Overpriced food with small servings in big dishes. Also asked for my food to be gluten free and they mixed pasta up with the veggies. Didn’t notice at first but after a mouthful I figured it out. The organic chicken was good but that is about it. The asparagus salad was boring and over priced. I wouldn’t bother unless desperate to stay in the hotel.

The restaurant is great, the food is amazing, I loved the truffle fries and the chicken. The mac and Cheese was delicious and the asparagus was tasty. The server Beniam is amazing. I enjoyed the cocktails. My friend and I stayed for 3 hours, the restaurant was so comfortable and relaxed, it was not noisy and the manager Maria was just amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return. Ade Park Hyatt Washington

Just heard that WestEnd Bistro is no longer serving dinner on Sunday and Monday nights. Not surprising. Rude hostess who isn’t customer friendly. #

We were staying at the Ritz Carlton so decided to give Westend Bistro a try. The Flat Iron Steak was excellent and was prepared with a great sauce but the duck breast didn’t have much flavor and was a bit disappointing. Very kid friendly restaurant with a good children’s menu.

We were staying at the hotel and got to visit there a few times. Food was pretty good. Service was very slow in two out of four times we were there. Dinner was decent. Had a steak with veggies that was nicely cooked. My wife had a salmon which was ok. Kids had kids friendly options like grilled cheese. Breakfast with the kids took forever until the server came and another good twenty minutes for the food to arrive which meant our day started much later than we wanted. Food was ok. It’s disappointing since service in the hotel is otherwise very good.

We celebrated my son’s 13th birthday here while on a trip to DC. The restaurant is fantastic with superb service. They went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic! My son wanted a Caesar salad, which is not on their dinner menu. Of course, they made one for him! He ordered the flat iron steak which was done perfectly. My husband and I split the best salad and pork chop. The portions are very good size and was the perfect size for us. The pork was perfectly done and so flavorful. The restaurant even provided my son with his favorite dessert! Hats off to the team at Westend for a truly perfect evening!

We had dinner in the upstairs restaurant and also in the downstairs pub. The food was excellent. The décor is very nice and this is our new favorite place to go in Purcellville. Also, their Valentine’s dinner prefix menu was out of this world. Each course was excellent.

I sat down at the bar and it was quiet but I was greeted instantly. Unfortunately they were out of the two things that immediately caught my eye, which I asked for(rose and the tuna app) but it was okay because you can’t go wrong with glass of prosecco. I ordered the beet salad and steak frites. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire meal but must confess the steam was top quality and cooked to perfection. The truffle fries rocked my world and I was beyond stuffed without even finishing my meal. The service was great and the ritz left me full and happy, per usual.

Christmas Day 2015 and a lot of things were closed… considering the special occasion I threw down the $ 50 for the breakfast buffet. The buffet came with everything of course… like everything possible and I made sure I got my $ 50 worth. The service was impeccable, too. I wish I remember the man’s name who served me but he was very welcoming and attentive. I don’t spend the money for breakfast like this often but it was worth it. Merry Christmas to me.

I have eaten here a number of times. Each time has been excellent. I like the skate especially as it does not often appear on menus. Excellent German trocken Riesling. Service is excellent. Top notch restaurant.

Located off the lobby of the Ritz Carlton, the Westend Bistro is a lively spot with large picture windows offering DC street views. The atmosphere might best be described as upscale casual; the tables are undressed(no table clothes!), but the staff was friendly without being intrusive and kept pace with the food. The bread basket was adequate, but not distinguished for the cost, and the wine list was on the pricey side(think $ 50+ for a «cheap» bottle). Starters were in the $ 12-$ 16 range($ 12 got you a nicely plated cauliflower soup, $ 14 a roasted beet salad and $ 16 a properly sliced – and fresh – tuna carpaccio). Mains were mostly in the high $ 20’s to low $ 30’s, including a nicely plated roast chicken with spaetzle, a grilled flank steak with frites and a seared duck breast(which would have looked better sliced into more than two pieces!) with parsnip purée. Deserts($ 10) were nicely plated, if a bit small for sharing. No amuse or other extras were offered to our group despite full orders of food and beverages from all attending. Rustic looking sides in the $ 10 range(mac and cheese, fried brussels sprouts) were ample for sharing. Seating, in addition to the bar, includes a mix of booths and tables.

5 Star cuisine and service, great with children! We weren’t sure how welcoming this restaurant would be for my wife and me and our one year old, since it’s fancy place located in the Ritz Carlton(though the hotel staff turned out to be very kid-friendly). Similarly, the restaurant staff were amazing: brought her toys to play with, doted on her, and made our lunch together a relaxing and stress-free experience — in direct contrast with our experience at another nearby restaurant. Then, there’s the food — incredibly fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the best salad Nicoise I’ve had outside France, and my wife enjoyed it so much that she returned with the baby later for dinner. And I bet we’ll be back for breakfast! C’est magnifique!

One of the best steaks I have had in a long time — lean, but still tender and juicy. And the frites on the side was plentiful and had the right crunch to sogginess ratio. The salmon was also very good — should’ve had it done medium rare, but the medium was okay. The selection of wine is varied(they have Grüner!) but their California red was robust. Service was exceptional, our attendant from El Salvador was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations.

Dined here for dinner after having a wonderful lunch several weeks ago. All four of us had the tuna tartare which was wonderful. We ate every bite. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the fries crispy. The halibut was also delicious with a lovely sauce. Will definitely put this on our list of repeat visits.

I walked into the Ritz to grab lunch with a friend. I’ve never heard of Westend Bistro before, but wow, it was impressive. The hostess, the manager and the servers were extremely friendly. I had the Lamb Ragout Cavatelli Pasta. It was incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and to order that meal again. I’m not quite sure about the other dishes, but my friend had the Duck Confit and enjoyed it just as much as I did the Pasta. It also has a really interesting, unique lounge on the way to the bar. I would definitely come again on a nice evening.

One of the best dinner experiences I’ve had so far in DC. And pretty cheap for what you get! I must say that I’m form Spain and I’ve been fortunate enough to taste some of the innovative dishes being prepared by top Chefs there, but what happened at Westend Bistro was on another level. We made a reservation for«The Pass», a two-seat table very different from what you get anywhere else(won’t tell any more about it in case you want to try it out). The only thing I’d say… you won’t need to go to the movies that day! From then on, just magic happened. Our sommelier, Ryan, was fantastic. People behind the scenes, Juan Carlos, Nate, Tyler, Mat, Paul and Jennifer, were also fantastic. The food was sublime, the transitional cocktail was original and exquisite and the desserts were just… well I’m speechless about the desserts. We ordered a 6-course dinner and let them surprise us with the selection. Only rule: no pasta. Not used to it, a little heavy for dinnertime. They kicked it off with a transitional cocktail, turning a classic Manhattan, after a couple of sips, into something else after popping the spherified Campari mix which was living in it. Afterwards we had a pretty interesting 4-course round of appetizers going from some baby veggies to delicious corn soup«seasoned» with popcorn. One of them, the zucchini salad, originally combined a handful blend of various types of zucchini and the result was pretty exquisite. For the main course we were delighted by the flat iron steak garnished by a very convenient selection of greens(normally comes with fries, but we preferred to change). Finally, dessert. And there’s only one way of describing them… Wow! The Sweetness came in the form of a chocolate coulant just perfectly accompanied by a rum ice cream and the Freshness came in as a Mimosa sorbet with a handful of original tropical fruits complement and… pop rocks! Incredible. The service was just perfect and so we were discussing about whether we would leave 18−20% for tip depending on the very big amount of money we were expecting to pay for the experience… and taran! Amounting for much, much, much less than expected the bill came. So we finally left 30% tip(and I still regret not leaving 50% or so). Overall, a huge experience which I definitely recommend to everyone that actually wants to be both surprised and delighted by a culinary+show+home-made experience in the, always competing and saturated DC eating-out scene.

Great service! For me, good service just makes the meal more enjoyable. The gnocchi was tasty, but lacked savory flavors. The Flatbread appetizer with caramelized onions and host cheese was a pleasant surprise. The ricotta cheesecake is decadent and white yummy!

A HUGE disappointment! We ordered a classic burger medium and when we cut it in half it was raw and cold.(Had this not been a shared item I would not have cut the burger in half). We sent it back and by the time we got the ketchup and mustard that was requested, the burger was cold again. It was served with a side of NOTHING @$ 18 We also ordered 2 chicken Cobb salads and thre chicken«Cubes» were SKIMPY. Definitely not an entrée lunch portion. My guess was the sum total of bacon, blue cheese, chicken and egg was less than 1.5oz of protein @$ 16. We selected this restaurant for it’s location to our hotel but expected more.

Hear ye, hear ye. If you frequent the Foggy Bottom/West End area of DC, and have yet to check out this bistro, YOUAREMISSINGOUT! My mom and sister brought me here for my birthday lunch recently, and I’m so glad they did. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile. We had made reservations thinking it would be busy, but we came in on a Friday before a long weekend, so the restaurant was quieter than usual, which I didn’t mind at all! As an appetizer, we ordered the Blue Bay Mussels — Saffron Broth, Fennel, Red Pepper Rouille, Country Bread. Full disclosure: I am a bit of a mussel-snob. Although they were good, and the presentation was excellent, it was my favorite. As my meal, I ordered the red snapper lunch special. My sister ordered the same. All I have to say about it is — YES! It was AH-MAY-ZING! Our mom ordered the salmon, and she was impressed by it as well. Because we went during my lunch hour, I had to cut our good time short, and let the server know that although we were thoroughly enjoying our meal, I had to hurry back to work and to please bring the check. He was completely gracious. I think I mentioned to him that it was my birthday as well. To my surprise, after we had paid our bill and were walking out the door, he walked over to me with a brown bag. Inside he had a slice of cake and candle! He let me know that even though I couldn’t stay to have the cake at the restaurant, he wanted me to still be able to celebrate. Talk about customer service with a smile! His efforts did not go unnoticed. My stomach and heart left happy.

After reading reviews, I was VERY exited to eat here! However, the meal was not as good as I had expected. Lets start from«best» — The profiteroles were excellent — a really yummy dessert where they pour white chocolate sauce. The mussels were EXCELLENT and huge for the price! The largest mussels i’ve seen around here, and the sauce was so good everyone was clamoring to dip their bread in it. the tuna carpaccio is OKAY, it tasted like nothing really, and it needed more lemon. Now the bad: They messed up our order, brought the wrong dessert, overcooked meat, and kept bringing all dishes to one person at our table, who was forced to hand them out to everyone at the table. It took 20 minutes for our dessert to come out, and more for our entrees. Enough to warrant 2 tips to the bathroom in 1 sitting! The duck serving was pathetically TINY, half the size of your fist. Not filling AND it was cooked well done, with a thicker exterior that was not tender. My steak ends were very abnormally hard and the entire steak did not have much flavor at all. The mac and cheese is awful, do not get it, everyone was disappointed. The Brussel sprouts were good but incredibly greasy, VERY greasy, why cant you just cook them in the oven instead of fry them like that! The best dish was actually the chicken The prices are high so I expected at least a decent serving of food

Stopped by here for a evening drink since it has an entrance right at the hotel. It’s a good place to unwind and they actually had happy hour specials after 9 pm, so I tried their mini burgers and mini fish cake burgers, along with their truffle fries. They were all good and it went nicely with the beers I had. While they do have more expensive items on their menu, I like that they have a mix. I also stopped by here the next day for breakfast and it was good. The oatmeal and french toast we ordered was a good start to the day. It is a little pricey, but it’s also connected to the hotel, so that should be expected.

Frankly, we were a little disappointed based on all the reviews on Unilocal. The atmosphere is quite nice, and the noise level was low. Disappointment began looking at the wine list. I know all alcohol is marked up but this seemed excessive. Only a half bottle was less than $ 50. And prices for typically reasonable Sicilian, Spanish, and even Rhone wines were way out of line at $ 65 to $ 80. Come on guys! A special appetizer of sweet breads was quite delicious but the serving was tiny, really only two bites, for $ 16. The mussels are a better choice, delicious and enough to share. Entrees off roasted salmon and pan sautéed skate were both good, the skate being the winner. The lighter fare trout was, however, a mistake. The trout cooked dry and dried out. Overall, a good dinner but not outstanding and not someplace I need to rush back to. There are so many better choices in DC now, and with better value.

SOGOOD. We had reservations for a weeknight and were seated immediately. It seemed to begin to get crowded around 7pm, so I’d suggest getting there before then to avoid the crowd. We started with the mussels. The portion is way bigger than I expected, and the sauce and bread are garlicy and delicious. For entrees, we got the duck(Roasted Breast, Duck Sausage, Cannelini Beans, Hakurei Turnips, Roasted Garlic) and the flat iron steak(Truffle Frites, Red Wine Steak Sauce, Herb Butter). Both were super tasty and cooked to perfection, but I especially liked the duck. Our waiter Binyam was wonderful! He was so attentive, and really funny. He helped make our dinner that much better, and even brought out some extra dessert they had in the kitchen. We were hesitant to try it because it was made with potatoes which we thought was weird. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name, but it was delicious! Tasted similar to a jelly donut, but was shaped like a cannoli. I’m normally not a huge fan of hotel restaurants, but I definitely recommend this place for a lovely classy dinner!

This is another overdue Summer Restaurant Week review and another experience I won’t soon forget. I’m a huge fan of Eric Ripert so I was really exciting about eating here. It was oddly empty for a weekday dinner service and during Restaurant Week no less. The service was a bit slow considering the lack of diners but the food certainly made up for that. For the first course, my friends I got the Calamari, Gazpacho and Grilled Peach Salad. The HUGE plate of calamari was perfectly seasoned and fried. The Gazpacho was refreshing and had a well-balanced flavor. The Grilled Peach Salad was simple but delicious. For our second course we got nicely prepared Pan Seared Red Snapper over sweet corn succotash, perfectly executed Fried Chicken over creamed spinach and beautifully plated Grilled Trout over green beans. My favorite was the Fried Chicken because it was just perfect. The whole grain mustard was just the perfect accompaniment. We rounded off dinner with Brownie a la mode, Peach Panna Cotta and Re-engineered«Root Beer Float». My favorite was the silky and bright Peach Panna Cotta. I could eat that every day. The«Root Beer Float» was my least favorite. It was a cool concept, but the root beer flavor was just too subtle. The dessert tasted okay, but just fell short for me. Overall, the food was great and the service was okay. It has a warm atmosphere and is perfect for date night or business lunches/dinners to impress a client. The restaurant week experience is worth a return visit on a regular night.

This was a great find via OpenTable… so glad we made the reservation and checked it out! The Westend Bistro isn’t as high end of a restaurant as some Ritz hotels have, but it was just perfect for what we were looking for! I shared a grilled peach and arugula salad with a friend, enjoyed the bistro lite fare chicken entrée that was moist and tasty, and our group shared the s’mores, olive oil cake and the chocolate yogurt mousse… all of which were delicious! Nice atmosphere and great service too!
