I really shouldn’t be writing this review. Seriously. This place is so good, I’m not sure I want you all to know about it. Because giving this place a glowing review will get the word about their amazing selection, lower-than-dirt prices, and incredibly friendly and helpful staff out there. Next thing you know, everyone will be shopping there, which, of course, means I won’t be able to snag the awesome clothes that I like from them. Granted, for all the positives this place has(and trust me, what I said above doesn’t even scratch the surface), it is rather small. Also, like most thrift and second-hand stores, the selection is carefully curated, but the caveat is that your selections are going to be limited by the stock. Apart from these two minor issues, the place is an absolute must. I am le highly recommend.

This is one of those little gems that you find, but you want to be selfish and keep it to yourself. I made the trek over to Bartered Threads after a friend told me that he found a cool t-shirt. I decided to go and check it our for myself. The shop itself is very cute. It’s not particularly large, but the shop owner has done her best to maximize the small space. The service was excellent! I was promptly greeted and given an overview of the business. I believe the woman working inside was also the owner, she was pleasant and helpful without being overwhelming. While I did not walk out of there with a unique find, I will certainly be making a visit to the shop again.

Since Bartered Threads is in the same block as San Antonio Grill in Brookland, we stopped by just before 7pm one weekend evening after an early supper. Since items are donated, the prices are lower than consignment and I challenge anyone to leave the store without finding something they like. We got a tie, a coat and some china all for less than $ 30 as there was a 20% off discount sale going on. There are lots of shoes and clothes that have been handpicked for sale apparently from donated drop-offs(and presumably from people cleaning out their closets and not wanting to fill up landfill!). While it’s not like Goodwill as it’s a for-profit, they do apparently donate what they don’t sell to local charity and to needy families. And the staffperson was super friendly and helpful. Wheelchair accessible(narrow doorway), including the changing area(which is a curtained off corner). No bathroom available as best i could see. I’ll be back and glad I don’t have to drag myself over to Secondi in Dupont Circle to satisfy my frugalista clothing shopping urges!

This is a nice little thrift shop with the friendliest service ever. The selection is small because the space is small – about the size of a living room – but the prices are reasonable and the clothing is in good condition. I wish they had a bigger selection of jewelry and shoes(some of my favorite items to pick up in thrift stores), but I would definitely come back to take another look around.

I found amazing gently used items at Bartered Threads. The prices were great considering the great quality of the clothes. The customer service was very warm and inviting. I’ll definitely shop here again and again and again!

I hate shopping 2nd hand stores because I have low patience. I find no joy in sifting through a bunch of junk to find nice stuff. That’s exactly why I fell in love at Bartered Threads. Everything is so well merchandised in this shop!!! The clothes are sized, neat, clean and fashionable! I have found several key pieces here! Definitely stop by and check it out for yourself! It’s my new«go to» spot when I want an inexpensive great find!!!

Bartered threads is one of the BEST consignment/thrift boutiques in the DMV. You are sure to leave with a great buy every time you visit. The store is chic and the customer service always goes above and beyond the norm. Stop by today! You won’t be disappointed.

I love this place. The hospitality, the layout, and the friendliness invites you to come back for more and more. Anytime I leave bartered threads, I marvel at the wonderful time I had talking to the ladies, trying on clothes, and finding truly wonderful pieces for a bargain. The owner is an amazingly beautiful, inspiring woman, who after years of federal government service opened this family-owned business where her mother, daughter, and sister can be found helping guests, offering advice, and laying out clothes. I am so glad this gem is in the neighborhood. Some of the pieces I have found included a genuine lambskin leather blazer sold for $ 12! A tweed skirt suit for about $ 22, a silk blouse, some slammin’ tommy hillfiger sandals, and two cute blazers. It is also very easy and no hassle to donate clothes when yoi are switching seasons and cleaning out your closet. I love bartered threads for the atmosphere and for the low price point. You can’t beat it.

Tameka and Tonia owners of this establishment are very nice ladies! They have nice pieces lightly used and a few new. Everytime I visit I find something nice. This spot is very inviting and enlighting. I have purchased a couple of pieces. If you are looking for lightly used like new pieces!
