One Star is an over-rating. Another substandard beverage from a substandard Starbucks. I left my drink protruding from the trash can as a sign of public protest. Avoid this store if you can.

This Starbucks frustrates me. While the Baristas craft the drinks really well, the lack of attention to detail grates my nerves. On EVERY. SINGLE. OCCASSION, when I order a Java Chip Frappaccino, they never top it off with the Mocha drizzle that is advertised on the pictures AND in the recipe! I visited the Vann Ness location today, and again, the barista handed me my drink without Mocha drizzle. I told her that I would like Mocha drizzle. She looked at me as if I had two heads. I figured out that it would have required her to go the back and get a new batch of Mocha as they didn’t have any out front. Wow… so much work. Anyway, I ended up getting my Mocha drizzle(please don’t judge me; it’s the best part!). If any Starbucks executives or regional managers are reading, I just want to say that I have experienced my Java Chip Frappaccino without Mocha drizzle at other locations as well. If the recipe calls for it, I shouldn’t have to explicitly request it.

All in all, this Starbucks is good for what it is. Unfortunately, if you want to do work here, be prepared to fight for one of the two locations where there is actually an outlet. Also, if you’re going anywhere close to closing time(which incidentally is very early considering it is next to two college campuses), don’t expect the door to be unlocked 5 minutes to the listed closing time. They see it fit to close and lock doors at 7:50 on Sundays and 8:50 other days. Clean bathrooms, clean floors, and quick baristas.

This Starbucks location is very convenient as a resident of the Van Ness neighborhood, and it’s stationed right by the metro. I’ve never experienced long lines here, but to be fair, I’ve only been on weekends, never during a busy weekday morning. I LOVE this location for so many reasons other than convenience. The outside seating area is larger than many other locations in the district, which is great for me since I love to bring my dog with me. This location also has the added visual appeal of the Van Ness ball art installation(what else should I call it?). Also, the sidewalk area on this side of Connecticut is ultra wide and spacious, situating the Starbucks further back from the street which is nice for noise and crowd control. The staff is always friendly, not surprising for a Starbucks. Of course, it goes without saying that the coffee is amazing. There’s a reason people are obsessed with Starbucks. It’s the best.

Yes it is extremely convenient; but more often that not, they have a crazy long line. And today they were training a new staff member during the morning rush. Also, they always run out of bagels! Not just my favorite bagel– ALL bagels. What’s up with that? Starbucks, I expected more from you.

The coffee is as good as everywhere else, located in a great area right next to van ness metro station, the facilities could be better, but like every place in DC, size is a problem. My low reviews go to the women who have served my coffee today, about 5 women working in the shop unable to not just be polite to others, but actually being rude, rolling their eyes at you, ignoring when you ask them for something. I don’t care how frustrated you are with life due to your job, you’re facing the client, you better pretend to at least be nice.

We can debate the wisdom of going to a Starbucks in the first place, but leaving that aside, if you want a coffee product you should schedule a great deal of time in your schedule if you plan to purchase your coffee product from this location. I had a few birthdays while waiting in line. I have only been there once however and cannot make a claim to the overall speed of the location.

I’ve been here a few times, and the service is always pretty slow. No matter whether I went at a peak or off-peak time, the baristas always take a long time to get everyone’s orders and then make them. They also seem to screw up people’s orders, or forget about them outright, with some frequency. It’s close to the Van Ness Metro stop, but convenience is about all it has going for it.

This is a subpar Starbucks. The space is much, much too small for what it needs to do. The lines are ridiculously long in the morning and they pack you in like sardines. It gets very uncomfortable particularly in the hot, sweaty summers. The line moves at an average, decent pace but not as fast as it could– probably because behind their counter they really only have room for one cashier. In good weather there is outdoor seating which is nice. However, there is not nearly enough seating in general and the cramped nature of the store itself makes sitting there very unpleasant even when it is not crowded. That said, I pop in here about once a month, and the coffee is always of normal Starbucks quality. I haven’t had any truly bad experiences with their employees and my drink order is always right. If you hit this place just wanting some coffee at a slow time, everything is great. However, if you want a Starbucks to linger at or for your early morning cravings, this one isn’t for you.

Standard Starbucks experience. Baristas are pretty friendly and relatively speedy in getting my order. It’s right near the Van Ness metro which is convenient for commuting. Not a ton of seating inside, so probably not ideal for those looking to do work.

By far the dirtiest Starbucks I have been to. I live in the neighborhood and wish that the management here would do something about the cleanliness because I love Starbucks.

This branch does not produce the standard cappuccino. It’s not easy. have to get the right mix of espresso, milk and foam. Too milky. The one at Dupont nails it every time. In all fairness, I have only been to this location twice.

Yikes. Why are the employees at this Starbucks so consistently incompetent? My drink orders get somehow messed up more often than not — this isn’t an exaggeration, and I always order fairly simple drinks. It takes eons for them to make your drink here relative to other Starbucks locations, whether or not it’s busy(it’s usually not). Also, trash bins are often unattended to and overflowing. There is outdoor seating and a nice study nook with a couple comfy chairs with nicely working wifi, but… be patient with your drink order. This isn’t the Starbucks to stop by when you’re in any kind of rush.

Three and a half stars. Convenient location right by the west Van Ness Metro exit. A caffeine boost and a Kind bar is the ideal way for me to have my evening break, though lots of wi-fi leechers hang out there. Tables outside are clean enough, though you wouldn’t be sitting there if you saw who was napping there around 8 pm closing time. Service tends to be decent. Had my receipt thrown away without asking once, and another time one of the guys swore up and down that someone else must have taken my order… even though I’d been standing at the pickup corner the entire time. Just admit you forgot to make mine.

Convenience and speed are the best aspects of this Starbucks. No matter what time of day there is a steady stream of customers, but I’ve never had to wait too long. Seating areas indoors are sometimes cluttered with newspapers and other garbage. Outdoor seating is pleasant, but limited. Great place to read the paper and enjoy a cup.

This is a great, little Starbucks near the University of D.C. It features free wi-fi and limited outdoor seating. But, it’s right in front of the Van Ness Metro Stop.

I love Starbucks… but I’ve gotta go 3 stars for this one. It always seems a touch unclean in here for some reason(maybe it’s the proximity to the metro??). In any case, the inside seating is not very inviting. My drinks have always been accurately made(I occasionally stop in here on the way home to walk with a drink). I’ll keep going of course, but I wish they’d make the atmosphere more inviting.

The baristas here are pretty unfriendly, my drink orders are wrong about 25% of the time, and yesterday, I saw a cockroach scuttle across the floor. I think I’ll make my coffee at home from now on.

I wrote a longer review for this — but it disappeared when I hit post because Unilocal went down for site maintenance… Sigh. I can’t remember the cleverness of my original review even though I wrote it 5 min ago… so here’s the abridged boring version: This is my neighborhood Starbucks and I enjoy coming here. The employees are friendly and they’ve never messed up my order. Their food is good — I’ve gotten a breakfast sandwich here once and a very tasty apricot/raspberry scone. I’ve also come here several times for a «dessert» run of a cinnamon dolce latte and a vanilla almond biscotti cookie. My only complaint is that they close at 8pm — I thought they all closed at 9? Guess not.

One of a few places that have outdoor tables in Cleveland park neighborhood. Very friendly service and great Starbucks drinks. Since starbucks had their training, most starbucks are required to make drinks until the customers get satisfied with their requests. but still, some starbucks don’t seem to get things right., especially ones in busy area like dupont, adams morgan but CP does. No matter what people say about Starbucks and even if I’m a big fan of independent, one of kind and local cafes, I like starbucks for their efforts and for making my drink right without making me feel bad about asking how to make or what to make. Some café make good espresso drinks or other drinks, but they seem to have hmm. some attitude. because. hmm. maybe they think they know better than you do? or they just don’t want to try something different from what they do usually… oh well. Anyways. Starbucks isn’t that bad as many think:)
