Didnt try the food. The place was small. If you come just for drinks, then you dont really have space to chill at. Unless you eat in, you won’t have your own table. I don;t like standing. Nice setting though.

I’m devastated. This spot… And now since it is closed, I can fairly put on the map, and off of my top secret Washington, DC treasure map… This spot was my top favorite magical date night destination. I could show a date all around town, and the moment we stop on at this little treasure box of an ethnic fusion restaurant, our fate would be sealed… Provided that we had first made it safely down the flight of long stairs featured in the film The Exorcist, which are only 2 blocks away from Mie N Yu. The veal wraps… though long removed from the menu still haunt my palette. The stuffed flounder … such a delicate flurry of spice, coconut cream, deep pools of curry and just smothered in crispy panko breading. And the rickshaws…. .. . Our Mie N Yu bartender from Jimmy Valentine that recognized our local cred with a wink and just filled em up! Thanks lady, you were a doll. …And I will never see you again in this now memorial Georgetown haunt. :( Oh my. I am devastated. RIP Mie N Yu

Came here late night with friends for drinks at the bar only, so the rating reflects that experience. First, I really enjoy the décor, and that’s not just because I’m Asian. Sure, they have some sort of Thai theme going on, with Buddhas and wooden furniture abound. However, it’s tastefully done and trends towards the classier side. Ambient lighting gives it a good vibe. I like how in the warmer weather, they use the curtain as the front door, so there’s a nice breeze that comes through. Our bartender was pretty cool and recommended us to try a drink, and it was tasty. Well-priced and not too crowded either.

One hot evening weekend on Saturday, I decided to go dine and visit what has been one of my favorite spot in town, Mie N Yu. Surprisingly, I see one familiar face, our waiter, Spencer, after these many years he is still serving at this restaurant, I guess the business is still good. :) Spencer was very attentive, on time and provided us with excellent costumer service. As well as the gentleman who hand me the paper towel in the unisex restroom. :) The only thing is, this time, the food quality is not as the best as I experience in the past. The lamb chop was overcook and dry, is not as juicy as I had in the past. And as an Indonesian, I was so excited when I find the Chicken Rica Rica is on the menu, so I choose that as my dinner that night, but it was not as I expected, Rica Rica is definitely have to be cook right with as certain amount of spices to create the best taste. :) But even though I wasn’t have the best meal at that time, and perhaps the chef was over busy that night, this experience would not stopping me from coming to this restaurant. Mie N Yu still a beautiful place. And I still enjoy coming to this place. Many good memories at this place I have. And hope for the better dishes for the next time I dine. :) Cheers! :)

I came here with a couple of friends with a bloomspot deal for brunch. We were all very excited about the idea of drink bloody marys all morning. Inside had a cool look to it. Unfortunately, that’s all the restaurant had to offer. It was somewhat busy in the morning, but not enough to blame it on that. We had reservations at 11am, but we were seated about 45min later because the staff were not cleaning up the tables to make them free for the next guest. After being seated we received menus, but the waiter ran off two seconds later. We waited another 15min for glasses that we could use at the bar for our drinks. Another 15 min later, we were finally approached about our order requests(so 30min since we sat down). I honestly don’t remember what I ate, but I guess it was decent. Nothing to rave about. After eating we had to wait another 15−20min for our bill after we had requested it. I love brunch and I can’t willingly come back here after the experience that my friends and I had, It was such a waste of time. Most of the moments that we were waiting could have been productively been filled by eating or drinking.

Made a reservation via Unilocal and someone from Mie N Yu called the day before to confirm. LOVE the décor and ambience of this place, very unique indeed, including the award-winning coed bathroom! We were seated in a booth under a tent that was on a raised platform so we were overlooking those around us. A bit tight but we managed. Friendly staff and good service. We ordered the Cripsy Calamari & Pickles($ 10), Mie N Yu Burger($ 13) and Banana Upside Down Pancake($ 10). YUMMY on the appetizer and pancake and OK on the burger. I think it was the sauce I didn’t like so I would order it on the side next time.

My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner – it was my pick. Even though I read all the bad reviews on the food, I was intrigued enough by the décor and ambiance to give it a whirl. Every time I pass by the place, my curiosity keeps growing since I can’t see inside pass the dark windows and heavy curtains. We sat downstairs in the Middle Eastern room. I love low seating, cushions, and throw pillows. The boyfriend begged to differ. On the other hand, he was completely amazed by the bathrooms, like some people have noted on here, but I didn’t see what the big deal was. Going with the reviews, we ordered the crab hushpuppies to start. We both loved them, so much so that we fought over the last piece. For the main course, he ordered the fish n’ grits and I ordered the bulgogi at the waiter’s suggestion. BIG mistake. The bulgogi was just overcooked beef with two scoops of white rice on the side. The beef wasn’t even sliced correctly. In fact, I don’t even think the meat came from the right part of the cow. The kimchi was the worst I have ever tasted(and you’re talking to someone who can eat a tub of REAL kimchi in front of the TV like one would do with a bag of Cheetos). Frankly, I could have made a similar dish at home – and done it even better. After sharing my initial disappointment, my boyfriend was sweet enough to trade plates with me since he didn’t mind either one. So onto my new dish: The salmon was good, but the broccoli rabe was burnt. For dessert, we tried the pineapple coustade with vanilla bean ice cream. The proportion was much smaller than we anticipated and the ice cream was NOT vanilla bean – it was just plain, old fashioned vanilla. All in all, listen to the consensus: Don’t go for the food; go for the atmosphere.

This restaurant looks absolutely amazing but that’s about all it has going for itself. I followed the host and she took us all the way through the restroom and its definitely a sight to see. They have something like a bird cage a group can sit in a eat planted in the middle of the floor and various stairs and other cages similar all around. The setup alone had me in awe. I was seated in a room that looked sorta like an Egyptian theme dining room, it was definitely stunning. Moving on, the drinks were extremely watered down and taste like nothing. The food came hot but tasteless as well. I cant remember exactly what I order but it was absolutely disgusting. I think this place is closed down now and I think I know why lol.
