I see them at the Dupont farmer’s market. They’re usually doing steady business, and they run efficiently, tracking your order with names on post-its. Their oven is pretty respectable. What you get is something that tastes like it’s from a farmer’s market, nice and fresh. There’s usually a couple of esoteric options, often with mushrooms, but I just went for the basic cheese this time, which was plenty good. They also take credit cards as well as cash.

tasted this for the first time at the white house farmer’s market. very good customer service. My pizza was partially burned, and it could’ve used twice as much cheese on it… it was like cheese was a topping not a main component of the pizza. it was nothing special…

More like 4.5 stars. Red Zebra is a fixture at the weekly farmer’s right by my office and hence satisfies my weekly pizza fix. The ladies of Red Zebra are purveyors of great pizza and great service. It’s always fun to see them set up right before opening, as they arrive with their mobile wood-fired oven towed right behind their truck. I’ve also seen them source their ingredients(tomatoes, mushrooms, et al) from the other vendors at the market. So you can tell that what they use is fresh(or at least as fresh as most of the produce at the farmers market). They can get pretty busy and have quite a following(I’ve gotten an officemate hooked as well), so I usually try to grab an early lunch to avoid the line(which can get long during peak times). It takes about 5 minutes for your pizza to be ready, but at peak times, can take as long as 15 minutes(not including your wait in line to place your order). They have quite a variety of pizzas that vary per day, along with some standbys like spinach and mushroom as well as sausage. I usually go for the sausage and add mushrooms. They make their own crust which has great texture… just the right mix of chewiness along with their tomato sauce which has just the right amount of sweetness. Red Zebra and their pizza has at times been the highlight of a busy week/day for me(grab a pie and eat it at the park!). And I can’t wait till I can host an event/party and have it catered entirely by Red Zebra!

Always great service and fantastic pizza. Had the roasted zucchini pizza today and it was probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

Red Zebra is much more than your local farmer’s market pizzeria. The two head chefs, Susan and Carol, did an excellent job of catering our wedding of 90 guests in Gaithersburg, MD. Red Zebra has delicious food at affordable prices and is a viable alternative to standard caterers. For our wedding Red Zebra made, in addition to their trademark pizzas, fresh salads and yummy appetizers. They also offer unique drinks. Our guests were very pleased. Susan and Carol are responsible and dedicated to client satisfaction. We were nervous at first hiring what is essentially a sophisticated food truck for our wedding, but our outdoor seated dinner was one of the smoothest parts of the day. Throughout the process Red Zebra answered our questions, adjusted our contract as necessary, joined us for a walk through, and arrived ahead of schedule the day of. When using Red Zebra, guests can easily grab their food from the serving tables buffet style or have their appetizers and dinner passed(at an extra cost). If you are looking for a non-traditional dinner and high quality ingredients at affordable prices, Red Zebra could be your answer. Just keep in mind that this will require some extra work on your part. Red Zebra does not remove trash, for example, and is not a twenty person outfit like catering companies, so more proactive communication is required on the client’s part. Overall, a very positive experience.

I get their pizza every Thursday at the FreshFarm Farmer’s Market near the White House. Not only do I get it… I anticipate it throughout the week! It’s so good. I get the Italian sausage and always ask for extra sausage and they never charge me — even when I say I’ll pay for it. Everything about this pizza is great from the sauce, crust, cheese & sausage. GOODASITGETS!

3.5 stars. At Dupont Circle Farmers’ Market on Sundays, this place was a pleasant surprise. How do they set up a brick pizza oven under a tent? It’s a mystery. Regardless, the results are impressive. I had a sausage, sweet potato, egg pizza. Sounds strange but was quite delicious. They drizzle honey on it, too, which enhanced the slight sweetness. I’d like to try a more traditional pizza next time; and, as I go to the Dupont market every Sunday, that shouldn’t be hard to do. Here’s to next time!

Just saw and tried this for the first time today at the Dupont Circle farmers market. I’m super picky about good pizza and tend not like the large majority of DC’s pizza offerings. I have to say that this is one of the best pizzas that I’ve had in DC — ever. It did not take that long to finish one single serve pie. Love that they can bake right on the spot, either a full or half bake depending if you’ll eat it now or later. I will become a regular.

I am a fellow food vendor and pizza enthusiast so when I found out that The Red Zebra was going to be joining one of my markets I couldn’t wait to try their pizza. They did not disappoint! I think I’ve had almost every pizza these ladies offer and all of them were amazing. The flavor combinations are innovative and always delicious and the service is friendly. All of their ingredients are local and they are extremely picky about the products they use. As a fellow cook and food vendor, I have to say they are one of the best food vendors out there!

After perusing Eastern Market booths for waaaay to long beside my wife, I found the little food corner in front of a community center, and the Red Zebra wood-fired pizza oven trailer caught my nose. I don’t know if the oven trailer is the sole extension of Red Zebra or if it is attached to a restaurant, but I would go to that restaurant. My pizza was simple. A few squares of mozzarella, some pepperonis, and a few mushrooms scattered over a light red sauce. The real star was the dough though. A tad sweet and not so thick that it overshadowed the rest of the ingredients. This was a well thought through pizza and from wood-oven to spices in the sauce it just works. And it was only like a 15 minute wait.

The owners of this place are so cute! I was really attracted by their on-the-go oven that’s attached to the end of their truck so I wanted to try the pizza. They were out of the spinach pizza but after I told them I really wanted to that one of the owners/pizza maker lady went to her truck to get more recipe and decided to make it for me! They were just soo nice and sweet and even gave me a sample slice of this other meat pizza. Sadly, the pizza was a little too salty for my taste although extremely flavorful. When I got my spinach pizza, it smelled soooo good! But, when I took a bite it was kind of hard and once again REALLYSALTY. I loved the freshness of the pizza and the tomatoes and spinach on top, but it just wasn’t made the way I like I guess. I wish I enjoyed it more but it was really hard and just too salty.

My wife and I just had the mushroom pizza from the fun loving witty women at eastern market! Easily the best pizza! — mushrooms(freshest and most flavorful), on a delicious thin crust, fired to perfection in their portable Italian wood-fired oven! Safe to say the best pizza in town. Sorry 2 Amy’s and and others(which we still love) you now have some steep competition.

The Red Zebra is a new addition to Eastern Market. It’s a brick-oven pizza cart using fresh, local ingredients. For $ 8, I split a traditional mozzarella pizza with my friend. It was delicious. Mozzarella was fresh and creamy. The crust was perfect — crisp, chewy with cornmeal and char from the oven on the bottom. The two owners were super friendly and more than willing to chat with us while we waited for our pizza(maybe 4 minutes or so? Not long). Anyway, this is a great addition to the market that I am excited about.
