I go to the Pinch at the White House Farmer’s Market every Thursday. I would probably go every day if they had a permanent location near my office. The dumplings are not the best dumplings I’ve ever had, but by far the best I’ve had in DC. The sides — usually rice and slaw — are mediocre at best, and the girls that work there are either in awful moods or maybe slightly above average moods depending on the day. The dumplings are the only worthwhile thing about the experience, but they really are worth coming back for.

Amazing! The best dumplings you’ll ever taste. Pinch’s menu rotates on a weekly basis, so you’ll have something new to try every week. Get them pan fried or streamed based on your preference!

$ 10 for some overpriced and disgusting dumplings.

Tried the pan fried pork and shrimp dumplings today and was very impressed — quite tasty and well executed. Four star rating due to the lackluster Asian slaw(although for $ 1 it was a fine accompaniment) and the ho-hum dumpling sauce(I personally like a bit more vinegar bite). Still, a great lunch choice especially on a pretty day.

If there is one fact that you need to know about me, is that I love dumplings of all kinds. There is something magical about a perfect pocket of delicate dough stuffed to the brim with juicy delicious filling. While it sounds simple enough, I’ve actually had my fair share of less than yummy dumplings. I ran into Pinch at the City Center Farmer’s Market and I knew that I had to give them a try. They were serving an assortment of vegan and meat dumplings. Being the carnivore that I am, I got their two meat options: chicken and asparagus and beef. Both came with a dumpling dipping sauce and an Asian slaw($ 1 extra). While fried dumplings are always infinitely 100% better, I chose to get the steamed option in an attempt to be healthy. My freshly steamed hot dumplings were ready in less than five minutes and I excitedly split it with my husband. The quality in their product is evident: they hand roll their dough, grind their filling using local and organic ingredients, and pinch their dumplings daily. When eaten with their vinegary Asian slaw on top, it is a delicious combination. $ 19 for two orders is a bit pricey but to find quality, delicious dumplings it is worth the price!

Ok but not great. I had the vegan dumplings on this visit. Dumpling texture/fry was good. Filling of carrot, noodle, and seitan. Asked for a 50⁄50 split on my order so I could try fried and steamed, but they declined. Paid $ 1 for a side of «Asian slaw», which wasn’t filled to the top of the container. For almost 10 bucks this was a small amount of decent but uninspired food. I was still hungry after. Would be three stars if it were a better value. **Note this is a food stand – this was at the Farmers Market in Federal Triangle(Fridays from 11 – 3).
