Once again, I feel like I have to update and drop another star. While the food is always consistently delicious, we have had one bad experience at the bar after another. The last time we were here, a bartender forgot to charge us for one drink. We pointed this out, then they gave us a check in which we were overcharged for the drink! This time, we ordered one drink off of the happy hour menu($ 9 – good deal), one drink – Dirty Martini – off the regular menu($ 13 – average deal) and one plain old vodka and club($ 16 – terrible deal.) We simply cannot justify paying $ 18 for food and $ 38 for 3 drinks.

The manager and bartender were quite rude during our Saturday afternoon visit a few weeks ago. I used to think highly of Ruth’s Chris, and I continue to believe that the chain is of high quality, but the DC Chinatown restaurant should be avoided at all costs. There are plenty of alternatives in the downtown DC area.

Wow! We came here for our 5 year«Washington» anniversary. We actually celebrated in Maine and here. We debated even coming because we knew it was pricey. But, Oh My, what a dinner. You can get the Ruth’s Classic and save a few dollars but who care if you are here to celebrate, the food is outstanding! My ribeye was to die for. And when you order«med» you get«med». And my wife had the Filet. It trumped my ribeye and it was amazing also! So, Yes, you over pay, but, YES, the food is dang good! So for us, it was worth the experience and the anniversary to eat here. Or if on a business account, hell yeah. :)

I am in love with Ruth’s Chris’s cocktail dinners. My first one was at the convention center location, and that was heavenly. I didn’t really feel the same way after this one, although everything tasted amazing. My complaints were that our host didn’t really talk that much. The first time I went(at convention center) our bartender explained how to make the cocktail, gave history, and the food pairing was explained. Here, it felt less personal, and it was just… giving us food. The menu is below(sorry it’s long!) with some notes: First Course: Grilled Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Crispy Spinach paired with the Summer Star featuring Ketel One Oranje Vodka, Cointreau, Fresh Grapefruit and Lemon Juices and Prosecco Chicken was perfectly cooked, and we were all amazed at the spinach chips(impressive!!) The drink wasn’t too sweet. Second Course: Carrot Ginger Soup with Toasted Coconut, Fresh Cilantro and Sour Cream paired with the Coconut Ginger Lemon Drop featuring Ketel One Citroen Vodka, Ciroc Coconut Vodka, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Ginger-Infused Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice and Candied Ginger I’m not a huge fan of carrot soup, but this was amazingly creamy and didn’t overpower you with carrot flavor. I wasn’t a fan of the coconut flavor to it, but that made it pair well with the delicious Coconut Ginger drink. one of the best cocktails I’ve had. Third Course: Tequila Cured Salmon with Avocado Panna Cotta and Fennel Hibiscus Salad with Cilantro Oil paired with the Crescent City Cooler featuring Don Julio Blanco Tequila, Hibiscus Tea, Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Juice, Cinnamon Syrup, Grenadine and Fresh Lime Juice The salmon was amazing. I could’ve eaten this all night. Basically looked like raw salmon, but it was cured, nice flavors, and went well with the jello-like avocado panna cotta, and the potent cilantro oil. The drink was a little strong for me, but still very sweet and tasty. Entrée Course: Filet Mignon Served Sizzling with Bourbon Glaze and Fried Onion Rings with Homemade Ketchup and Broiled Asparagus with Hollandaise Sauce paired with the Scottish Tea Time featuring JohnnieWalker Black, Homemade Earl Grey Syrup and Fresh Lemon Juice I was able to get a substitute: I got a giant slab of Chilean Sea Bass, nice and flaky. It wasn’t as buttery as I hoped though. Cooked well and still a little bit juicy. We shared a plate of onion rings(awesome) and asparagus(standard). Dessert Course: Strawberry Crepes with Lemon Cream Filling and Fresh Whipped Cream paired with the Gin Bramble featuringTanqueray Ten Gin, Blackberries, Chambord and Fresh Lemon Juice Amazinggg. I generally don’t like lemon flavored desserts, but it was only a little bit tangy, mostly custard-y and sweet. Went well in the crêpe with strawberries. Yum. The gin wasn’t my drink. Ruth’s Chris. can’t wait till your next one! At $ 95 per person, the cocktail dinner is a steal considering the sheer amount of food and drink you get. Definitely a special occasion treat(it was my birthday), but… also just treat yoself.

For the 1st time I went last night to celebrate 9th wedding anniversary. Reservation was made so we didn’t have to wait at all. Our table was decorated with heart confetti. The food & drinks were AMAZING but I didn’t really like the lobster mac & cheese. Although it did have lots of lobster chunks, the mac tasted bland & no «cheesy» consistency. I definitely took leftovers b/c it was a lot of food. They were nice enough to give us a complimentary dessert along with our picture taken as a souvenir. Would definitely come back

Our first experience at Ruth’s Chris together was on a Thursday night. We typically sit at the bar to eat, so we headed over. Jamel greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly greeting. We both ordered Manhattans and were presented with gorgeous heaping bowls of cocktail. After some exchange about where the two of us work, we gave our orders for appetizer and entrée(we shared). We had the barbecue shrimp to start. The bread that came with the appetizer(not the complimentary stuff) sopped up the succulent sauce. With our steak entrée(ordered«blue» and perfect) came asparagus and was incredible. Every bite was perfect. Jamel was a perfect host. We couldn’t have asked for better service. –T+K

Lovely experience. I went here to celebrate my birthday with my mentor. To my surprise they decorated the table and provided us with nice seating near the bar. As a first timer here, I had a lot of questions about what’s good and what compliments what. Needless to say the waiter was helpful and attentive. I ended with the lamb chops and for our sides we had the mashed potates, asparagus and the crab mac and cheese. Everything was superb. Everything was fresh. We ended our experience with a complimentary dessert platter and photos, courtesy of the resturant. I loved everything about this establishment.

If I could give them zero stars I would. As a fan of Ruth Chris restaurants, I’ve never been more disappointed. Not only was my fiancé denied a glass of wine on Valentine’s Day, but she was treated with such disrespect by the manager and the wait staff to be completely turned away from this restaurant. If you want to be disrespected, make a reservation for this place. I suggest you go anywhere else. It’s funny because my fiancé and I wee absolutely sober prior to this dinner. Such a disappointment.

One amazing! Love happy hour prices and the bar staff! The happy hour positions are really large and one will fill you up! Drink prices are great for the area. I would recommend the steak salad on the happy hour menu with a Cosmo! It’s only about a 5 minute walk from the north DuPont exit.

This was my first visit to a Ruth Chris restaurant. The restaurant is located in the Dupont Circle area, situated amongst numerous other dining establishments. We went on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and immediately were able to be seated at a table. Our servers were very attentive to our needs refilling drinks(soda) before the first one was empty. The menu is predominantly a la carte but they do offer a traditional menu offering a salad, entrée, side and dessert. My wife and I each ordered the ribeye. Mine was the perfect melt in your mouth cut of meat. My wifes was thicker and I didn’t think it was even remotely as flavorful as mine. Surprising to see two of the same steaks having such completely different tastes The salad & mashed potatoes were typical of what you expect in a restaurant. The warm loaf of bread with the salad was accompanied by a very creamy tasty butter. Expect to pay $ 50 — $ 70 per person for your complete meal. For my dinner on this experience, I say worth it. My wife was happy with her steak but I would have been dissapointed with her dinner.

While on vacation in DC we decided to have a steak. It was the worst service I’ve ever experienced at a Ruth Chris. And I’ve been to one in LA, SF, and Walnut Creek, CA. It’s like the waiter was mad at the world. I’m not saying this just because of our experience but also how rude he was to the couple seated next to our table as well. I am surprised the couple did not say anything. I wanted to complain to a manager but my boyfriend reminded me that we all have our bad days. Anyway my boyfriend and I went there for a late lunch/early dinner. We both ordered the Rib-Eye. The steak was ok. Nothing to write about. On a positive note, the hostess’ at the front were very friendly and get a 10⁄10!

I went here with my wife to celebrate a special occasion and found the service to be terrible compared to other restaurants in this chain. After informing the waiter that my wife cannot have cheese or dairy he recommended Broccoli Au Gratin as an appetizer. Then, they mixed up our steaks, so she got the steak with butter and mine was plain. I understand the above complaints relate to a special request so ordinarily I would be willing to look past them. However, in addition to the above, the waiter was inattentive and joyless. He seemed pissed off for no reason and took every opportunity to let us know. By the way, the restaurant was mostly empty. A year later we went to the Ruth’s Chris downtown and had a wonderful experience. Avoid the Connecticut avenue location at all costs. In my opinion, it is not worth your hard earned money.

Great food chefs are awesome for flavorful steaks n seafood, but the service was horrible and it wasn’t busy at 6:00 pm. We waited at least 30 min for our drinks asked for lemon for water never got it. Seemed like waiter was too busy with a larger group we also waited to have anyone to fill our empty water glass and after 3 hours with dinner we had to ask for our check and had to send check back he got it wrong as we requested upon ordering to break it down But as usual great food!

We had a great time with friends at this steakhouse. Most people in our party ordered variants of the Classic meals, a reasonable priced combination of a starter, main entrée, personal side, and dessert. Normally the menu is a la carte, so the(relative) price break was a plus. By no means am I saying that the prices are low, but we enjoyed our meals and feel the cost was acceptable for a special occasion. I had a filet, exactly cooked to my requested medium rare. A very good steak. No complaints here. I chose a Caesar salad for my starter. Good, but not spectacular. Side chosen was mashed potatoes. Acceptable, but not great. Note: Personal sides are big enough to share, so one person may order just a steak while their dining partner signs up for the Classic meal. That yields more than enough food for two. I’m not a dessert guy so it’s hard for me to judge. Everyone seemed to enjoy dessert. Service was top notch. The waiter always seemed to appear at the correct moments. Very professional and courteous. If in DC and steak was wanted by friends or family, then I’d have no qualms about making another visit.

Hands down great happy hour from 4 to 7! I could have went everyday if possible but I was lucky to go 2 times in my stay. First visit I went with the crab sandwich with zucchini fries. Large serving but the crab is not a hot crab cake it is a chilled crab salad… still delicious. Second visit I tried the steak salad and the spicy lobster. Both selections was simply great, I enjoyed every bite. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful would absolutely return without a doubt.

My second time at Ruth’s Chris, but my first time to this location. Still the most delicious meal I’ve had. I came here during Restaurant Week with my parents. I ordered the steakhouse salad, mixed grill entrée, side of mashed potatoes, and cheesecake for dessert. All of that was $ 35. Frigin amazing! The steakhouse salad was very tasty. The mixed grill included a 4 oz fillet, stuffed chicken, and a lump crab cake. I’m allergic to crab, and unfortunately they wouldn’t let me substitute anything else. Fortunately my dad ordered a veal chop(not included in Restaurant Week), so he was able to enjoy it. My mom had it as well & she said it was mouth watering. The fillet and chicken were unbelievable. Two of my favorite dishes & they nailed it once again! The fillet was cooked to perfection & it was super moist. The chicken was also incredible. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The mashed potatoes were pretty good as well. I took the cheesecake home, and ate it a few days later. Still very delicious. Whatever cream base they have for the fruit was absolutely amazing. Overall I’m a huge fan of this place, and I’ll definitely come back again.

I’ve dined here several times and have never been disappointed. This review is specifically for restaurant week though. It’s a 3 course meal for $ 35, the caesar salad was good but the caesar dressing was a little lacking in flavor. I ordered the mixed grill which came with a small but delicious crab cake, a moist flavorful chicken, and a 4 oz tender filet. Finished off by a cheesecake and fruit medley, which was good but too heavy for me. My husband didn’t care for the restaurant week menu and instead ordered the cowboy ribeye, this is a bone in ribeye that is full of flavor but it does have a good amount of marble fat which is to be expected. Once again, Ruth’s Chris doesn’t disappoint in delivering a delicious meal!

This place may be a chain but do not let that fool you — my experience here was great! We needed to make a last minute dinner reservation and our options were pretty slim on a Saturday night. Fortunately we ended up here, and I’ll definitely be back. Our waiter was funny and kind, and the ambiance was fancy but not overly stuffy. I had the American mule cocktail, delicious bread, onion rings, a fruit/nuts/mixed salad, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, filet mignon, and chocolate raspberry cheesecake for dessert. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and was the optimal serving size for me. The sides(creamed spinach and mashed potatoes) were sizeable portions and were melt-in-your-mouth good. And normally I’m not a big salad fan but I gobbled it up, the blue cheese and fruit combo was a great pairing. On top of that, for my birthday they gave me a complimentary scoop of ice cream with a pretty drizzle message, which was really a nice touch. Needless to say it was all delicious, and we were all so full we had copious leftovers. Their to-go bags are super fancy, by the way.

Christmas dinner was wonderful! The atmosphere was festive. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was a little slow. The only negative is that the Christmas specials advertised online were not available. We would definitely do holiday dinner here again.

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary. It was my first experience at a Ruth Chris and I really enjoyed it. This location is really beautiful, historic-looking(we found out it is not that old), and romantic. Service was impeccable; bread and water brought to our table right away, a knowledgeable and not-pushy server, and good space in between appetizers and main courses. I had the petit filet, medium rare(per the server’s recommendation) which was amazing. We shared a special appetizer, smoked salmon with crème fraîche and flatbread crisps. Reminiscent of a bagel with lox, which I love. We also shared the Au gratin potatoes and a chopped salad, both plentiful. Although we were very full, we shared the chocolate sin cake for dessert, which was like pure fudge and very rich, but we finished it. –1 star for the price. Not sure $ 50 for a steak is necessary without any sides, but I’m no expert. Will only return for very special occasions.
