Takoma Flats is great place to live. Lesther (property mgr) is really responsive. We had an extremely noisy neighbor and Lesther was very quick to address the issue… it was impressive. In addition, James (maintenance) is quite responsive and is good at his job… this has not always been the case here, but things are good now (written Mar, ’16).
You can’t always do much about the folks that live in your building, but a responsive mgmt staff is critical and this place has it.

Takoma flats is a great location to live in, very clean, and a Dog friendly environment, Any issues that I have encountered with my apartment the leasing manager responded immediately and would send over maintenance to fix any issues I had. They’re very friendly, And helpful. Loving my new place. Thank you

I’m not going to blow smoke up anyone’s orifices and say this is the greatest place to live. It’s been occasionally bumpy given a changeover of property managers, the assignment of someone who wasn’t entirely qualified as an on-​site property manager by the new management company, and a bit of a vacuum in management while the owners tried (unsuccessfully) to sell the property. But it’s also significantly cheaper for my half of the rent of a 2-​bedroom than I was paying for a 1-​bedroom in a more centrally located neighbor. The new property manager seems to be qualified to handle what can be a challenging set of circumstances. I can always find a parking spot in the neighborhood, and I’m a short walk to both Old Takoma and downtown Silver Spring.

I think what the last reviewer has said what is on everyone else’s minds. At least the minds of the tenants who don’t pay peanuts for their rent unlike some others who despite their discounted rates still live off the system and refuse to pay. Can’t wait for this lease to be up so we can leave this dump. Literally this place is like a big science experiment to see what the prolonged effects of the combination of raw sewage backup and mold topped with the constant smell of sewer gas has on a population of overcharged tenants.
