Warning: Disgusting. Having seen lines at Mojo on other days, I assumed there was something going right there, but hadn’t checked it out(I live/work in NavyYard, so by now I’ve tried most of DC’s trucks)… I WISH I HADN’T. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my mom got the chicken bowl. Her chicken bowl was«meh,» but my sandwich? When we got to the office lunch room and I opened up the box, I was taken aback when I saw what was clearly only half of the roll(I had checked their bread style before ordering). What was really bad though, was that it wasn’t like the sandwich had been cut… no, there were two clearly visible bite marks where the rest of the sandwich once had been. Fortunately, beyond the initial revulsion, the sandwich wasn’t even chicken; it was a half eaten steak sandwich so I didn’t have any illusions of them selling half sandwiches for 8 bucks and thus didn’t make the mistake of eating from it. We hurriedly returned to the food truck parking area and I forcefully informed the truck operator of the situation, clearly letting him know(having previously worked in the restaurant industry) that this is exactly the type of thing a food truck loses it’s Operating License for. The operator didn’t seem even remotely surprised by what was going on, indicating they had figured out their mistake previously, but then not sent an emissary after us to correct their terrible(though likely honest) mistake. He didn’t even seem apologetic, though my comments about the license revocation seemed to illicit fear. He returned the cost of the sandwich and asked that I wait while they make the correct sandwich. The correct sandwich wasn’t as horrible as the business operations; it was of decent size and adequate flavor, though so messy as to not likely warrant a return, incident aside. The fact that the operator was eating a sandwich in the truck window(found out past-facto from two coworkers who chose to avoid Mojo today for that very reason) is incredibly unsanitary to begin with. It is so much worse that as a result of his irresponsible actions as both an operator of a truck and a purveyor of food, he handed a customer his own half-eaten sandwich. I am already feeling queasy and wish I had just taken my money back and left, but I was out of time and needed something to eat by that point. I will be reporting this to the DCFSHISD and Food Truck Fiesta because I hope no one else ever has to have the kind of experience fellow Unilocal reviewer Sunny D.(Food Poisoning) and I have had to endure from this truck. My trust of all trucks(from which I eat lunch daily) has been shaken by the reckless and careless actions of the Mojo Truck operator. Avoid this truck like the plague.

Got to try the Mojo Truck’s Steak Special at Livingsocial’s Beerfest, after waiting a good 30 – 45 minutes in line. I appreciated the quality of ingredients and could identify how good they’d be as individual and separate components, but all together, it was kind of a sloppy mess. Like eating a casserole out of a bread bowl bun. Didn’t seem to come together very well and nothing stood out among the ingredients. Disappointing. Bottom line, worth trying given a better effort, but not if you have to wait in line for longer than 10 minutes.

I decided it was time to try a new food truck for lunch! As I was doing my usual research for Thursday lunches, I stumbled across something called a «chivito». Sounds unique… exotic…chivito-y. My chivito connoisseur friends told me that an authentic chivito has these key ingredients: tender steak, ham, mozzarella cheese, and fried egg. The Mojo Truck promised all of those things. They say that they offer fresh homemade bread but that is not what I received. The sandwich looked nothing like the photos on this page. The«handmade» bread was barely holding its fillings together. I was a little disappointed that the steak in the sandwich was the same kind that you would find in any mediocre steak n cheese sub and it was so salty! I paid an extra $ 2 for the barely there deli ham and sauteed onions. The mojo sauce had very good flavors and it was disappointing that everything else in the sandwich didn’t match its deliciousness. I really hope this was just an off day for them!

It’s very hard to walk by this Truck and not purchase a pork or steak sandwich

Had my first sandwich with pork, and it was so good, I almost died. The pork had a smokey flavor that balanced well with the mustard sauce. The egg and cheese were delicious and helped to balance out the rest of the sandwich. My second trip– the pork was different this time– it was more mushy, with no taste. What happened to the smokey goodness from my first sandwich? It also had a red sauce instead of the yellow — the red isn’t as good. Third sandwich– decided to try the chicken, since its marinated in mojo. It was good, but somewhere in between the other two– it had more flavor than the mushy pork but less than the smokey pork. I still really like they’re sandwiches, but I wish the pork had not changed– the smoked pork in my very first sandwich was so delicious! Other notes: bun is yummy and toasted, and the $ 8 price tag for the regular sandwich isn’t bad(extras will be 1 – 2 bucks more). Owner is super nice too!

This sandwich nearly slayed me. It was 11:30am and I was already swimming in coffee. It was just one of those days where I just couldn’t wake up, yet, I had a billion thing sto do. *sigh*. So when I heard the siren sound of food trucks pulling up in front of my office, I thought«oh hai food trucks! you will perk me right up!» Then I ordered the Steak Special and I was slayed. Don’t get me wrong, the Steak Special was delcious! A sandwich with tender slices of steak, lettuce, tomato, avocado, sauce, cheese and thinly sliced ham… the concept is great, and the flavors were pretty wonderful. However, halfway through the sandwich, I could feel a desperate food coma decending upon me… and by the time I finished, I was ready to pull a Constanza.

I’m pretty harsh on the food trucks but this one is one of the better ones out there. Chicken, pork, steak, and Veggie Chivito sandwiches with a choice of classic, Canadian, and Special toppings. The classic is a solid sandwich and is good on its own. Getting the special adds stuff but doesn’t make the sandwich that much better, but does make substantial. There is nothing that stands out about the sandwiches. The egg is done right, the buns slightly toasted, not to hard, not to soft. The sauce is there but the taste of it is not strong or extremely memorable. Even the size of the sandwhich isn’t particularly huge or small. But when you add a bunch of things that don’t stand out you get something that actually does stand out. Goldilocks would be happy and so would you.

Holy crap, where has the Mojo Truck been in my life?! A man can eat Burrito bowls and spicy Korean beef before going mad. I think I wet myself a little after my first bite of my chicken special. The toasted bun is perfect, the meat flavorful, the sauce adds a zing and it all just tasted so darn good. I’ll give the beef and pork a try next.

As I’ve mentioned before, if you want a classic sandwich, the Rolling Ficelle is probably your best bet, at least among food trucks. But sometimes you want something with a bit more character, and that’s where the Mojo sandwich truck comes in. They serve four types chivito sandwiches: pork, chicken, beef, or vegetarian. The classic comes with mojo sauce, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, and an egg but you can also upgrade to the Canadian, which adds ham, or the Special, which adds avocado. The first time I tried the truck, I got the special. That’s a lot of sandwich, and to be honest, more sandwich than I need, so lately I’ve been getting just the classic, which is more than enough. The sandwiches come on a nice soft Italian loaf, toasted on the inside to give it just a bit of crispiness. What really makes the sandwiches shine is the quality of the ingredients. The bread is soft, but sturdy enough for even the special sandwiches. The pork is tender and juicy, with enough crispy bits to give the sandwich some texture. The tomatoes are meaty, and the egg and cheese give a good creaminess. The mojo sauce adds some tang, but there’s not so much that it overwhelms the other ingredients(or gets all over your pants). In the middle of a long day, the Mojo sandwiches really hit the spot.

It’s crazy how I discovered this place. I went to Truckeroo and stood in line because I thought the truck looked cool. Might be one of the best decisions I made in my life. one of the best sammiches I’ve had in my life. The bread is soooo soft and toasted, the classic is so money, bacon, fried egg, avocado, and bacon common lets get real! This shit aint healthy but it’s hella good. If you find this truck hail it down make it stop and wait in line… It’s worth the wait.

MOJOSAUCE = ADDICTIVE!!! This funky truck got my attention during my walk around at Truckaroo 7. This sandwich is PERFECT. The mojo sauce is tangy, the pork was moist and tender, the toasted bread will make anyone forget all about a low-carb diet, and when you put them all together it is one of the best things that I’ve had to eat in a while. I would not have thought that a sandwich would make it to the top of my «Oh my God that is so good!!!» list but this one does.

I used to run a sandwich shop, so I’m pretty damn picky about sandwiches/subs. These guys are doing right. Enormous portion, super tasty and not all bread. I’ve gotten a sandwich twice and each time had it ordered«special,» once with Chicken and once with Steak. They season the meat nicely. Well done.

Yeah ok, the MOJO truck is pretty freakin’ awesome. The menu is simple. The cost of the sandwiches is reasonable($ 7 – 9). The folks are friendly and quick. Oh, and the sandwiches are DELICIOUS! What did I have? The Steak Special. I went all out. I had the«Special» topping. First thoughts? The sandwich is HUGE. The other reviewers weren’t kidding. The size of the food alone is worth the price. Taste? The home-made bread is fantastic. I liked it that they grilled with a little bit of butter(?) to add some crispiness to it. I didn’t get a lot of the Black Forest Ham flavor. But the sandwich had a nice helping of steak and bacon. But in addition to the sauteed onions, avocade«cream», and mozz cheese — the fried egg is the topper. It made this sandwich totally top-notch in my book. Afterwards? I think I took a nap. I was so full.

Today was my second time at mojo truck and it was as delicious today as it was the first time! The first time I ordered the chicken classic but added avocado for an extra dollar and it was just a glorious sandwich! Today I ordered the steak classic without the mozarella cheese and it was also delicious. Both times these sandwiches were just as deliciouis as could be! The meat is flavorful and tender without dripping in sauce. The bread is perfectly soft even with a light toasting which gives it nice texture. The fried egg on top… it just adds a little something to the sandwich without overpowering it. My only critique: needs a spicy sauce! I understand that this is a uruguayan sandwich, and Uruguay isn’t known for spicy condiments, but it would still be nice to offer some kind of spicy sauce to go with it for those who want spicy. Overall, it’s a great filling, satisfying sandwich. I think it’s worth the price for such a huge sandwich and one that isn’t your average turkey sandwich on white bread. I highly recommend this food truck and I’ll be back again! The reason for 4 stars? Needs to offer a spicy kick option.

It’s entirely possible that I’m missing something, but this is one of the better steak sandwiches that I’ve had. $ 7 for lettuce, tomato, mozzarella cheese and a fried egg on some really yummy bread, and I was stuffed. I get the quantity/quality dilemma, but I’m also tired of having to spend $ 12 at food trucks to be full.

Honestly, I only went to this truck because the Korengy wouldnt accept cards — I really wanted a Bulgogi Bibimbap. Anyway, I ordered the steak special sandwich. I dont get what is so special about these sandwiches, Ive had much better. I was annoyed that the«avocado» was more like an avocado spread — not slices of avocado — they should make that more clear. The sandwich is definitely big and filling, but meh… Ive had better.

I went in blind, not knowing what to expect, but assuming«it’s all good» due to the line — about 10 deep. It was better than good. Really really liked the chicken classic. And the sammy is HOT and stays hot for my couple block walk. YUM

Tried their Steak Special at Truckeroo 4. It was an enormous portion-sized sandwich, tasty, packed with ingredients such as lettuce, bacon, ham, avocado, and fried egg. However, because it was overly packed with ingredients, all the ingredients fell right through the middle of the sandwich. For some reason, I think Mojo knew this would happen because they provided a fork alongside your order. There was a lot going on in the Steak Special to the point where I couldn’t seem to enjoy all the different flavors fully, but glad I gave it a try anyway.

The fundamentals of their sandwiches are pretty good. The bread is substantial and holds the fillings well. The steak is tasty. The egg and mozzarella go with it remarkably well. The lettuce and tomato were just awful. They shouldn’t be on this sandwich at all. Next time I’ll try adding some of the other toppings and skipping the gross, watery, vegetables. It’s never going to be the Lobster Roll truck or the deep dish truck, but I enjoyed it.

I just had my first Mojo experience. I tried the Steak«Special» which has everything on it, to include: Lettuce, Tomato, Mozzarella, fried egg, sauté onions, ham, avocado and bacon. As you can imagine the sandwich was a bit of a mess especially since the egg was also served a little bit runny. This is fine with me but if you don’t care for runny egg yolk you may want to request your egg well done(though I should note that the other person I ordered with did not have a runny yolk). I had to do some digging to determine exactly what a «Chivito» sandwich consists of… wikipedia to the rescue: — apparently the national dish in Uruguay, though the guy running the truck claims the sandwiches are of Spanish origins. Unfortunately, Mojo Truck’s website is still not up and running so I am at a loss to gather any additional information about their particular brand and menu. The steak sandwich was not bad though I found the meat a bit dry and a tad blander than I would have expected with all of the«mojo sauce» hype. It is a fairly size-able sandwich for $ 9(highest price for the special treatment noted above) other sandwiches are a dollar less for each respectively. The truck also offers chicken, pork and vegetable(though they weren’t serving veggies today due to a noted«quality issue»). The bread, which I understand is scratch made, was chewy and quite tasty and held up well under the messy weight of all of the fillings. As a self declared«food truck aficionado» I do have a few logistical suggestions: 1) get the website up and running — it’s been almost 2 months. You need the website to provide a better description of the concept and menu. 2) Menu descriptions on the truck are TINY. You can barely read them even when standing right in front of the truck. 3) Menu location on the truck is terrible it is under the order window which means when there is a line you can’t read it until you are directly in front of the window which causes a delay in ordering. Move it up high and to the right of the window so everyone can see it and you will avoid the bobbing, bouncing, and leaning of folks trying to read the menu. I may go back to try the chicken or pork if they come back to my office area, but there really wasn’t any«wow» factor with this truck as I have found with some of the others out there.
