Came here to grab a quick bite before a movie. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday night, which was PERFECT because we had a time limit. Food was delicious! I am a vegetarian so I got the classic grilled cheese but instead of bacon I got avocado. I ordered it with the tomato soup. It was VERYGOOD. Far above average, scrumptious, heavenly. Would eat again. My husband got the crab cake sandwich with fries, he said it was excellent. As good as the best he’s had. Perfect place for a chill, delicious, efficient dinner!

The food here is great, although the service is terrible. Our server had the worst attitude & seemed as if he genuinely resented every second of his existence while on the clock. He was rude, inattentive, uninterested and kept forgetting to bring things. He even had to take a soup off of our bill because he completely forgot it. We essentially had two servers because we kept having to ask another waitress for things, and she was helpful. But we shouldn’t have had to do that. We could even hear the table next to us complaining about the same server! When they complained to his face we saw him walking away cussing under his breath & complaining about it.

Their menu is awesome and pretty extensive for an All-American sports bar-type spot. From fresh salads to crab cakes to pork sliders, they have something for everyone. Other pluses? The prices were reasonable, the space was huge, and the service was extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend for a casual lunch date. We’ll be back!

Great atmosphere, friendly and casual. Rotating selection of beers. Happy hour specials on food and drink. The black and blue salad is great with tender beef cooked to order over salad.

Stoney’s is a great spot to grab a beer and watch a game. They serve food late and the bartenders are all cool as hell! Even the more ‘bar foody’ items were of high quality including: the wings, pizza and burgers! I always stop by Stoney’s every time I’m in town.

I am on a trip to DC and this restaurant happened to be around the corner, so I decided to go there since I was starving and it was 10 pm. I ended up ordering the Thunder grilled cheese. They turkey was a little bit dry, but with the other sauces it was hard to notice. The thunder wasn’t anything spectacular. The cheese wasn’t oozing like how I would like for it to be in a grilled cheese. However, the Mac and cheese was Amazing! They use white cheese instead of cheddar cheese. My boyfriend also got the Chesapeake grilled cheese sandwich that had krab which was so delicious. I wished I had gotten the Chesapeake instead of the thunder. I would definitely go back to get the Chesapeake!

Relaxing joint. Great for a light night drink. While I didn’t have any food it did look tasty.

Came to DC for the typical«family time» and went out to check out new restaurants that I haven’t been too. I ordered food Togo and when I got home, the portion of the buffalo Mac n cheese was extremely tiny. Where is the rest of my food? Pasta only costs $ 1 a pound! I paid $ 12 for ¼. When trying the Mac n cheese, the chicken was WWWAAAAYYYYYY over cooked, server cocky, but… Cornbread was AMAZING! They can do that right! Stay clear of their Mac n cheese and enjoy their cornbread.

We went for lunch. I suspect this is a definite after hours comfort food place. In the light of day, it was just ok. I was very excited to try the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was just ok. The tomato soup was creamed as opposed to the zesty tomato that it looked like in the photo, and since I can’t eat cream or milk, I just had the sandwich. It was ok, not wonderful. My companions enjoyed their very large sandwiches, and returned after hours, when they said it was much, much, better.

Decided to check this place out while looking for a local dive. Can you say identity crisis? Not sure how to categorize it. It’s not like the other Stoney’s at all. On the one hand the place is very nicely designed, sort of gives you a very modern European bistro feel, the staff wear simple black t shirts that read, «Boss of the sauce.» The place is bright and clean and has a long L-shaped chocolate marbled bar that seats about 50. The high white ceiling, bright lights and apple green accent walls give it a sort of cafeteria or lunch spot feel. There is nothing to break your line of sight and you can easily see from end to end. There is a nice separation between the bar and seating areas. So it looks more like a high end wine and foodie place but it isn’t at all. It’s a sandwich joint with pub grub. The most substantial items would be a steak salad and meatloaf. So I ordered wings, nachos and sliders. The sliders were absolutely on point with a nice flavorful pickle on top, as were the fries. The nachos had tasty pulled pork on them but were not warm and used a disappointing cold cheese sauce.(I thought this was odd since they also serve pizza, so could use shredded cheese and melt properly.) The wings were cooked throughout and came drenched in a mild buffalo sauce. The blue cheese dressing was chunky and excellent. Place was not cozy, not a dive, not a late night foodie spot nor romantic… but the food was ok and I would return if I wanted reliable sandwich fare. One thing I noticed was that although it was not crowded there was frequently a line at the unisex restrooms. The music was so low you had to strain to recognize what was playing. I asked if they could turn it up a little and the bartender walked off without a word. Check please!

Good food, loved the wings. But one of the staff was very rude, the rest were very nice and helpful. I guess he was having a bad day.

I have to say those buffalo wings were HOT! and so was the view from the window with all those beautiful Virginia women in their tights just working it for the customer as they pass the establishment! The staff was excellent, and so was the food and drinks. I really did love their wings there. Great experience hanging out with new peeps that I meet… and this place really change my perspective on the women in the state. Gorgeous and beautiful… Yes you are you beautiful and fine Virginia/Maryland woman reading this review. Eat your heart out baby!

Grabbed lunch at Stonneys during a seminar I had in DC. The place looked fairly nice, clean and comfortable. I didn’t get any of the signature sandwiches, which I now regret. I played it safe an got a reuben. It came with a side of potatoe salad. The reuben was pretty hefty and was well made. All in all it was a good sandwich, but a reuben is kinda hard to mess up. The potatoe salad… not the greatest. Not what I’m use to I didn’t even finish the it all. At the end I left satisfied. Great service! It was lunch time and they on the ball with the service. That alone got them any extra star. I would go back if I was in the area. I wouldn’t make a special trip. But then again I didn’t try their signature sandwiches.

Went for a dinner with some friends and to watch the redskins game. IT’s a bit bizarre for football watching, as they refused to put the sound of the game on and we listened to Rihanna the whole time in a mostly empty restaurant. a little weird and distracting. the food was delicious and fresh. My fiancé is a vegetarian, and was very happy with the buffalo«wings» and the fresh bluecheese that came with them. We did wish there was a veggie burger, so maybe something they could work on. I had a bowl of chili, which was delicious and served with homemade cornbread. I also had a ceasar salad which was good, and fresh but was under dressed. I should have ordered a side of dressing. As far a pubby, affordable food in this part of town though I say its a solid option.

Just be clear walking in that this is mostly a bar. Not a restaurant. That said the food is actually quite good compared to most bars. And while the place feels like a bar with multiple televisions tuned to ESPNMASN and Comcast sports. The place feels somewhat more welcoming. We ordered a steak and cheese sandwich to go along with a small side salad. The steak and cheese was pretty filling but the roll got soggy quick. The salad itself was OK though it was supposed to come with feta cheese and I couldn’t find a single crumble. The outer other order was fish and chips which was good but not great.

The Happy Hour at Stoney’s is awesome. The beers start at four dollars and the grilled cheese’s are 5 bucks! They are so delicious and you can’t beat that price. Trivia is fun, too!

This place exemplifies how bar food should be done. I tried their crab grilled cheese(swapped the sourdough for multigrain) and it was delicious. Very generous on the crab meat and very well executed. The fries were also on point. The service was very good for a large bar with just two bartenders. Beer selection was better than your average bar with a number of local brews. Also tried the chilli nachos, again, better than most bars. Ambiance was pretty chill. Solid four stars reaching for that fifth. Will definitely come again.

It’s next to my old office building and located on L a couple blocks from Foggy Bottom. The food, staff, and beer selection are kick ass. I’ve had the«works» flatbread(aka supreme pizza minus anchovies) and the fried chicken strips. Both are delicious especially the flatbread. You know my fondness for pizza and for a bar/lounge like Stoney’s, it’s worth the price. Also love the beer selection as they have the Lagunitas shutdown ale. The name lives up to it’s billing since you will be shutdown if you have too many of them(9.75% alcohol for you numbers people out there). I drank one and wore a huge grin on my face for the rest of the day. Bartenders are friendly and will take care of you. They have fun at work and you can tell they like what they do. I would too if I poured great beer and served delicious goodies. Check the place out, you won’t regret it!

This bar is awesome! I never knew it existed… But met up with friends here who heard about their awesome food and cool bartenders. I’m so glad I checked it out! Our bartender was awesome… He let us sample the beers before we bought them… And they had a great selection! It was hard to choose! They also have a ton of TVs so it was a great places to watch college basketball and the Nats. They have outside seating too and the pace wasn’t too crowded. The highlight of my visit was the«soon to be famous» Broc tenders. They aren’t on the menu so make sure you special request them. They are chicken tenders dipped in a secret sauce(which has Sriracha and honey). It’s amazing! You will not be disappointed! Check out this location of Stoney’s and you’ll be happy!

I arrived in DC last Sunday and wasn’t expecting to find much open within walking distance of my hotel. So, I opened up my trusty Unilocal app and found that Stoney’s, while not highly rated, was close. Diner food sounded good, so I made my way over. I wasn’t impressed initially as I stood in the front for several minutes before being acknowledged by anyone. But, when the man who turned out to be my server saw me, he immediately led me to a table and was fantastic from there on out. Quick with the order, the food, drink refills — even brought a full carafe of water, which I appreciated after being quite dehydrated from the plane — and quick with the check. He was polite and efficient throughout. So, how about the food? I went with the super grilled cheese, or deluxe grilled cheese, whatever it’s called. Very good! Thick bread, tons of cheese, tomato, bacon… I barely made a dent in the fries. The sandwich was filling enough. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t make a beeline to try this place again — it really is just a sports bar — but I’d definitely be happy to stop back in if I were in the neighborhood.
