New H Wine and Spirits

One of my favorite liquor stores. They have a great selection of foriegn beers and rums!

Super solid beer selection, tons of local and regional beers, great refrigerated selection and diverse selection of craft favorites like 21^st Amendment and Dogfish. I’ve been living in the area for about a year and haven’t found a single option for buying decent beers in the area, until New H came across my radar. Glad I found it, this will be my go to spot to pick up some interesting beers from now on. Oh, and everyone who works here is super friendly, which is a huge added bonus!

Employees are friendly and helpful and store is well stocked with amazing variety of beers and wines. One time I went in, I was chatting with the person at the register and he also told me that if there’s any kind of wine that I was looking for that they didn’t have, if possible he’d be able to order it for me. While I probably would never take advantage of that offer, it’s a good thing to know and appreciated. Their Beer selection is also excellent and they have an interesting variety of other ciders, etc. They also have liquor, but I’ve not bought it there. Prices are higher than grocery store, but not too absurd and the variety makes up for the difference.

The boyfriend has been on an intense craft beer kick lately. Which means if we pass by a store we’ve never been to, or a new place, we have to pop in. We went in with zero expectations, and were pleasantly surprised!
We were greeting by the owners, who are very friendly people. They were so cheerful that it out a smile on my face! They must love what they do here.
Of course we made a beeline to the beer selection (towards the back) where we browsed larger bottles, six packs in the fridge, etc. etc. I was happy to see lots of cider here, and less of the mainstream stuff. They have a pretty good variety of beer, and to our surprise, an impressive line-​up of DC Brau! Boyfriend was so happy to find a limited release Pils that he hadn’t tried, some more of an IPA that’s (apparently) rare… Which means we walked out with 3 six packs.
When it came time to check out, the owners surprised us with DC Brau glasses! They realized that was the only thing we were buying, and gave us 3! It was such a sweet gesture of them when weren’t even buying that much. What a great neighboorhood liquor store!

Great selection, friendly staff. A welcome addition to H Street.

We wandered in here last night, after a quick trip to H St Organic Market. I have no idea when this place opened, but it very much smells new. New paint, new wood, new construction. Lots of new smells!
The guy at the counter was super nice, and made sure we felt welcome. Their wine selection is actually impressive, with a variety of countries represented, and prices are reasonable. The beau was super impressed with their beer selection, literally moving from one display to the next, vocally sharing his delight at the variety and smaller craft brews available. «We had this beer at that dive bar in Boulder!» «They have Long Trail! I’ve never seen that outside of the Northeast!»
They also had a nice selection of cider, which was a pleasant surprise. The liquor selection is all behind the counter, which made it a bit difficult to see everything that was there (and also, I need glasses), but it seemed like a good selection.
They definitely need more of an online presence, but I liked the spot! We’ll likely be back!
