Dr. Phillips has been my dentist since I was a student at AU and I take my children to him now. I have not had a better dentist anywhere. I have had routine checkups, fillings and crowns with him and he has done an excellent job. He is no nonsense and very practical and honest about options for your dental care. I agree with another reviewer that he does not try to sell things, but if you ask he will tell you all the options that are available. My kids were also happy with him. I also like the music played in his office. He accepts Cigna, which is not all that common these days.

I have been going to this office for over 10 years and I’ve never had a problem before. I would highly recommend Eileen for your dental hygienist. She has cleaned my teeth for as long as I have gone to the office. In addition to being friendly, helpful and doing a great job, they also have put a cap on one of my teeth and you couldn’t tell the difference. They accept many insurances, though I cant say what they take outside of Aetna, metlife and blue cross.

Dr. Philips came highly recommended by a good friend of mine, I set up an appointment with his office, went to a check-up and cleaning, and met the doctor. I am usually not a big fan of going to the dentist, but Dr. Philips was very patient, and explained all the treatment options to me without any pressure. I decided to go ahead with the treatment and was not disappointed. After three office visits I can say that Dr. Philips is very professional, very pleasant, and the treatments were painless and successful. I would happily recommend Dr. Philips and his office to my friends and family.

My friend’s mother recommended Dr. Philips, so I went to him for my semi-annual checkup shortly after moving to DC. The waiting room is small and pleasant and the receptionists are friendly and efficient. I’ve been to Dr. Philips twice and never had to wait for more than 10 minutes. I have pretty healthy teeth, so the hygienist does the routine cleaning and x-rays when necessary(once a year) and then I’m done. After the cleanings, Dr. Philips has come by to answer any questions and give his assessment of the X-rays. After my two visits, I can say that Dr. Philips is a no-nonsense dentist who doesn’t try to sell you unnecessary cosmetic procedures, however, he’s honest about laying out all the options if you do happen to be interested. For instance, I asked him about bleaching options and he described everything from high-end office procedures to prescribed home bleaching kits that take longer, but are effective and a lot cheaper. To recap: Dr. Philips will do the high-end non-insurance-covered cosmetic procedures if you want them, but is NOT the car-salesman dentist type. I can’t say much about how he does with more complex procedures, but I can vouch for him as very solid with the basics. I’ll definitely keep going back to him as long as I’m living here. The only reason for the four stars is office location(and I’d give a 4.5 if I could). Without a car, you have to take the red line to Tenleytown and then catch the bus that goes to American University’s Washington College of Law.
