Review is just for the«Poppy Bear» sandwich. SOGOODBESTTHINGEVER. It’s a waffle, fried chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone, and chipotle sauce. The waffle is very thin like bread and it’s sweet & all the flavors go together so good. The chipotle sauce gets all messy but you don’t care if you’re eating like an animal in public because it’s amazing!

Nice little place to grab a quick bite to eat. The staff is friendly and the food isn’t bad at all. It’s a good place to go if you don’t really know what you’re in the mood for since they have a variety of options.

Now, I have to say that while I’d heard of asian fusion, I had no idea what it was until I got around to coming here. And you know what, not too shabby. I tried a Poppabox with teryaki chicken and though I’m not big on teryaki, it was still pretty good. Thrown together with fried rice, a salad, and a few pieces of an imitation-crab meat california roll and you’ve got yourself lunch for now and a part 2 for later. Turns out this place also has ice cream, which I didn’t try, but did look pretty good. If the ice cream is good, then looks like you’ve got the ideal summer lunch spot.

Love the food, have been on a good Bulgogi kick lately and also like the most of the staff and their patience to answer any of my questions with some of their new editions to the menu. Beware the latin cashier, she was brash-told me to hold on when there was no one in line, she was about to start sweeping when she forgot I was waiting to order and she still got my order wrong. When I told her it was wrong, she did not try to fix it until I told her what I said reminded her what my original order. Unfortunately I had to leave and could not wait for a new box/bowl to be made…

This is a little specialty restaurant that offers a quick bite for meals. I really like the decoration, especially their wall of customer photos. The food is quick and filling, but don’t expect any authenticity with the Asian food, but there’s definitely enough food to fill you up.

I set expectations a bit low for this place. The star is for the nice people who took our order but the food was not so great. The spicy tuna roll that came with the deluxe box looked and tasted like canned tuna. Took one bite and left the rest behind. The noodles were soggy and over cooked. The highlight was the template but even that was super oily. Even the boba tea was just ok, had bits of ice in it so wasn’t at all smooth and creamy.

This is my go-to lunch spot. Lots of options, from waffles to beef bulgogi. I either get the mini box or the noodle box, always with tofu and vegetables. The tofu is perfectly textured with a great marinade. Don’t forget to pick up some boba!

Poppabox is a good quick breakfast and lunch spot in the Foggy Bottom area. Breakfast waffle sandwiches and bento bowls/boxes are their biggest hits. They also do waffle lunch sandwiches. Quickly made with a nice selection of Tea’sTeas in their bottle case. Only thing is that every time I’ve been here, the inside tables are kinda dirty with crumbs. Note: They don’t accept American Express credit cards here.

Much better since my last review. I’m thinking maybe the bumps were opening ones. Anyhow, I go here quite often for lunch. The food is fresh, fast, and service friendly. Much improvement!

Whew! Let me tell yall, this place is good. Maybe I am a bit overly excited after having the best lunch ever, but I felt that I should review this place. Let me say I hate the food scene in Foggy Bottom, it’s over priced and lacking in options. As a student at GWU, I spend my food income on the ridiculously priced Whole Foods Hot Bar or Chipotle. Well, No more! I have a new place called Poppabox. They are great because their serving is plentiful(not stingy with their meat portion like *cough* Chipotle), it’s flavorful and it’s reasonably priced. I am not sure why some reviewers on here are whinning of their prices. You are in Foggy Bottom you know… Here is how to get a meal under $ 10: 1) Order a teppanyaki spicy pork/chicken/Bulgogi bowl which comes out to $ 8 something. 2) Ask for a cup of water which should be free. 3) Add taxes and ur total meal is $ 9 and some change. That’s it and I promised that bowl will fill you up.

Came here for a quick lunch in DC before the huge snow storm! This place is super cute and quick if you want some delicious Korean food. I ordered the Bugolgi Bibimbap bowl. Sadly they were out of boba but the food made up for everything! The service was quick and efficient! The bowl came with a big serving of bulgolgi and veggies and served over a bed of rice. The serving portion itself was more than enough to feed my hunger! The bulgolgi was perfectly cooked and came with a sauce that you pour over your whole bowl! I was more than happy with my choice and would love to come back again to try the other bibimbap bowls, boba and waffle sandwiches. I recommend this place for your quick lunch fix!

I came here for a quick bite on the run today in between errands(i.e., prepping for #blizzard2016 this weekend), and listened to the tips by sampling one of the mini bowls. Loved it! I tried the bulgogi with mixed vegetables, and it was delicious! Highly recommend. Also loved their drink selection(opted for unsweetened green tea). Will definitely return! p. s. + 1 star for playing Stone Temple Pilots. :-)

This place is one of my go-to lunch spots during my work week. I tried this place once for dinner and got one of the waffle sandwiches and wasn’t impressed because the waffle was cold and bland, but I found my key dish that I keep coming back for… bimbimbap! This ain’t the traditional Korean bimbimbap though. It’s got pineapple which sounds strange but works. I always get the bulgogi which is enough for me to ration into two meals. It’s a fairly healthy choice in foggy bottom if ya don’t eat all the white rice.(this place would get extra points for brown rice!) The shop itself is very cute and reminds me of cafes in Korea. It’s a nice place to have a quick lunch with a friend. It’s usually quite busy at lunch but I never have to wait a long time for my meal. I would deffo recommend this place

This is one of my favorite lunch spot in DC. They have a great varieties of rice bowl such as teppanyaki, teriyaki and bibimbap. I ordered the mini tofu teppanyaki bowl($ 3.95), came with fried rice(can sub with white rice), slaw, and carrots. It was decently price and enough portion for me. The seating area is small, so this is more of a to go place. I would definitely recommend this place.

Interesting combination of food offered here — waffles, Korean, and Japanese food. I’ve been here a couple times and have ordered the chicken teriyaki and tofu both teppanyaki style(served over rice and vegetables). FYI chicken is dark meat and the tofu is deep fried. The teriyaki sauce was good and just the right amount. The vegetables are simply stir-fried and include cabbage, broccoli, carrots, and onions. They give you the option of steamed white rice and fried rice. While I enjoy the fact I do not have to pay an extra charge for the fried rice, I don’t recommend getting it. It lacks flavor and is too greasy. The portions are generous and the price can’t be beat for Foggy Bottom($ 10-$ 12)! Next time I come here, I want to try one of their sandwiches which uses waffles in place of normal sliced bread or their sushi. The staff is friendly and quick and the place is clean. There is limited seating inside and no outdoor seating(sadface). Totally random but the place always has a great playlist going and I love the brightly colored décor. There is a small window next to the main shop where you can get ice cream, coffee, and bubble tea. I have not yet try the ice or bubble tea because I am always too full. Is it the best food I have ever had? No but it is not a bad option for lunch and you can’t argue with the price.

Poppabox is a super yummy and very filling lunch spot in Foggy Bottom(ish). I ordered the beef bulgogi with fried rice. It was a huge portion that included 4 pieces of sushi, some tempura, and fruit, all for $ 12.95! My boyfriend picked up lunch for both of us, and said ordering was a breeze! Amazingly, it wasn’t too busy during noon. I am totally on-board with Poppabox as a savory alternative to salads, soups, and sandwiches which is actually quite boring after a while. Their adorable branded boxes are just an additional plus.

FYI: I eat majority of my food cold, I don’t know why but I’ve done it since I was a child and it’s too late change now. So it’s something to be said that Chicken and Waffles can still be just as amazing at room temperature several hours later. Just kinda happened upon it before a doctor’s appointment in the area, and decided to try it heading back to the metro. Cool spot, cool name, clean inside and out. Interesting dishes, so I’ll be back to try more! And the cashier lady was nice too. Lol Part 2 to my FYI: Sriracha and syrup work surprisingly well when you accidentally add them together on purpose. Go and enjoy.

(4.5 stars) I have to give credit where it’s due. I was thoroughly impressed with my chicken teriyaki(teppanyaki-style). I’ve been so disappointed with the slew of mediocre lunch options in the foggy bottom/farragut area. Finally, I’ve found one that’s not only pretty darn tasty, but relatively cheap and quick too. For $ 10, I got a bowl of chicken teriyaki atop mixed vegetables and fried rice. I really appreciate that they give you the option of getting fried rice; I’m always a little disappointed when a meal only comes with white rice. The chicken was plentiful, nicely cooked, seemed like good quality meat, and managed to retain a strong teriyaki flavor without the need for a heavy sauce. The vegetables were lightly grilled and not just thrown on there cold. And the fried rice was light and enjoyable on its own. The whole dish was a light yet filling option that I would definitely get again.

Stopped here for lunch yesterday after finding out Founding Farmers had a 2 hour wait. So happy we did! The food was plentiful & very tasty! I had the beef bulgoggi bibimbap. Lots of meat & veggies! A little heavy on the lettuce, but there was enough meat & rice. Others had the chicken teriyaki and liked it! Will definitely be back!

All summer this breakfast lunch spot had a line out the door, but lately I noticed since it’s been chilly the lines are no longer there. I knew I would get around to checking this place out eventually. I tried their beef bulgogi, they offer a choice of steamed rice and fried rice. I went with the steamed. Service did not take long, cost $ 9.85, and the portion was a nice size. I am pleased to report that this was the best bulgogi that I’ve tasted out of about the 4 times I’ve eaten it at various places. Poppabox is a cute restaurant with a window on the side where you can order ice cream, bubble tea, and coffee. I love the bright yellow décor and top 40’s pop and r n ‘b music they pump during lunch. It’s small, kind of reminds me of a clubhouse. I think the concept is really cool and hip, a nice break from the office. They offer sandwich wraps, breakfast, and they specialize in waffle sandwiches, as well as chicken ‘n waffles. There are quite a few items to choose from, so it will be a while before I get bored of this place. Something New. Something Fun. Yayyy!
