I don’t understand the negative reviews at all. I just got back from Mr. Sauro’s shop, where he did two suits for me. He’s the nicest guy, both on the phone and in person, and his tailoring is perfect. He isn’t at all cheap, but he tells you that up front. And you can’t expect a bargain when you’re going to a guy that has been a tailor for over 40 years. I highly recommend him.

I don’t understand the negative reviews. Joe Sauro has always been kind and friendly — a real gentleman of the old school. He’s a bit expensive, but his work is worth it. Your suit will fit like a glove after you take it to him.

Had some work done to a suit here a while back, it was done very well and rather quickly.

Just awful. I had three pairs of pants done and consulted with him on a jacket. He was quite hostile for no apparent reason about tailoring the jacket. I did my best to appease him and gave up on having the jacket tailored. Then we began on the pants. The mark of a good tailor is one that make sure to include a frame of reference on Both pant legs. Mr. Sauro did not do this. Instead of pinning the pants, he just made a long and uneven chalk line(which lead to the possibility that the cuff would diverge up to an inch from its intended place) on just one leg. I should have bailed at this point, but I didn’t. When I came to pick up my pants, he was equally as surly and made me wait to pin up another patron he had not started with. He did not afford me the opportunity to try on my pants — and with good reason, it appears. My pants came back with uneven legs and each pair had a different length. He ruined one pair — unless I suddenly decide that I like the flood look. The cuffs barely reach my shoes. I wanted a full break(almost touching the floor). It took a week, cost almost $ 60 for three pairs of pants(JUSTCUFFS???) and best of all, it looks like he slept in my pants. They were all disheveled, unironed, and had clearly not been hung up but rather left in a heap somewhere. He told me he’s going to semi-retire soon: he’s even half-assing that.

This is the president’s tailor, or at least he’s a tailor with a bunch of president’s signatures all over his shop. I came to Sauro to get a dress shortened and he did a great job. The seam is very well done and he re-did the crinoline perfectly. He also was able to do it in 4 days, which I appreciated! The downside: this guy is expensive! It was $ 70 to cut a couple of inches off of a dress. I’ve had this done before for closer to $ 45-$ 50. Still, the workmanship and service were good enough that I’ll likely return.
