This place was bought by new owners in August. In the take over, the new owners made the menu easier to read, took on a fresh ingredients philosophy and expanded the payment options. The food is consistently the best. I don’t usually like jerk chicken outside the Caribbean but it is done well here

Let’s say you were wandering around DC. And you said to yourself — man, I would love some rubbery, bland chicken. But not just rubbery, bland chicken from any place. I want to find a place Make sure it’s going to take a really long time for me to wait in line. And I am hoping that someone could have an attitude when they are serving me. Then the Chicken Place is for you. Otherwise, I might suggest literally anywhere else.

I had high hopes because I tend to really love these style chicken joints. This was NOT it. Granted, it’s in a food court, so my expectations shouldn’t have been too terribly high. Alas… The service is terrible. The cashier is a mess, running around, ordering people around, etc. But it still takes forever to place an order — so she’s really no help. I went today and based on the menu board, expected to get a side of green beans and a side of veggies with my ¼ white. Think again — the only sides they weren’t out of were black beans, some soggy corn, and French fries(that would take another 4 minutes to make). A bunch of empty pans where food used to be. Everything looked very basic– like instant potatoes(what wasn’t scraped off), boiled corn from a can, canned black beans. A couple people ordered salads — it was literally a pile of iceberg lettuce with pulled chicken plopped on top. When I finally got my ¼ white with no sides(literally, I ended up with just a piece of chicken!), the lady said that they only had the green sauce. They were out of the white/cream sauce. They were also out of ice and ketchup– I honestly don’t know how that happens in a food court. Let’s be honest. It’s pre-cooked chicken– it really shouldn’t take 5 – 10 minutes to get a piece of chicken handed over the counter. The chicken was very blah– nothing remarkable at all. Boston Market has more flavorful chicken! It tasted remarkably like those pre-made rotisserie chickens you can get from the grocery store. In the word of an old Air Force buddy, «…it’ll form a terd». Given their lack of caring, it almost seems as if they know they’re closing, so just kinda gave up on life. If you’re starving to death and absolutely require live-saving nourishment, this might be ok. Otherwise, pass.

I’m placing two stars and that’s being generous. I came during lunch time to grab food. I ordered the special ¼ white with fries and a salad. First I asked for a drink and was informed they where out of one type of drink which is fine but that was just the start of things they did not have. After waiting only a short time to get my food I asked for dressing, ketchup, and white sauce(common at chicken places through out the city), however they where out of all those things. Really, condiments are essential to food. Once I set down I was completely unimpressed, chicken while tender lacked flavor and taste and on top of that there was no sauce to add to anything.

I wanted chicken. I wanted Peruvian chicken that I am accustom to. THISWASNOTIT! I should have know that it wasn’t going to be it when I saw the birds that were already cooked and WAITING in the warmer. The chicken was JUSTOK. The shin was limp and soft. I want CRISPY. I could taste a but of cinnamon or nutmeg flavoring — not what I was expecting. The main bummer for me? No sauces to go with the chicken!!! I have had chicken from here before and the sauce was what helped me take the chicken up a few notches. I should have asked about the sauce before I placed my order(when I didn’t see any). Sadly, I will not be coming back. I was not happy.

Hmm, somehow or another, it looks like I’m the first review in years! Lucky for them… I am a fan. This is a great place to just go grab a lunch. I go on Wednesdays, for the special, and the line is always long. You get ¼ grilled chicken, 2 sides, and a drink for $ 7(including tax). I agree that the sides will not«wow» you, but the chicken itself is good quality with a nice seasoning. It is very moist, even the breast. I like the white sauce that accompanies it. I especially like the fact that you can chose a bottled water as your drink, instead of being relegated to deadly sodas. Typically, I get the special with black beans and mixed veggies. The other other thing that I have gotten from here was the fish sandwich and it didn’t wow me. I have seen the buffalo wings and the chicken steak sandwich and they look okay. The fries are default.

Caught the Friday special for lunch, ¼ chicken mashed potatoes and Mac n Cheese for 6.75. Not bad, especially in DC. And idk what kind of green sauce they have me with the meal, but it is awesome.

If all you get is the chicken, it’s not bad but not great. Salty and little dried out, but I like salt so that’s not my problem with it. The sides are nasty. The corn and green beans taste like old canned veggies and the mashed potatoes taste like they came from a box. The rice and beans aren’t bad but they seem to be out of it regularly as I don’t come that often, but the last two times they ran out of rice and beans. I get that they probably don’t have a huge kitchen to work with, but come on, get better sides.

$ 8 – 9 for ¼ chicken, two sides, and a large soda IS a good deal in Downtown DC even though this place is located in a busy food court. I highly recommend it if you’re in the area for lunch.

If you’re as greedy as I am and like getting your moneys worth, head down to The Chicken Place Express for lunch! For $ 9.89 you can get a ½ white meat chicken, TWO sides, and a drink! What a freaking deal! The sides aren’t award winning but the chicken is absolutely delightful! Delicious rotisserie chicken with your choice of mash potatoes, macaroni & cheese, corn, rice, mixed veggies, or stringed beans. You will spend almost 20 $ at Nando’s for a meal like that! It doesn’t stop there though! Their steak/chicken & cheese sandwiches are freaking A – MAZING! Nice amount of steak/chicken, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and whatever you want to stuff your face with. The fries were hot and crispy just as I like them. They aren’t seasoned but you can add your own salt and pepper(which I prefer). The cheese steak is a little pricier at $ 10.21 but man it’s worth it!

The food isn’t good and is overpriced. I was expecting something similar to Boston Market and was very disappointed. The chicken was fine but was too expensive for what you get. The sides were really bad though. There weren’t many options(at peak lunch hour). I had the rice(which was cold and pretty flavorless) and the mashed potatotes(which clearly came out of a box and tasted terrible). To top it off, I ordered the lunch special because it was advertised as coming with a 20 oz coke product. They claimed not to have the right size cups and gave me a 12 oz fountain drink instead. When I pointed the add out to them and asked for a bottle(they have soda in bottles and a fountain) they refused to comply with their offer. If the food had been as good as Boston Market I wouldn’t have minded, but it isn’t close.

The food tastes really great but The price is high especially for chicken meal. I personally enjoy the yucca but only when it is hot and not cut into big pieces. The chicken is good but not for nealy $ 10.00. They get three stars because I’m biased to Latin American Foods and the Chicken does have a great flavor throughout and not just on the skin.

Good stuff! I went with my friend last week to grab some grub. He went for Quizno’s(IDIOT!) and when I sat down with my prize from Chix Place he was painfully disappointed with the goodness that was on my plate. UHHUH Good, quick, lunchtime service.

This is a recently opened place to eat at, Eat @ National Place. I was looking to try something different on my lunch break, so I gave it chance. On their site they say it, «is a Peruvian style rotisserie restaurant that brings the authentic and bold taste of „a la brasa“ style chicken, steaks, and sausages to the Washington DC Area. The Chicken Place Express focuses on bringing the great tastes of the slow cooked Peruvian „a la brasa“ style foods to main stream America.» I honestly feel that their description is a drastic exaggeration. Chicken Place just seems like a knock-off Boston Market(minus 1-star). I don’t know if BM also uses these ‘Peruvian’ flavors, but the chicken sure does taste the same. As for sides I got mac & cheese and green beans. The mac & cheese was good for be a processed product. The green beans however, were not to my liking. They weren’t seasoned very well nor cooked properly either(minus another star). Their prices were higher than what I wanted to pay for what I was getting; almost 9 bucks for a ¼ dark meal(minus another star). I wouldn’t EVER go out of way, nor suggest this place, unless I was looking to ‘Boston Market’; being that there is only one in DC…

I work by Metro Center, and yesterday heard from a friend that a Peruvian Style Chicken place had opened in the cafeteria of the Shops at Metro Center. As you can tell by my reviews, I love pollo ala brasa, so I had to check it out. I was coming from the gym… so I was starving, and honestly, the smell of the chicken hit me right when I entered the cafeteria. I walked up, and got to talking to the manager. Nice guy, told me they just opened, and have another branch in Falls Church. He gave me a nice sized sample of the chicken. Definitely would have eaten here anyways, but the sample sealed the deal. The chicken was delicious… good spice rub, nice crisp skin, and moist throughout. I was sold. They had a half chicken combo that was like 9.50, but I opted for an a la carte half chicken for 5.50, and a side of mashed potatoes for 2 bucks. The portion was good, chicken was great, but the potatoes were instant with instant gravy. Prolly my fault, should have ordered yucca or something else, no worries. Green sauce was spot on, and they included a sweet mayo that reminded me of the sauce at Crisp & Juicy. Overall, a great chicken… will have to try the other sides next time. Looks like they also serve gyros, and some steaks… but I will stick with the chicken. In terms of the DC area battle for chicken supremacy, I’d rate it a close third behind Super Pollo and El Pollo Rico.
