I am very picky about my hair and was looking for a stylist that could care for my hair, and a great stylist. I was very pleased! The receptionist was very welcoming and the owner(Ms. Wanda) checked to make sure the clients were pleased, and she let everyone know that she appreciated our business. I highly recommend this salon, and continue to go there.

The first time i went to Wanda’s was November 2014. Im natural and i wanted a roller set. I met with a stylist, showed her pictures and a video of what I wanted. She guaranteed she could do it. So I scheduled an appt and went. The results were not optimal. She didn’t really know how to do a roller set on my type of hair(4c). I was super disappointed because it was supposed to be my birthday hair and it looked a mess… but I let it go because everyone was so nice. Fast forward to October 2015. I needed a deep condition, my hair straightened and my ends trimmed. Based on a recommendation from a friend who has a similar hair texture, she recommended i see a specific stylist at Wanda’s. I was reluctant because of my past experience but i really needed a trim. Going against my first mind, i went back and again i was disappointed. The stylist rushed through my appt, didn’t trim my ends(even though I urged her to because I knew I needed it) and didn’t fully straighten my hair. I walked out of there looking like I just washed and blow dried my hair, even though it was supposed to be pressed. Smh. I will not return to Wanda’s. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The only reason they get 2 stars is because they seem nice, but they aren’t skilled.

Came upon this DC gem by way of a good friend. Wanda goes to great lengths to make you feel comfortable and her staff is super friendly. I had a cut on both visits and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Wanda styled me on both occasions. The price is right!

Although a little mishap with booking Derrick for an afternoon appointment via StyleSeat, I was able to get in and out for my cut in an hour. They apologized for the technical issue and he hooked me up. I recently cut off my locs so I am a bit apprehensive about how I get my hair/lining since I do not want to appear masculine. He did an excellent job! The shop is easily accessible from Shaw/Howard Metro and next to my favorite tea shop on 7th only two doors down. Pricing is reasonable IMO for a barbershop, staff is customer friendly and its modern with great music playing to help you relax. I will definitely go back until I am ready to start my new set of locs

Brought my son in yesterday for a cut. Was referred to Rico by a friend. Rico did an amazing job on his head and cleaned up his beard too! It’s a cute lil spot!

I am from California and needed a good barber in D.C., well Im thankful that I found Wanda’s because its hard to find a barber that gets your vision right the first time! Dee Man at Wanda’s gave me a real dope cut with my fades perfect. The salon was very clean and nice with good music for entertainment not to mention Wanda was very sweet and courteous and the prices were very good. I would definitely go back anytime Im in town. Impressive salon and barbershop.

I’ve gotten a few haircuts at Wanda’s now and I’ve always been very happy. My first cut was a little fancier than the rest and I was quite mangey at the time — it had been a solid two months since my last cut. It turned out to be probably the best haircut I’ve ever gotten and at $ 35-$ 40(I don’t remember the exact price), I thought it was very reasonable by D.C. standards. I can’t remember the name of my barber/stylist but she was fantastic. Since then, I’ve returned for simple«trims» with several different barbers. Wanda’s has never charged me more than $ 20 for these cuts, which is definitely on the cheap end for this city. Also, the owner(Wanda) is extremely friendly and always makes a point to warmly greet her customers when she’s around. I usually just walk in without scheduling an appointment and have never waited for more than 15 – 20 minutes. From a simple trim to something more creative, it’s definitely the place to go in Shaw for any type of men’s haircut.

I always pass by Wanda’s and while it looks great inside I was always a little apprehensive about visiting a, «salon» as opposed to the more usual men’s old school barbershop. I was warmly greeted and b/c I didn’t have a regular barber I was taken to Joe, without having to wait. Like any person I’m always nervous about going to a new barber, especially one who’s not cutting when you get in, but he was great! Took his time, was focused/not talking or on his phone while cutting me, used the razor to make those perfect shape up lines, and I came out with that fresh cut feeling & attitude! The only con was the card machine wasn’t working properly when I went so I had to go get cash then come back but other than that I would def recommend!

Poor customer service! Horrible job at weaves do not go here messed up twice and refused to give me my money back! The stylist is a mess and very sloppy! The comment was your 100 won’t make or break us. But I guess that’s one right? But if multiple people stop going would it break them then? Never had I’ve ever heard of such of thing and been treated in such a way! This is far by the worst service I have ever received

I definitely recommend Vet for any of your nail desires. She is thorough and professional. She keeps my hands and feet looking spectacular all the time and at a very fair price. Oh and the most important thing for me is that she is American! No darn Vietnamese conversation going on in there.

I went to Wanda’s on 7th to get senegalese twists done, and while the salon was very clean and nice, I wasn’t happy with my experience at all. Before we started, I asked the person who worked on my hair how long it would take and she said 4 to 5 hours, which is typical and about how long it’s taken for me in the past. After 4 hours, I checked in to ask about how close she was to finishing and she said maybe another hour. She said the same thing when I asked again after 5 hours. When I asked again after 6 hours she just said hmmmph, so I asked again and her answer was just to say that she really didn’t know. At this point, it was clear that she was really frustrated with how long it was taking, because she kept commenting to anyone that spoke to her that she was tired, hungry, couldn’t wait to get done, would never do braids like this again etc. Of course, I was just as hungry and tired, and also confused about why it was taking so long, so it wasn’t helpful for me to just hear her complaints and get no real sense of how much longer it would take. It ended up taking EIGHT hours overall, and she was in such a rush when she dipped my ends in hot water at the end that they still ended up looking rough and messy and I had to dip them again myself at home. She didn’t even apologize after she accidentally flicked the hot water she’d just boiled on my face.(She also never apologized for taking twice as long as she had first said.) The end product was longer and thicker than I originally wanted, which I could have lived with if the process hadn’t also taken so long/if the attitude of the woman who helped me had been better. All in all, the salon was nice inside and everyone else who spoke to me was sweet and friendly, so I might consider getting something else done there but I would never go back for braids or twists.

Visiting from NY. Got a pedicure here. I rarely treat myself to such and when I do I don’t stray far from where I know but Vet truly took care of me. New pit stop every time I’m in DC.

I got my hair braided in two-stranded twists by Chichi and she did an amazing job as well as the price was very reasonable. She is professional, courteous, diligent and takes care of and respects her clients time and requests with regard to their hair care. Check out Wanda’s on 7th to get your hair braided ladies and they open on Sundays.
