I’m not sure what the issue is at this Starbucks, but when I can’t avoid going there, I tend to be disappointed. It may be the small space that causes an unmanageable crowd, but honestly I think they are just terribly understaffed. Every single time I have stopped in for coffee it takes way to long and the interactions with staff and other patrons(who are justifiably perturbed) range from uncomfortable to downright negative.

Horrible customer service. I wasn’t gonna write a review about how bland our coffee was made but from the rude employees, to taking our orders all the way to the blatant fact that they don’t seem to enjoy serving customers was unforgivable. Don’t go here coz trust me, you’d rather walk the extra mile around the area for a better cup of coffee served with good customer service

Today I came in at 11:30 and there was no line! And it still took forever to get out! Why? Because despite there being four staff members, only one seemed to be working while the other three chit chatted. Seems to be a repetitive problem

Starbucks is Starbucks, right? Um, not actually true. This one had very poor service. While the drink I ordered was of standard quality(and since I was thirsty, tasted good), the service was awful. Employees meandered around and bumped into each other and didn’t engage the customers. There were 3 employees standing in front of me, but a 4th casually asked for my order from about 10 feet away where the drinks were served. After placing the order, no one at the counter wanted to ring me up or get the food part of the order. I hope the corporate office helps this location to get some retraining on service — it’s sorely needed.

Awful!!! The employees that worked here were rude, closed early, had no coffee, ovens were off and more. The female employees kids were there and told us it was open then the female employee told us that everyone was schedules were done incorrectly so they had to close early. Never had such bad service anywhere before.

Really bad costumer service. Got my drink wrong and refused to correct their mistake. I am never one to write poor reviews, but the baristas here DONOTCAREABOUTCUSTOMERSERVICE and it shows. Refrain from coming here and go north two blocks and support a local business that care about their customers. And quite frankly just much better coffee. It’s called M.E. Swings. Unfortunately, they are closed Sat-Sun. –Washington D.C. Tourist

I’m not a fan of Starbucks to begin with, but my experiences with this establishment pretty much ensure that unless I’m dying of thirst, I won’t be returning. After 3-star experiences in the past, I went in today with the expectation of getting a sub-par drink that would only redeem itself by being hot. I left with nothing. This place is usually packed whenever I go in(2:30ish), but today, there were only a few people ahead of me in line. As I placed my order I finally realized why: they had been taking a ton of orders, but only had one person making drinks. There were probably 15 people waiting ahead of me, and I figured one of the other four people up front would start helping the barista out. Of course this being a Starbucks, I was wrong. Ten minutes went by and maybe five drinks were served, while another 10 orders were placed. By this point it was an mosh pit in the waiting area, and I only had 5 minutes before I had to go to class. Finally the other workers started helping out the barista(by this point they had about 20 cups stacked up waiting to be filled). I see the cup with my name on it sitting in a line with other cups that the workers are ignoring. They continue making drinks for people that came in after me and several other customers. Finally I have to give up and just go to class, so I try to get one of the worker’s attention so I can cancel my order(even though it probably wouldn’t have made a difference), he obviously hears me because he smiles down at the drink that he’s making both times that I try to talk to him, but will walk away after each try. I gave up and left. Biggest waste of $ 3.80. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1 is because they generally hustle when it gets busy like that. I do realize that I changed verb tenses like, half way through this rant.

I was a little skeptical after looking at some of the reviews but I needed a place to meet some colleagues before a meeting across the street.(8:15 am or so). I arrived early and went to the bathroom; when I came out the line had suddenly tripled in size and was winding around inside. Oh dear… I got in line and it moved very quickly; my latte was just right(granted, it wasn’t a complicated order); there were plenty of places to sit; and the staff was genuinely friendly. What’s not to love?

This is the closest Starbucks to me, my first time back since there plumbing issue. The staff is friendly and I’ve never had a bad service here. It is busy during lunch hour, so I don’t mind taking a later lunch to avoid the rush.

This place seriously needs better customer service. For the past few days I went there, drinks took forever, even when there was only 3 customers. Also, the drinks were badly mixed. Please do your job properly. And don’t complain your tired.

Cramped little Starbucks with a line that often blocks the door. Two weeks ago, I ordered a light frappuccino, which means skim milk and no whipped cream. When it came out looking like a hot fudge sundae, I sent it back. After giving me a puzzled expression and exchanging whispers with a colleague, the woman behind the counter scraped off the whipped cream and handed it back to me. «This is the same drink. It’s supposed to be light.» «It’s light… I just put the whipped cream on by accident.» Yeah right, and I was born yesterday. However, not having any compelling proof to the contrary and being in a hurry, I took my not-light frappuccino and left. Last week, I again ordered a light frappuccino. Again, the hot fudge sundae came out and I sent it back. She scrapes off the whipped cream, hands it back, and after my protesting, feeds me the same line about how it’s light and the whipped cream was a mistake. LIAR.

Standard issue urban Starbucks, which means small, cramped, and busy. Nothing wrong with that.

This is a small Starbucks, so the lines(and the wait for your drink after you order) can get pretty intense. This isn’t one of the super-cozy Starbucks locations, with couches and whatnot — they have tables and chairs that line the back wall, but it’s definitely not one of the locations I’d recommend to order a drink and lounge around. Because of its proximity to several government buildings and GWU, it’s more of a grab-and-dash location. However, I will say that that baristas at this location are super-friendly and sweet, know the names of their regulars, and really do their best to speed things along even when the lines snake around the store.

There is ALWAYS a line here and it takes about 20 – 30 minutes on average to get there, order and leave with your food and/or beverage. The staff are not very attentive and they have on several occasions missed my order, leaving me waiting even longer. Unless you can convince the coffee gods to lend you some karma, I’d recommend going to one of the four other Starbucks in a half mile vicinity.

Welp, it’s starbucks. Overpriced coffee and free wi-fi, paired with lots of undergrads(it is on GW’s campus) and a not-terribly-efficient store layout, you’ve got your typical combination pros and cons here. It’s a convenient location for me, but I try not to go in during peak rush-hour times because the second a few people get in line, it creates chaos. The counter is about 3 feet from the front door entrance and thus, people are inclined to not move to the left and snake the line back around the seating area. The seating area, while small, does have an adequate supply of power outlets(for those abovementioned grad students), and windows for considerably day-dreaming/procrastination. My only complaint is that the store seemed to either(a) not want to turn on the heat or(b) the heat was broken and they weren’t saying anything about it. I had to cut my researching-online trip short because I started to loose feeling in my toes! Oh, and they close circa 3pm on Sundays — so if you want to have a lazy Sunday afternoon here, get it done before 3!

Love this Starbucks! Staff was actually very nice! I don’t remember the last time I was asked«how are you» while visiting Starbucks in Seattle! That totally does make a difference. It was a very pleasant surprise since I was not expecting that. I was so shocked that I actually decided to visit this place again during my brief visit to DC. My drinks were just like every other Starbucks drinks I have had — awesome!

I love this Starbucks! The staff is crazy cool. Maybe bc I look and act like these employees outside of suit and heels. hmmm dunno. But I will say this if you are good to them they are good to you! They are a lot of fun especially in the middle of the day after that 2pm rush. They just start making stuff and giving you samples. We crack jokes and speak on wuss good(all while keeping it professional of course) The J. Crew wearin’ Jack A$$ rude customers with the all about me attitude, rockin the crisp Tory Burch ballerina slippers gets no luv in this place. It’s the only location where your white collar position means nothing and I love it. Yes, me being a white collar with a ring around it. The fact that the mail man is treated with the same respect as the executive makes my day. So if you want to be treated good at this location say hello and smile before placing your order. Let the staff know they are real people and not just Starbucks workers. Only then will you get the Insider’sTreatment.
