The Summerhouse

This is truly a hidden gem– in fact, I’m afraid to post it here, lest I find it crowded next time I visit.
This is a little brick structure on the Capitol Lawns, with seating and water fountains. It’s a great place to sit and relax if you’re exploring the area on foot, and it’s incredibly picturesque. I wished I had brought a book when I stumbled upon it today– it seems like the type of place you could sit and read in the shade. There’s even a window with a view of a small grotto. The word «Serene» comes to mind.
There are a few places in the city where you visit and feel like you have stumbled upon a local secret– and this is one of them.
