I have a disability and it’s hard for me to walk and get around. Taco-ma does NOT have delivery, but the guy was nice enough to deliver the food to me although I was directly next door in the next building. Any time I’ve eaten at Taco-ma, I’ve always had the chicken quesadilla which has been really good, unfortunately this time it was not, but because the guy delivered it to me, I totally overlooked the dry tasting chicken that smelled raunchy. Thank you guys for being so kind!!!

I came in and was greeted by the(I assume owner?) of the café. The ingredients were fresh and there was plenty of meat in the two tacos. The shredded beef was a little salty but not by to much to make it unedible. I got the lunch special which came with beans and rice for 75 cent extra. The beans and rice were just right. It wasn’t dry like I had at other places and it wasn’t salty either. Over all a solid 4 and I will be back to check out the other options that they have on the menu.

Delicious vegetarian crispy tacos and generous burritos! Nice about our baby dropping food on the floor, too.

Authentic Mexican food in a Yucatecan style. As a Texan I’m naturally a Mexican food snob and this place is really great. I had the Chicken burrito with ranchero sauce and crema on top. It was enormous, literally 1.25lbs(yes I weighed it) and one of the best I’ve ever had. The distinct Yucatecan spices really shine through in everything, including the extremely tasty salsa that comes on the side. My wife’s tacos were pretty large and both the pork and beef were tasty(but the beef was a little over salted imo). Their tortillas are slightly crispy(maybe fried?) and really add to the tastiness of the tacos. We will definitely be coming back and are excited to have very solid Mexican place nearby.

I was forced to come back because my partner wanted to try it — I had no choice in the matter. This time around, I tried the shrimp tacos and chipotle salad instead. The salad was alright, the shrimp tacos were better. My partner got the chicken crispy tacos which she really liked along with the beans and rice. The tacos are much better. And burritos looked good. When I am dragged back here(which I am sure I will be, I’ll stick to tacos!)

Legit Mexican food! Ever since moving to DC my wife and I have lamented the lack of good mexican in DC. As a former Austin resident she is a bit of a mexican food snob. We both love this place. Crispy tacos are delicious and the standard order of two is plenty of food for a meal. Great chile relleno on special recently. Staff is friendly. Location is very accessible right next to the metro. Puzzled by some of the early reviews, this has quickly become one of our go to spots.

Very tasty food and even though the prices are a little steep, the portions are generous. I’ve tried the chicken burrito and all their taco options and my favorite is definitely the LA crispy style tacos. It’s great that Takoma has a great option for authentic Mexican food, can’t wait to come back for some margaritas once they get that liquor license!

Stopped by for an early lunch today and was blown away. Coming from San Diego, I’m pretty picky about my mexican food, but my chicken burrito was amazing. After reading some of the reviews I decided to ask for light beans in my burrito and added rice. Definitely a smart choice. The burrito was generously filled with shredded chicken, the same seasoned, rotisserie chicken that they sell whole. The chicken was the perfect combination of charred and crispy, but still juicy. It has a ton of flavor and goes really well with their homemade Habanero salsa. My burrito was huge, but I couldn’t help but finish the whole thing in one sitting. After talking with the manager I was told that they’re waiting on their liquor license before they open up their bar in the back. I can’t wait. Still a few kinks to work out being that it is a brand new spot, but it’s already 5 stars in my book. I am definitely coming back again. Next on my list are their tacos!

Great, homemade Mexican place. We were pleased with our order of a veggie burrito(fried strips of eggplant, plus we opted for refried beans, rice, guacamole) and pork tamales. They were out of quite a few things including burrito shells after we ordered, but there were so many other things to try we weren’t super upset about it. We were so happy to have a great, real-food place in town.

I just had a pair of really great tacos. This is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Also the lunch special is a really good deal.

Having dinner at recently opened TACO ma now. The organic Yucatan chicken w/yogurt sauce is extraordinary. Crispy, almost charred, but moist & bursting with flavor inside. Four people could make a meal on one $ 25 chicken & included sides. Habanero sauce is great w/the crispy yuca strips. The shrimp tacos have a wonderful citrus flavor. If the booze is good when the bar opens & the decorating is finished this goes to five stars for the combination of quality, fun & value.

I have been looking forward to trying TACO-ma since the first signs went up – I waited a month or so to let them work out the kinks, but unfortunately, had a disappointing burrito experience. I grew up in Arizona and know what a good burrito is – this it was not. And not for $ 14+. I ordered the steak burrito with beans and rice, and was overwhelmed by the amount of beans – and I was expecting regular whole beans, not refried beans. The burrito was huge(a plus) but didn’t have enough meat given the amount of beans. TACO-ma, please get your act together-I really want to come back and like you.

Extra star because they are new and I can understand how difficult it is to start a new business. However, the food is way too pricey. Adding guac to the salsa and chips shouldn’t cost an extra $ 5+/- It would be great to see some more veggie/vegan options as well.

I was SO excited for this place to open and really wanted to throw them my full support(I still do!) — but I can’t justify paying ~$ 15 – 20 per person for fast food that is just so-so. The steak burrito was very tasty(and huge), but with sauce it ran me $ 15. For that price, you should be at a fancy sit-down restaurant with exotic ingredients. Note to managers: $ 2 extra for a drizzle of sour cream and a few spoonfuls of sauce is not ok. Why not make the sauce complementary and instead charge extra for guacamole? That would be more reasonable. We also had fish and shrimp tacos which were tiny and underwhelming. And by the time we unwrapped our food(10 minutes after picking up) they were cold and soggy. For $ 4.75 each they really have to do better. And the yucca for some reason was dry and unappealing. On a bright note, the salsa was great. Really hoping they can adjust the menu to cater to what the neighborhood needs! There is a lot of demand for quick, affordable, good food that can be picked up on the way home from the metro… but this is not(yet) it.

Same as rest, way over priced for what you get… I would say 2X the cost that it should be. Got two tacos and a burrito. One taco was the size of s street taco, and was $ 4, the other a tad larger and $ 5. Meat inside was tasty, but the size wasn’t very good. The burrito was large, but was almost entirely beans, maybe 7 small pieces of pork, and it was $ 12. Was very excited about place, but left disappointed.

Went there the other night and got the shrimp taco and steak taco, they were over-priced, the tacos were cold and the shrimp and steak were over-cooked. My bf got the chicken burrito. It only had beans, chicken and very little cheese inside, and he said was rather dry and not very flavorful, and was $ 13(just for the burrito, no sides!). It also took way too long for our food to come out(about 20 min’s), and they weren’t really that busy.

Decent mexican, but ridiculous prices. We had chips/guac/salsa and shared 4 tacos: 1 crispy LA taco(delicious), 2 al pastor, and 1 carnitas. Everything was pretty tasty(the main exception being that the al pastor tasted like a watered down version), but overpriced by 50%. 4 tacos, chips/guac/salsa, and 2 cokes ran me $ 40. There are way better Mexican places within a 10 minute drive for much less money.

The main reason for the low rating is due to an overpriced menu. $ 7+ for a small 4-inch taco and $ 14+ for a burrito… no thank you.

Great addition to Takoma DC — I tried two tacos(one soft with steak, one crispy with pork) and split some chips with guac and salsa. All were very tasty and things I would order again. They just opened so are still working out some of the kinks — menus are photocopies, the bar isn’t open yet, and the drink selection is minimal(although they do have Mexican Coke and Sprite) — but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this place evolve! One star off because the prices are on the high side for what you get.
