappy staff. There’s this one lady who always looks irritated. She often yells out the order number in an obnoxious fashion before looking to see if the person is standing there. There’s another worker who I think is transgender-ring from female to male. I may be wrong, which would be embarrassing. In any case, he/she has an attitude problem and often laughs at the customers for actually expecting service(I’ve never been laughed at, but I’ve seen it). There are others, but these stick out the most. However, some shifts are better than others. The Sunday morning staff are especially nice. The late evening staff are typically always in a bad mood. The managers are pretty even-keel. PROPERTYUPKEEP The dumpsters outside the McDonald’s are never completely in place; they’re always sitting close — too close! — to the general parking lot. Additionally, the area around the dumpsters has been stained dark from months(years?) of spillage. On some mornings, the parking lot is wet(I assume from water used to clean) and the smell of the spillage is reactivated. The actual establishment, both the outside and furnishings inside, are kept very nice. Aesthetically speaking, it’s a giant among the«retail shop» restaurants across the street. THE«OTHER» REGULARS Also worth mentioning is that this McDonald’s is a popular spot for begging. Usually in the evenings is when you’ll see people standing by the door, almost obstructing you from entering without acknowledging them. They’re very strategic, though. The staff at McDonald’s are actually very keen about dismissing them from the premise. Any beggars stand such that they can’t be seen from the service counter. I often find myself skeptical of them because they smoke while begging.(To their credit, though, they do sometimes buy something inside after receiving money.)

Yuck, yuck Rats and mice play at this outlet outside kitchen in parking space. McDonald’s corporate HQ is looking other way simply because it sells lot of burgers.

This place does so much business, that your fries will always be right out of the fryer… And if they’re not, you can tell them, and your new fries will be out in seconds. They did a major facelift on the interior recently and it’s now a much nicer place to hang out with the locals. There are quite a few regulars who are only here to get out of the rain, stay out of trouble, and play chess. They typically won’t bother you. There are TVs for your entertainment even if you can’t hear the volume. There’s a drive-thru. If your sentiments are such that eating near the«Otherwise Unoccupied» is unsavory, I suggest you find another location. 2 stars off for the«I hate my life» attitude from some of the younger staff, and the fact that although they’ll sell you items off the dollar menu, they won’t post that dollar menu anywhere.

This place only offers a quarter pounder variations at the late night menu. I’m very upset that they had slow service and lack of menu options at 3 am when they are open 24 hours.

Husbear needed something to cool his throat after BHH at Town, so we pulled into the line here. A line at 10:30 on a Friday night? Ruth-roh. The woman in the Lexus SUV seemed to be ordering a party platter as it took ten minutes. A full twenty five minutes in line, it’s our turn Husbear: small vanilla shake McBitch: SPEAKUP I CAN’T HEARYOU Husbear: SMALLVANILLASHAKE MCBitch: TALKINTOTHEMICROPHONE this went on for five minutes. Husbear got a Chocolate shake, not a vanilla one. Working at the Carwash, sing it with me sister.

I have mixed feelings about reviewing this place because I’m not really a fan of McDonald’s at all(this coming from the«Duchess» lol). But since I know how far this particular location has come, I feel obligated to shed light on its turnaround. When I was a freshman at Howard, this place was just plain yucky. I can probably count the number of times on one hand that I ventured through its doors in all of my four undergraduate years. However, that changed slightly when it was gutted and renovated. It is much more aesthetically pleasing these days. I really like that they have flatscreens that typically broadcast local and national news. Although I must say that I still haven’t recovered from seeing a man draining his snake at the urinal, which was in plain sight when the door was propped open. PLAIN sight. I am forever scarred. On one occasion I guess they didn’t have an official ice cream specialist available, so the cashier had to fix my cone. And it was a ferkin’ travesty. It looked like it had caught a terrible case of «lean wit it rock wit it»(pic posted). I won’t completely bash it though because the cashier’s sheer lack of hand-eye coordination did not affect the deliciousness I was anticipating. I really only eat breakfast and dessert, so I can’t comment on the food much more than that. From what I’ve experienced, the fare is pretty standard for this chain. Considering the fact that a McDonald’s cheeseburger has an unknown shelf life… you get what you pay for. This place is almost always open, there is decent parking, and if you’re a fellow Bison it is likely one of your greatest sources of sustenance. At least after a long night of libations and dropping it like it’s hot.

McDonalds on Georgia Avenue is a club. I’m not sure if it’s myth, but I’ve heard that this location, across from Howard University, is the largest grossing McDonalds on the entire East coast. I believe it. That said, they’re always out of something. From 3AM — 6AM — You better have cash, because they don’t accept credit card. What type of McDonalds doesn’t accept credit card at those arbitrary hours?! Well, Howard Mickey D’s. Then, half the time, their soda machine isn’t working so you can only get Dasani water. I don’t know if you’ve ever tasted Dasani, but let me tell you, I’d rather have District tap water. Oh, and did you know, you can’t get small sizes? Like, apparently, overnight there’s a shortage of small-sized value meals. You have to get large here. Mainly, this place is arbitrary and illogical with what they do and don’t have or what they can and can’t offer you. Unfortunately, at 4AM, there really isn’t much alternative ‘cept the Wendy’s on New York Avenue, but since they switched the traffic pattern up over there, I don’t even head that way. This place could be much better if they just dropped all of the arbitrary nonsense and didn’t hire bammas who clearly don’t want to be working here.

You won’t get McNuggets like this anywhere else — except at every other McDonald’s in the world! Seriously though, this Mickey D’s gets a bonus star for offering the drive through. Parking at the other McDonald’s nearby just sucks and usually if you’re going to McDonald’s, it’s an impulse thing and if you have to bother to find parking, you’re just going to say«screw it» and go eat something from the fridge at home. Sigh. But when people ask me about the Georgia Ave./Howard University McDonald’s I look them square in the eye and tell them, «I’m Lovin’ It!» Then they tell me to settle down, dude.

Four stars for just being open after the clubs close. There were many a drives to my friend’s house when a stop at MickeyD’s was in order. Dancing all night at H2O was always capped off by burger and fries, drama, and laughs at the busted guys in the parking lot. Lots of love to the ugly guys with the nice cars. Lot’s of hate for the scary guys who tried to park in my car since we wouldn’t give them attention. I miss those days…
