Sips makes awesome chai and espresso drinks. The price is higher than starbucks or other neighborhood coffee shops though… but if you are looking for non-starbucks, maybe u can try here.

There are many things to love about the Van Ness neighborhood but the quality of the dining establishments is definitely not one of them! Sips is the one exception. Their coffee is actually tasty(and not at all overroasted like their neighbor a few blocks down) and their breakfast sandwiches(especially the everything bagel with freshly-fried egg, cheese, and sausage) are TODIEFOR! My only complaint is that it is not open on Sunday.

The best part about Sips is that its not Starbucks, which means that you don’t have to wait in a long line just to order your drink and that you can usually get a table to sit at and relax. Its also nice to support the local economy and I think its fun that a dry cleaner named Zips opened a coffee shop called Sips. Clever.

A great addition to a neighborhood with too few hangouts. I was so excited when the«Sips» sign first went up, and then disappointed when it took so long to open. Probably a year, year and a half! The wait is over and while the narrow, shoebox of a space isn’t exactly cozy, I’m very glad it is there. The pastries look better than those sold at Starbucks though I have yet to try them.

This new little coffee stop is just terrific. They don’t over laden your espresso drinks with foam or milk(like other large conglomerates), and have a friendly atmosphere with good music in the background. They are co-located with the Zips Cleaners next door on Connecticut Ave NW, so if you drop your clothes off, try a coffee. 4418 Connecticut Ave NW
