This is in Woodley Park, west of DC. I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park across the street. The restaurant is on the strip of about a dozen restaurants on both sides of Connecticut Avenue. Petits Plats is in an old house taking up the second and third floor. Very nice and cozy dinning area. Perfect for my business dinner meeting with a client. Surprisingly for DC, their wine list is not outrageous! Great selection too… As all the rest of the Unilocalers suggested, the Onion Soup is to die for… very sweet and rich. Ranks very high on my Onion Soup-a-lious list! I ordered the Beef Tenderloin. Pretty tasty creamy peppercorn with a nice presentation. The Tenderloin was perfectly done. My dinner guest order the Steak Frites, the menu said a ribeye, but to me it look like a sirloin, very thin. He did not complain… Just my observation. Overall, it was a great experience.

I loved this place! It is super cozy, the welcome and the service are great. I discovered this restaurant thanks to the Alliance Française of DC(Sarah Pickup-Diligenti). For my 1st visit in Washington I was very pleased to discover this tiny cozy location and to smell wonderful dishes as soon as we passed the entrance. I ordered the«special» shrimps/rizotto with lobster crème and a crème brulée as dessert made with REAL vanilla. The rice was a bit raw for me(but it seems to be cooked like this everywhere I go in this country…), but all the rest was nice and tasty. The portions are not too big, so we should not waste any food. I really recommend this warm and«european»(more than French) restaurant!

Petits plats is a small, authentic, cozy, kinda romantic French restaurant. My second favorite French in DC area! I’ve been here few times for dinner and last Sunday had my first brunch. Great brunch options and prices. The food was excellent as always! I’ve had the goat cheese lamb sandwich. It comes with a side of salad and fries $ 14. I’m very picky when it comes to lamb. I just hate the heavy lamb flavor but, you barely could taste it! I was happy, My sandwich was absolutely deliciousness. Sea food salad was excellent! The French onion soup was ahhhhmazing! One of my favorite appetizers! Sautéed calamari! Must to try! … And the grand mariner crepes great ending to a delicious meal! Not too heavy, not too sweet! This cute little restaurant is located at woodley park area. Right next to woodley park-zoo metro. So you don’t have to drive ;) With the Unilocal check in you get a special for the next visit $ 35 for 3 courses. Which i think a great deal.

Foie Gras was cold instead of hot. The three course menu sounds like a nice option. Place was kinda small. Food was nice but nothing spectacular.

Absolutely amazing. The French Onion Soup was great and the Beef in cream sauce was amazing. My sister had the lamb cheeks and it was great too. The only thing that was so-so was the crème brûlée but that wouldn’t ever stop me from going back or recommending this place to anyone. Fabulous! Out of the French Restaurants I’ve been to its my favorite!

I can not say enough good things about this place. Best brunch, amazing french toast and eggs Florentine, wonderful servers who remember your name and orders. Excellent steak frites and beef bourguignon. Lovely outdoor seating and cappuccino.

Food was great. Cheese platter was unimpressive. Quality and flavor was top notch. Expensive night out.

Awesome experience. We had the four course menu with wine paring. Wonderful food — loved mushroom risotto with scallops was the bomb. Dessert was very special — they wished us happy anniversary on the plate in chocolate. Service was outstanding. Patit Plats made our fifteenth anniversary memorable experience.

The wait staff was very friendly. The good was delicious. had the vegetable lasagna and beef w pasta. Food was four star worthy but the atmosphere is not. Tables too close together and no fire in the fireplace.

This place has 5 star food and with the Unilocal check in offer(currently $ 35 for a 3 course meal) I’d give it 5 stars for value. The location is in a quiet DC neighborhood. My parents like to eat early so we’ve always lucked out with street parking– right outside! Sash, don’t steal our spot ;) The ambience is nice– inside a cozy house. It can be a bit warm inside, but it’s comfortable. Classy but not stuffy. I took a star off for the service. It’s a nice restaurant with pricy food but the servers seem more like the type you’d find at a cheaper restaurant. They’re not very attentive or courteous. Ok– the food! I’ve been twice now and both times EVERYTHING was outstanding. The bread is hot and fresh, with chopped olives in olive oil for dipping. Foie gras– amazing! It’s a decent sized portion of melt in my mouth goodness. The toast slices they serve it with don’t quite do it justice, but the fruit compote is the perfect accent. Order it! The baked mussels are essentially escargot style with pesto-y garlic butter. On the smaller side but still delish. My baked salmon with lentils was perfectly cooked and a nice size portion. My parents got the roast chicken and French fries and it was TONS of food for them. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had a mustard gravy. I preferred my salmon though. Dessert was warm bread pudding in a creamy sauce that tasted like an alcoholics breath. A bit too much liquor in there but the beltway pudding itself was lovely. Overall, this place is solid, totally worth it and delicious. Don’t expect fine dining service and you won’t be dissatisfied.

Neat old home converted to a restaurant, French onion soup was great but not the best I’ve ever had, had the baked mussel appetizer and it was delicious too.

I chose this restaurant for a group visiting from out of town, and I think they were more impressed than I. We ordered a bottle of the Chateauneuf-Du-Pape, which was delicious, but the server was very heavy handed with it, and poured the entire bottle out into 4 glasses and almost immediately asked if we’d like another. Obviously, servers can be heavy handed to try to move more bottles, but that’s an expensive bottle of wine to push that quickly! We ordered a round of appetizers– the salads were okay, the foie gras was average– nothing really wowed. I ordered one of the mussels dishes and they were absolutely delicious. The mussels were on the smaller side but were one of the largest servings I’ve ever seen. The salmon on lentils and the duck confit both received rave reviews. I tried the grand marnier crêpe, which I didn’t think was great. Additionally, it was about 80 degrees out and though they had the windows open, the restaurant was stifling. Service was mediocre. All in all, I’d say that Petits Plats has a lot of excellent qualities, but the potential to be a lot better.

Very good food. This would be a great place for someone who may be intimidated by «fancy» French restaurants or the cuisine itself. Everything on the menu was easily recognizable and the staff was more than willing to give recommendations and discuss each of the options. The seating is fairly intimate and somewhat cramped but it wasn’t bad. If you happen to be in D.C. this would be a great place to go for dinner.

3.5 stars: After seeing how long the line at open city was, we decided to come here for brunch before our flight left because they had no wait. Ordered a personalized spinach and ham omelette while my boyfriend had the salmon and eggs benedict with a latte. Food was good overall, but nothing spectacular for its price. It was a cozy place with good service, however the waitress was watching people eat like a hawk. I understand being attentive and aware of customer needs is important, but it was kind of unsettling for me, idk.

Great ambiance, excellent food served elegantly with very fine service in a warm and cozy environment at very reasonable prices … not too much else to say. Real wood-burning fireplace in the front room. Love this place.

Went there with a group for dinner. Ambiance is romantic and the fireplace with crackling wood is a great touch. The service was just ok; the server sort of ignored certain people in our party the first two times he sauntered over. The food was solid French food. The squid and mushroom ravioli were good starters. The seafood medley on risotto was good. The scallops got the best reviews; «melt in your mouth» was how one in our group described it. The vegetable lasagna was fine, if uninteresting. Two people ordered the cassoulet and found it to be a comforting winter meal(caution: it’s *very* hot, temperature wise). The reason I think the experience was less than the sum of its parts is because the food just seemed very ordinary for the price. I encourage the restaurant to be a little bolder with some of its offerings. I understand they want to be a traditional French restaurant, and I’m not suggesting that they change that, but a few dishes that attempt something novel would spice up the menu. (I think ideally I’d give it three stars. But most people interpret 3 stars to be a bad thing, as opposed to the A-OK it’s supposed to represent, so nominally I’ll mark 4).

I enjoyed my meal immensely. Was a little skeptical at first based on some other reviews. Pictures rarely lie and always first try what others say is good. The service was very attentive. French Onion Soup — 3 stars Caesar Salad — 4.5 stars Beef Beurgenion — 5 stars Bread to scoop up the gravy — priceless

I was extremely disappointed in my lunch here. First and foremost, we waited 50 minutes from placing our(simple) order and receiving our food. That is completely and totally unacceptable. Waiting wouldn’t be so bad if it were worth it. My «salad» was rather small and unimpressive. First of all it was two small shrimp and one scallop cut in half plus overcooked tuna and salmon. Then, there was a tiny amount of lettuce. And, they messed up my request for dressing on the side. I would have sent it back if I were not worried about waiting another 50 minutes. And the price was not good. My salad was $ 19 which was way overpriced, even for this area. And, $ 3 for a CAN of soda? Really? Maybe if it were from a fountain with refills would that have been expensive but okay. However for a 12 oz can? Way overpriced. We sat outside and the weather was nice so the atmosphere was nice enough. I didn’t go in so I have no idea how it is inside So, to break it up better: Food(w/o considering price): 3.5÷5 Food(w/price considered): 1.5÷5 Service: 1⁄5 Atmospher: 2/5e

It’s a lovely place; in a busy area right near the Metro, but up a staircase and separated enough from the street that it feels rather intimate. The staff were top notch; busy to pick up dropped cutlery at a moment’s notice and helpful in explaining the menu. That being said, it’s like most French cuisine in that it’s pretty limited from a vegetarian perspective(from a choice of mushroom ravioli or vegetable lasagna I chose the latter). Tastewise, the bread and dipping oil that came before the meal and the chocolate mousse that came afterwards outdid the entrees. For a decent size party who had drinks and desserts, it was close to $ 50 a person before tips. Fancy dining with old world food is not the kind of dining I prefer, but they did their job so I’ll settle on three stars.
