The food here is always good. I get the half chicken half steak fajitas burrito. The place is family owned I think and it’s a lot of space inside. There’s an upstairs and downstairs. They always have a drink special menu. The service is ok, I walked in and no one greeted me but I chalk that to the language barrier. I come here usually on weekdays or nights so I’m not sure how the night life is but I assume jumpin considering its on Georgia ave.

If I could give this place a –5 I would, unfortunately the lowest rank is 1 which is too high for this place. I ordered a steak taco salad to go over the phone where I repeated the order twice to a lady before I got transferred to someone else. I finally got home and I quickly dived into my salad. The cucumber bits were bitter and the steak had a weird taste. Needless to say I should have tossed it or returned the salad but I ate some. Shortly after I felt really sick and threw away particularly the whole salad that was left. The next day I called the manager and she said no one else got sick and to call back in 10minutes. With no concern of how I felt or how they could fix the situation she just repeated to call back. I didn’t call back because of the disgust I felt both physically and emotionally. I just write this warning, DONTGOTOHAYDESS make it yourself, get a frozen entrée, even Mcdonalds would be better. Now that’s really saying something!

Overall: If you’re hungry and want something tasty, ditch this place and go across the street to Wapa Café. The food is much better, it’s more cozy and is truly«Latin.» Salsa: 0⁄5 The salsa was a runny pile of onions and tomato shavings with garlic and peppery undertones. This should have been a major warning sign, but it was ignored. If you’re going to have weak sauce, at least make it scoopable. If it’s going to be too spicy, make it into a dip. This was neither. I felt like it was canned tomato sauce with onions — just gross. Hobo Chili. Carnitas: 0⁄5 I want to crawl around the ground begging for water, because those carnitas were saltier than Chinese takeout. The beef was slapped awake and boiled to oblivion, and biting into it tasted like a spoonful of Top Ramen beef flavored powder. Seriously, it was enough salt to de-ice your driveway in January. The other warning sign was the rice, which tasted suspiciously like Uncle Ben’s or some kind of San Francisco treat. To be clear, it was thick white rice, definitely boiled in too much water, and was complete with canned mixed vegetables and that is no lie. I know those flavors because I ate them when I was a poor young boy. Atmosphere: 2⁄5 I get it that this is a neighborhood joint that seems to have won over the local affection. There was hip hop playing the entire time just above conversation level. The décor was unnoticeable or nonexistent. It did smell like food, which excited me as I walked in. Wait Staff: 3⁄5 No complaints. At no time did I feel even slightly ignored, and my salsa was refilled twice while I was there. I never found myself wondering where she was, even though the place was slow on a Wednesday night. She was good. Value: 1⁄5 $ 10.99 for two small, highly salted tacos de carnitas with just enough shreds of cheddar to get credit(what is this, a burger?), a side of unseasoned pinto beans and one scoop of very unimpressive rice. $ 3.50 for one Coke. That’s insane. I need not say more.

This place. Is awesome! The one and only reason I don’t give 5 stars to the place is because it’s difficult to ask anything unless you speak Spanish… And I don’t haha so I it was a little difficult with my diet. And it’s kinda hard to find parking. BUT other than that this place is great! The places itself is lovely, seriously. We were greeted quickly and nicely and sat immediately and got out drinks quick. I got the tilapia and it was seriously amazeballs. And I don’t even like that word. It was cooked perfectly and soft and moist inside served with a lemon that just melts the fish into butter(cooked without butter btw). Got with two sides of the mixed veg and that was even good. My date got steak fajitas a and they too were amazing. He says it was savory and the perfect texture. If you are in the neighborhood, come by. You won’t regret it. They do serve vegetarians options and alcohol/beer/mixed drinks.

Review for 3÷9÷2014 My sister and I decided to have aSunday lunch. Since we had a living social deal, we came to Haydee’s. The outside looks like a «hole-in– the– wall», but when we walked into the restaurant, we noticed that there was a lot going on. TV’s, a jukebox in the back, a bar lit with Christmas lights, painting all over, and wooden benches. Immediately, our server escorted us to our seats. She quickly brought us water and menus. We ordered the fiesta margarita, and it was strong. We are talking about«knock-you-on-your-butt» strong. For appetizers, I had a cheese pupusa and my sister ordered a pork and cheese pupusa. I loved the sauce that they came with. I HATED the salsa. Although I love onions, the salsa had way too much. I preferred to use the pupusa sauce with my chips. For lunch, I order the veggie enchiladas. The broccoli, carrots, and onions were cooked and seasoned perfectly in the enchiladas. I have never had enchiladas with broccoli, and Haydee’s has set a new standard for me and veggie enchiladas. The pinto beans and rice were okay nothing special. My sister order the combo quesadilla, and she LOVED them. She vowed to return for the quesadillas. The restroom is clean, but it deserves a star deducted. Patrons must put the used toilet paper in the trash instead of flushing it. That is disgusting to me. The trash can didn’t have a lid… The restaurant and food was a solid four star, but a star was deducted for the restroom. So why is this five stars? Glad you asked :-) The peach fiesta margarita was perfect. It was the perfect compliment to the food. In addition to the good margaritas, the server and bartender were sweethearts. The real star was the server’s son, who wasn’t older than 6. He sang every song that the bartender put on the jukebox. He was so lively. His energy was infectious. Truly, he made my day with his singing and dancing. I look forward to coming back and trying the fajitas and other menu items. Overall, Haydee’s is a restaurant that I would recommend trying. Don’t come in expecting anything… This place is the perfect place to start off an evening of fun.

The food here is great. It is well seasoned and in good portions. The chips seemed a bit stale but I don’t care about the chips when the food is that good. The one on Georgia ave. is never crowded. Staff is attentive. Check it out for some good, filling food.

This place is terrible. I don’t even know how they past health inspections. The chips are left out all day to sit under a light. They are stale. And gross. The salsa tasted off. Was not good at all. Like it also sat out all day. The food is not tasty at all. Under seasoned and a big goopy mess. Even the rice looked like it was from a steam bags you get in the frozen section at giant. Do not waste your time and money here. I also ended up getting really bad food poisoning. I came here with a living social deal. They saw that I had it and hyped up the price on each item. Beware!

The food here is pretty darned good! The staff, friendly. The Margarita(top of the line), was only so-so. I will go back for the food and probably order a Dos Equis!

Good Salvadorian food. We came on a weekend night once and there was a mariachi band playing as well. I prefer the fajitas… If you come during happy hour times there are beer specials and I think there was a margarita special as well. Big menu selection. Quiet.

For starters, getting here was pretty easy. I drove so I can’t speak to how metro rail or bus accessible it is. Parking wasn’t difficult, there is tons of metered parking on the street, but a few side streets and neighborhoods you could find parking on with little effort if you’re only going to be there for a little while. I almost missed the sign, so pay attention to the addresses when you look for it. Also note, they almost always have a groupon deal going so be sure to look for it. The décor inside always makes me laugh a little bit, but whatever I didn’t come here for ambiance I came for good food and that they do provide. I mean who cares what they store the chips and salsa in, or that the bar looks like Christmas. The downstairs area is small, but usually seating isn’t an issue. I think they have events upstairs often. Warning, do not get the table against the wall under the vent. Sometimes condensation falls directly from the vent on to the table in the summer months when the AC is on. The wait staff is friendly so is management. The steak fajitas were great and large portion size for a low price. I also got the shredded beef burrito, eh skip that and make it steak burrito next time. The chicken enchiladas were also good. I would return here. Didn’t visit the restroom.

The food at Haydee’s is good. The rice had especially good flavor, and however they did the guacamole it fit very well with my meal and I ate every bite for once.(I don’t generally like guacamole so rarely eat it unless it’s made fresh in front of me, which means I have no idea if this was fresh or not. It didn’t seem freshly made based on my very limited experience — too creamy, compared to the rare times I know it’s been freshly made — but it worked for me.) The entrees are chock full of ingredients and flavor, plus there’re a few types of hot sauce on each table with which to add kick if you’d like. The margarita I had was. .. a margarita; nothing particularly standout, although it was the«Cadillac Margarita». Haydee’s is a huge place — much bigger than I expected, with at least two floors and possibly a basement room as well. The space is filled with art from assorted(I think) Latin American cultures, and strategically placed colored lights provide additional character. The staff is friendly, and was efficient until the end, when our waitress disappeared for a while when we were ready to ask for the check. In general it’s a good place. I’d really like to see it when it’s lively, with more than just a couple tables on the main floor occupied.

I love Haydees! OK, so when you open the beautifully carves doors you too will discover why, I took off one star for ambiance it’s — uh… But let me tell you, when the food hits your mouth? An experience definitely worth repeating! That’s why I did, the next day — with my mother. Yes I did Unilocalers. After telling my mother of this place of unexpected provocative culinary delights, her taste buds were also aroused with curiosity. There was SHRIMP you say? And STEAK? In a sizzling fajita? And fresh veggies?(Well yeah Mom, there’s also a Tuesday’s down the street.) But for some reason this woman who had been exhausted all weekend the next evening suddenly leaped from her bed to eat at a restaurant she’d never even heard of before. It was back to the printer for another Groupon and a quick trip back down to Hadee’s. Upon our arrival it was, «Yes, my friend, my usual table by the bathroom(One of the only four available)! Just keep the home made nachos commin!!» Another customer put on some oldies, but goodies on the juke box, which we all sang along too(even my mother — who was this woman?) and like the night before we supped on well seasoned meats and downed well mixed drinks and cheap, but smooth wines. Dinner was well priced(even before the Groupon). My mom, a very picky eater even says she’ll be back and the both of us left all smiles. Thank you Hadee’s for the fun and the bonding — two nights in a row!

Omg this place makes the best pupusas! Their steak fajitas are well seasoned. Salsa is the real deal. No watery salsa here my friend. Tortillas are made from scratch. I could eat Haydees everyday for the rest of my life! The service is good and place is clean.

If your in the area and want good Salvadoran and Mexican fair this is a good place. Its prices are economical the beers can be a bit on the hey more than I usually pay but ok. I like the Fajitas and I really just order the garlic parmesean wings. I play in one of the bands on Fridays and I wouldnt have known about it unless we had a gigg. But pretty good atmosphere on Friday nights. The crowd can get rowdy as they allow local bands to play in the venue. Has a upstairs bar with good seating and a outside balcony that is upstairs for the smokers. All in all I would only go back if I had to play there again. But if in the area I might stop through for a beer or two. Pretty diverse crowds for the happy hour but at night its a spot for the live band followers of the city.

Service is good, drinks are cheap, my only problems is that their food isn’t good to me… I have tried their quesadillas and they are very bland and I had something else with shrimp and that wasn’t good either… I prob won’t eat there except the wings which are ok … i go there because its across the street from my house… aka the closest bar to my bedroom… but i try to eat before i go in…

An outpost of the original Haydee’s in Mt. Pleasant spread out over three floors(basement, main floor and interior balcony) with a small bar and festive décor. Good margarita’s and better than average Mexican/Salvadoran Cuisine. A nice addition to the Brightwood/Manor Park area, and certainly more accesible to the the average gringo than Serengeti across the street. They recently changed their license from restaurant to tavern with an entertainment endorsement for live music, so I’m not sure how that’s going to play out.
