Tiburon Lockers

Like the previous reviewer, we were expecting the worst. But, since we were in town to spectate the Marine Corps Marathon and flying on to a business trip elsewhere afterwards, carrying a luggage bag all around town chasing after marathon runners was not going to work.
Here is our review breakdown:
Hours of operation: 5 of 5 stars. Dropped our bag off at 7am and retrieved at 5pm on a Sunday. No line both times and extremely prompt and timely check in and check out of bags.
Cost: 5 of 5 stars. For a large bag, $ 6/​hour or $ 30 day rate
Service: 5 of 5 stars. A hello and good morning greeting, polite requests for our expected duration and size of bag. A good understanding of the rates. Check in and pick up transactions completed within 1 – 2 minutes. No wait time.
Security: 3 of 5 stars. I took a peek and it looks like it’s just a hand written tag tied to your bag affixed by the attendant and the same number is printed on the receipt. The bags are all stored in specific spots in a large room just off the front desk. I’m speaking from a post ⁹⁄₁₁ mindset so I was ½ expecting to sign a waiver or get a quick TSA — type swab down like the MTA has in some of the subway stations. Consider this a request and not exactly a poor reflection on the company and service.
Most of the terrible reviews were around service and timeliness. Perhaps we were lucky or perhaps the negative reviews have deterred future customers. Whatever it is, thanks to the previous reviews, we were prepared to arrive at the lockers a little earlier to allow for a wait time and still drop-​off and pick-​up our luggage in time for our planned activities. We were also prepared to deal with not-​so-​nice service because bottom line is, the service of lockers is more important that service-​with-​a-​smile. Thankfully the previous issues experienced by previous reviewers were not an issue for us.

Was expecting the worst with these reviews, but took the risk because I was going to a networking event in a nice restaurant, and really didn’t want to show up with my backpack.
But everything went perfectly. The young lady who took my bag when I dropped it off was patient and friendly, and even gave me advice on what to do and see in Washington. I told her that the bag has some haphazardly packed breakables in it, and she slapped a «fragile» sign on my bag and was very careful with it.
I told her I wanted to pay for five hours. She asked me if I was sure, and I admitted that I wasn’t sure exactly what time I’d be back. She suggested I pay for only one hour, just in case, and that I could pay the remainder when I picked up my things, if necessary. It was a considerate suggestion, since I ended up only needing four hours. There was a different person at the desk when I came back, but she was pretty friendly and efficient as well.
It’s definitely pricey, but worth it if you have the need. It was also quick and convenient.

Very rude customer service on the phone. I called to ask the prices, woman answered with «I’m putting you on hold I got customers!» Okay, I’m a customer, and why did you answer if you are so busy but sure. Wait on hold like eight minutes, then I ask what are your prices. she says, «$ 6 an hour one bag, $ 11 an hour multiple pieces“which took all of a couple seconds, then she angrily says, «but we don’t like to be having to give out prices over the phone, we got customers!!”“and hangs up. Well excuse me for calling and asking a price, I guess I was supposed to show up at a train station with no idea if there is baggage storage and its cost. After reading the other reviews and talking to Miss Busy I’ll just forget my idea of walking around dc and just take a later train.

On a trip to see my uncle in NYC, my girlfriend and I used this locker service while waiting for a train. At the reception desk we found the service to be friendly and helpful and received our baggage in the same condition we left it in.
This is a very convenient service and I will use it again.

The service was great Anthony was awesome. He took care of us (me and my sister). He was polite and had a smile on his face every step of the way. Me and sister had difficulties with our bags at the capitol so we came back to the Union Station. We politely served by Tiburon Lockers. They rock! :)

Initially, this was a ZERO Star. The have a monopoly at Union Station in DC, and when I tried to check my bags the two clerks not only overcharged me, they threatened to charge me more for even trying to point out the rates on their own sign!
However, the main office immediately answered my complaint of overcharging, and promptly sent a check with the amount I requested. I suggested that instead of the vague guidelines they post on a distant sign, they adopt rates based on actual dimensions of the bag.
If they can hire clerks who understand it’s customer SERVICE, adopt some clear guidelines and reduce their prices, this could be a good place to store your stuff. Until then, avoid this place!

Smooth easy transaction, staff always pleasant and accommodating. I saw a lot of people complaining about price, but there is a cost for convenience! I would use Tiburon for my storage needs anytime while traveling.

Extremely expensive — these guys need some competition badly. Union Station: stop turning into a mall and renovating your pretty face and instead give actual travelers real services! Taking the train is so great in so many ways, but this little monopoly is a bad element.
That said, it was convenient to be able to leave two bags, and my fragile and valuable cargo (e.g. laptop) was not damaged (I did warn her it was fragile). Service had definite attitude and a delay (like one of us was on Mars… or constantly checking her smartphone), but was not unfriendly and did get the job done. I came back ten minutes late and she did not charge me extra. I expected to be gouged for all I was worth at that point, but it turns out they actually have a grace period of some kind.
What ever happened to public lockers for luggage? Is this a post-​9/​11 problem? I would use this place again, but only so long as there is no other option.

Way too expensive. Two bags, three hours, 24 bucks. The girl wasn’t even there when we came back! Definitely avoid if you have other options!

As the other reviewers have stated extremely expensive, brusque on the verge of being rude, but very convenient. They charged me $ 16/​hr for 6 items, two of which were small booster seats. You have to pay im advance so we paid for 3 hours. When I came back in 1 hour 52 min later they wouldn’t refund me the third hour. Mind you it’s cash only at this rip off joint so it was just a matter of opening the register. I told them they were wrong very politely and left. Try to avoid at all costs!

The prices steep, but extremely convenient. The real kicker is the exceptionally rude service from the employees. Not asking for them to treat my baggage like it’s gold but to sling it like a garbage bag was unacceptable. Especially after saying it was filled with breakables. Thank you for ruining my day.

Tiburon Lockers is a baggage storage service located in Union Station by Gate A. I used them for the first time this past week while waiting for my train to New York. My left arm is in a sling and I did not want to drag my suitcase around Union Station for a couple of hours while waiting.
I thought the prices for checking in a bag and having them watch it for a couple of hours was steep. But I went ahead and did it anyhow. Many other customers thought the same thing while I was waiting in line — a lot of people came up, inquired about the pricing, loudly exclaimed about the prices, and left without checking in any baggage. Fortunately for them, they were not partially/​temporarily disabled.
The other thing — the lady working the counter was, IMHO, a bit brusque in her dealing with customers.
For two hours, I was charged a total of $ 12.00. I hope to never have to utilize this business again.
