Great Happy hour spot. Good food, good service. Go here with friends, coworkers or alone to watch the game.

Happy hour is where it’s at! It’s a great neighborhood restaurant and I love the margaritas. I got some fajitas once and they were awesome. I also love the chips and queso dip!

San Antonio’s is my spot on the weekday after a long day at work. Their happy hour(HH) is super affordable and you always find someone there to chat with. A lot of regulars go here so often times you see the same folks each time you go. A plus for me is that the staff is always attentive and engaging with their guests and service is always prompt! I’ve had the privilege to be served by either Juan or Yancy most of the times. They already know what i want to drink — not sure how they always keep it straight with everyone — or maybe i just go too much! Some of my favorites is the tacos(there are 2 kinds on the menu and each is very good), the carnitas(it is a chopped meat instead of shredded style like I was use to before), seafood paella(ask for a bit of spice to heighten the dish — very tasty!), nachos(chicken or beef — this is also on the HH menu but no guac during HH unless ordered separately), and last but not least their mango and strawberry mixed mega margaritas. If you don’t like crowds, you may as well skip the HH on Fridays because it’s always booming! Saturdays as well, but not as bad. Today is Sunday, so i really should have waited to write this review because im going to check out their Brunch in a few minutes — but i hear good things about it all the time!

Not a good night. It’s one thing to not be able to accommodate my family in the happy hour area. It’s another thing to be a jerk about it. The manager/host was just a curmudgeon. Then to add insult to injury, the margaritas were watery. And finally in the women’s room, only one sink was working and someone has vomited in the other. Really? I loved this place. Now, not so much.

Great Mexican place to go on 12th St in Brookland. The food is good as are the margaritas. If you’re coming for drinks make sure to get there during happy hour as they have great specials. But you need to be SEATEDINTHEBARAREA in order to get those specials, so be aware of that because the bar area can fill up really fast. I didn’t know that the first time I went and had to sit in the regular seats only to discover that the happy hour specials did not extend to there. Needless to say, my bill was a bit higher than expected. I particularly recommend the chicken nachos for an appetizer. Delicious! Last time I was there the service was a bit slow and confused. Think it might have been a guy in training, because usually they’re pretty good with service. Also, it was happy hour on a Friday and so it was PACKED…

Great happy hour with strong margaritas! We ordered the quesadilla and shrimp/calamari apps, which were not the best I ever had, but definitely decent. When I return, I will order a full entrée. Loved the ambiance, local feel, and authenticity! I’ll definitely be back.

Tonight I had the seafood stew. Very delicious! I come here every once in awhile. Tonight’s visit is courtesy of the Washington Team’s preseason opener. #HTTR. Service was prompt and they were willing to change the screens to our game. I’ll be back for margaritas once I am off this whole30 plan.

My sangria was pretty good and a great size. The service was decent, the food was good. I got the veggie fajitas and they were sizzling quite a while in my face. :) No biggie. No one rolled their eyes back in pleasurable consumption at my table. I’d come back again. The bathroom looked like there was a small party going on inside that involved dressing other people in toilet paper because it was all over the floor. The toilets and sinks were clean as far as I can tell, they just need someone to do bathroom checks every now and again apparently. It was great they had a parking lot albeit small.

Every meal I’ve had at San Antonio Bar and Grill has been a fantastic one. When I go there for dinner with friends, the food is fresh and tasty and the drinks are huge and copious. When I go there for Sunday brunch and am lucky enough to be served by the amazing Leslie, I know I’m in for a treat. The other day I mentioned to her that I was interested in possibly doing the Bottomless mimosas, because those mimosas are pretty darn tasty and strong at San Antonio. They’re normally $ 3, but as soon as you taste one, you will realize you want to have five more. Leslie had me covered. She knew I was going to order the Bottomless even before I did! With a smile, she brought me more mimosas even before I asked for them. We were quickly approaching the 3 pm cutoff time, and she kept bringing drinks, unbidden, right until 3 — and she must have put in another order exactly at 3 because a few minutes later a server appeared with another one! SOMANYMIMOSAS. It was glorious!!! Also I ordered the french toast, which was shockingly good. In conclusion, San Antonio is one of the gems of Brookland, and Leslie is one of the gems of San Antonio. I can’t wait to go back.

Oh San Antonio Bar & Grill… how I love your happy hour. This place is unpretentious; people come here to get drunk and eat at a really good price. There’s a small section to park right next to the restaurant, but if that’s full, finding on street parking has never been an issue. When you walk in, there’s a host stand, but there’s very rarely a host there. Not that it’s necessary, happy hour is only at the bar area and even when it seems busy, there always seems to be just enough seating for everyone. They have bar seating and high top tables, but there is significantly better service if you sit at the bar. I always order a coronarita. It’s not on the happy hour menu, but they’re $ 7.50 and they’re a decent size. My fiancé and I always share an order of beef nachos and a steak quesadilla, which is more than enough to satisfy us. Our bill is around $ 35 after tip if we have 2 coronaritas, along with the order of nachos and a quesadilla. My only complaint is that there is no guacamole on the nachos. That would make the dish significantly better, but that’s a small complaint considering that the portion size is huge for a $ 6 dish.

Fun and lively restaurant in Crystal City Shops. The food was delicious, the price was decent, and the mojito was wonderful! We were tired and sore and ready for bed, but we left delightfully full and in much better moods. If you enjoy Tex-Mex, then you will enjoy this place!

Visited the San Antonio Grill on the enthusiastic recommendation of a friend. It was unusual for a bar to have only Stella Artois on tap. The food was wonderful pan Hispanic, I ordered a Lomo Saltado ala PeruDiana, sirloin tips sauteed with onions and jalapenos along withRoma like tomato halves serbed on a bed of French fiesta with rice on the side. My friend ordered chicken enchiladas, Both plates were generous portions. The meals appeared to be cooked from scratch, but this meant waiting a half hour for the order to be served during a dead portion of the lunch service. Service at the bar was slow but solicitors and friendly. I would recommend the San Antonio Grill but not if you wanted a quick or cheap meal.

Really great atmosphere! Good for drinks and happy hours. Great solid Mexican food. Sante fe salad was a great healthier option.

One of my favorite happy hour spots! Everyday 3pm — 7pm!!! And the buffalo wings are so good. Good atmosphere and great service. I don’t know about the menu. I only go for the margaritas and wings. lol

I heard this was a good place. The margaritas are great(I had the mango ones). The service however is awful. My waitress was horrible. She clearly didn’t want to serve us. The pepper steak was disgusting. How do you ruin steak?! But the shredded steak with rice and plantains were really good.

Just had a very disappointing experience at San Antonio Bar & Grill! In their defense most of my large party were satisfied. The calamari was maybe the worst I have had at a restaurant and my steak was burnt and tasted like a piece of peppery charcoal. They took those uneaten items off but with a $ 200+ tab after those items were removed they didn’t seem very concerned about changing my experience… A free margarita may have helped me to ignore my stomach grumbling!

Idk what I would do without Unilocal!I just recently relocated to DC from Texas and have been on a hunt to find good mexican food. I usually have to create my own dish at other places I’ve visited so far. This place is definitely a little piece of home to me. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Asado Puertoriqueno. It was sooo good. We came after happy hour ended, but still enjoyed the famous margaritas. Service was great. I will definitely be returning.

I have been to the building that houses San Antonio when it was, the Brazillian Steak House(Great, but before it’s time, would work great now), the Long Island Restaurant(name?) and many times to San Antonio itself. The past couple of times I went to SA, I experienced stomach cramps and the runs so bad I could not work the next day. This after having a burrito(since it is my favorite dish from there). The food is great coming in but horrible coming out. My dining companion said the same thing, this after he ordered a fajita. What do they do in the kitchen that leaves the patrons sick and in pain? Waste of money. Kind of degrades the great margaritas, since you literally pay for them the next day, all day… San Antonio, do better…

Came here last night for dinner with a friend. She had told me good things about the happy hour, but we were too late for that. We were greeted and seating instantly. It wasn’t the most modern restaurant(a little run down looking actually) but nothing that warrants a real complaint. As soon as we sat down we got a basket of hot chips and a small bowl of tasty salsa. We ordered peach and strawberry mega margaritas. When they say mega, ohhhh dang they mean mega. Even without happy hour prices, they were reasonable for the amount of boozy slush we got. I think the peach was better but the strawberry tasted stronger. We also split the«combo» fajitas(chicken and beef) which came out sizzling hot with the normal lettuce, guac, pico de gallo, and sour cream, but also a side of rice and black beans. Maybe we were really hungry and feeling buzzed, but that was the best Mexican style food I’ve had in a long time! I would definitely come back for fajitas, but would like to try their other options. The waitress and bus boys were friendly and efficient. And a waiter even offered us more chips while we were sitting there filling out our Valentine’s Day card after paying the check. Great experience.
