Misleading hours. Says they’re open until 2 am and they close at 11 pm.

This place is great. The owner is very friendly and helpful, they have a large selection of good wines and liquors. One cool thing is that if you suggest they carry something you like they usually start stocking it!

They have a good beer selection for a small liquor store, including a fair amount of fancy-pants craft beer. The guy at the counter is nice. But the selection seems to change constantly, so I often can’t get something I’ve purchased there in the past and am left to look up whatever new thing they have that I’m not familiar with on Beer Advocate and try my luck.

This is my little alcohol treasure trove that’s just 20 ft away from where I live. Friendly guy at the register. Great selection of craft beers. They carry my favorites!

Love these guys at Tunnel! They allow me and my doggy to shop. Really nice staff. Decent selection. Prime location.

I love this place. The guys who work there are super friendly, they have a great selection of wine for a small shop, and all the mixers and booze I ever need. Also, a great selection of yummy craft beers. Only complaint I have is that although they have lots of pre-chilled white wine, it’s difficult to navigate what’s in the wine cooler(to include pricing, which is only listed for the wines on display.) Not sure how the pricing compares to other places but for convenience, reliability, and pleasure of shopping, Tunnel gets my vote! (they also have wine and liquor tastings in the evening sometimes – bonus!)

SETTING: Snow day provisions. VENUE: 2 years old and looking rather nice(especially considering what Chinatown/Union Station area is used to offering.) Stained wood shelving, green painted façade.(Next to Papa John’s — Danger, Danger, two in one combo right there.) Petite interior, but not over crowded and nothing is behind-the-bar so you can simply browse as you like. OFFERINGS: «Better» and«regular» beers, «better» and«standard» liquors, accessories(bags, box sets, etc.) No hard cider, sorry. A bit more upscale than some.(Fewer plastic bottles, if any.) Don’t remember seeing a single bottle of wine. Odd, I know, but thankfully that was not the purpose of my visit. PRICES: Considering their likely rent and long-term vs. current flow of business(condos nearby haven’t all been sold yet…) their rates are reasonable. SERVICE: Helpful and friendly. No «buzz you in» needed as noted on a Google search. VERDICT: You will see me again, and not just due to your location and my quicker-than-some sipping of that which you provide.

This is by far the best liquor store in the area. They carry hard to find alcohol and beer, including great organic options(my boyfriend and I really like Square One organic vodka). The owners are as nice as you could possibly imagine. They remember your name and what you usually buy. The wine/spirit tastings that they have 2 – 3 times a week are always great. They also carry hard to find high end cigs.

This place will get a lot more popular when the Madrigal Lofts open up right behind them, but it’s doing fine so far. They have the largest beer and wine selection in the neighborhood, and are the only liquor sellers in the area that don’t also sell single-serves. The staff is nice and helpful, which makes up for the fairly skimpy selection. Their liquor selection is the best of their offerings, but the wine and beer will leave you satisfied, even if you don’t get your first choice. As I’m boycotting Chinatown Market and the other single-serve places, this is a solid replacement and currently the place to beat in the Mt. Vernon Triangle.

A unique selection of beers, a small room for red, a small room for white, nice selection of spirits and even cigars! Tunnel Wine & Spirits quietly opened up across the street a few weeks ago on the north side of 4th and Mass Ave! Conveniently located in the«not so scary» part of the neighborhood, Tunnel is only closed on Sunday and the super nice owner is more than willing to try to get any beer, wine, or spirit he doesn’t have in stock. Bonus star for NOT selling single serves!

We visited Tunnel Wine & Spirits today. Great addition to the neighborhood. They had more high end spirits and a unique selection of beers. The store is more than meets the eye. They have a white wine room and a red wine room in the back of the store. The store is going to have wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can sign up for their email list and they will let you know about them. They will also start letting customers register to get delivery soon. The store does not serve single serve beverages so that will help keep the loitering outside from getting out of control.
