Really poor layout, really rude staff. Signage didn’t reflect what they had and they were pretty rude about it

I don’t know why I checked into a Starbucks, but I bet when I did I was probably thinking how happy I was that I was standing in line to get a cup of coffee. Not a great cup by any means, but there when you need it. I bet at the moment of this check in, I needed it. Thanks for being there guys.

Should be 0 star. Rude and slow service. Simply worst store I’ve been to. I will just skip it even though it’s just cross the street.

Very slow service and rude cashiers. 9⁄10 of the time they get my order wrong, even if its a simple coffee with steamed milk

I don’t know what the people leaving bad reviews are talking about. I have never had a bad wait there, and I have always been told up-front if they are out of a given ingredient. They are quick to make your beverage(if there is a line, they will take your order while you’re still in line so that it should be ready by the time you pay). As a GW student and someone who works across town, I go there frequently. I go before I get on the Metro to go to work, and I go late at night when I’m studying and it’s the only place with coffee open. I’m a fan.

If only Starbucks corporate headquarters knew how this location was run. Here’s some observations made in the two weeks that I frequented this location several times a day while my dad was in the ICU. They are very aware that they are the only option for the GWU Hospital go-ers for decent coffee. The employees are usually plentiful, but there’s only ever one or two people actually doing anything. They ridicule each other when they get the drinks wrong, or when they are slow on the cash register. It’s actually painful listening to some of the gendered things one of the employees said to a female co-worker. They communicate very poorly and allow customers to order drinks, wait for 10 minutes, and then ask, «what are you still waiting for?» when you reply, they say, «Oh yeah we don’t have x ingredient today. What do you want instead?» Nothing, because I was told to come down here and get non-dairy milk in decaf coffee. They ruin the already thin façade Starbucks has with their«La Boulange» brand by handing out the pastries still wrapped in their plastic – which have frighteningly late expiration dates, mine with a 5 month shelf life. Doesn’t accept gift cards. terrible staff Inconsistent drink quality/accuracy for a brand that’s so overwhelmingly calculated and predictable.

Mind numbingly slow service here. After several minutes in line, I asked for a Java chip frappucino, and got a «we don’t have any Java chips.» (Insert eye roll) Ok so I went with my default iced caramel macchiato, which was made incorrectly. So there I was, spending more time standing around. Yes it’s in a convenient location next to the metro, but make sure to plan about ten extra minutes in so you don’t lose your mind.

Closed to the public on Memorial Day. I love seeing a steady stream of hospital staff enjoying the cup of coffee I should be having. Thanks Starbucks!

Slowest service I’ve ever seen at a Starbucks. Also they give preferential treatment to certain customers. Avoid.

The place is nice and there is plenty of space. However they lack of the infrared reader for your iPhone app. a bummer !

ATTN: this is not a REAL Starbucks. It is very clear that Starbucks rewards members get refills on iced coffee. They refused to give me a refill, claiming they didn’t have to. RUDE. I would rather just go out of my way to find a «real» Starbucks, or you know, a Starbucks competitor like Saxby’s. BOOOO!

No problems, a quick in and out to grab a skinny vanilla latte before hiking my way back to the Kennedy Center. It wasn’t crowded, the service was fine, and my drink was hot! The cashier and barista were both friendly and got my order correct… What more could you want from Starbucks? Also: they still had a salted caramel cake pop, so my night was made!

Friendly staff! Being in a hospital it doesn’t have the comfy furniture of a normal Starbucks(they do try with the faux wood flooring), but since it is 24⁄7(Woot!) that seems a worthwhile trade-off, when most other branches in the area close at standard business hours. There are also no phone scanners here, so you can’t use your iPhone Starbucks app, but if you have the number stored somewhere you can still read off your digits and it will work for purchases(and count toward your star points).

So this Starbucks is literally inside of the GW Hospital and pretty much on top of the Foggy Bottom metro station. That said: great location. On the flip-side of the coin, however, is that it’s ALWAYS crowded. From GW students to hospital workers to patients to any worker in the area, there always seems to be quite a line inside(which is visible outside through the floor-to-ceiling windows). They do have a good system, however, to speed things up. A barista will take your order while waiting in line and give them all to the one behind the counter who will make them all rapid-fire. Theoretically, they are ready when you get up to the cash register and all you have to do is pay. I say theoretically because it usually works about half the time. But, c’mon, it’s Starbucks, it’s bound to be crowded. The back of the location also shares seating space with the hospital’s cafeteria. So there is no shortage of seating, but the wi-fi there is pretty spotty.

Good location and the staff members were nice to me, but definitely NOT a good recommendation that was provided. I was going to stick with my normal chai tea latte, but she suggested that I should flavor it. Ended up with a hazelnut chai tea latte — tasted like cough syrup and I immediately threw it away after 2 sips.

Perfect location — true, but That’s prettyuh all teh good there is to this place! They are usually always busya nd tend to mess up your drink. The guy who is the ‘manager’ is really rude, ordering his staff around and people taking your order echo his manner :( For some reason, it is NOT the usual inviting, happy, cozy starbucks I have become used to at most places! Another issue here is that their WiFi, though free, kept getting disconnected ever 10 minutes or so for some reason, And this wasnt just my computer, a few other people experienced the same. So all in all, not a great place to be!

The service during the day has been really poor. The cashier always has attitude and the drinks are usually made wrong. How can u mess up an ice coffee? Its been recent and really hope it changes!

This Starbucks is always really busy and the service is amaaaazingly slow. Also, the location of the sugars and milks isn’t convenient so I always feel like I am in someone’s way. There’s a lot of seating but it’s generally filled with patients or families of patients or doctors on break from seeing patients. On the up side, you can’t beat the location for those getting onto or out of the metro. It is right by the Foggy Bottom Metro stop(just inside the hospital).
