Simply put, their customer service cannot be beat. Ryan is always willing to bend over backwards and go out of his way to help out any customer, no matter how small of an order you are placing. I have numerous examples, including him having my order ready out front when he noticed me parking my car from afar, as well as remembering the specifics of an order over two years AFTER I placed it.
I cannot recommend them enough. If you’re looking for a high end shop for fine men’s clothing, look no further.

If you haven’t been to William Fox and Company you are missing out. This family-​run business was recommended to me by a friend and long-​time customer. And they are AWESOME!
In this day and age, you can go to the big retail stores (and deal with pushy salesmen on commission) or even buy your clothes online (good luck getting the fit right). But if you want quality fabrics that fit, you really need to find a local clothier and a tailor to take care of you.
I wanted something nice for my wedding and Fox brothers — Ryan and Billy — patiently helped me through the whole process of creating a custom three-​piece, including a couple or three fittings to make sure the fit was perfect!
I can’t say enough good things about William Fox & Company. In fact, whenever I’m downtown I try to find some time to stop in. If you’re looking for a great experience and well-​tailored clothes you should too!

There are so few real men’s clothing stores left that cater to a variety of styles, tastes, and body shapes. Unlike the mall stores, Wm Fox showed me they can fit me in professional and smart casual clothes.
I have purchased suits, sport coats, pants, socks, custom shirts and ready to wear shirts. Every customer is treated to personalized service. I have watched the way they handle people when I was just browsing and was impressed.
Is it expensive? Most things are made in the US, Canada, England or Italy. And in this case I found you are getting what you pay for-​high quality clothing made to fit.
It has gotten to the point where I have to stop myself from going in too often because I wind up spending money. But I get over it quickly and never had buyer’s remorse.
In general I hope this kind of store survives against the big retailers. Fox seems to have found a way and I keep coming back.

Since my original review in July 2011, I have purchased several more items from Wm. Fox & Co. I’m a big fan of their made-​to-​measure shirts, which are made in NJ. I’ve purchased nearly 20 of them over the last two years and they’ve held up well. Once you buy M2M shirts, it’s hard to go back to the store bought stuff.
Ryan Fox has been my primary contact there, along with his brother Billy. They’re good dudes who know their stuff and make customer satisfaction their first priority.

One word: customer service (it took everything in me not to put that in caps).
They have amazing customer service.
The impeccably well-​dressed boyfriend had made mention of wanting to buy new shirts for work and with Valentine’s day around the corner I could not think of what would be a better gift to give (I’m Ms. Practical). I walked into the small shop one afternoon wanting to purchase a gift certificate.
I think I was literally in the store for 30 seconds before I was warmly greeted by Ryan. We talked about the gift certificate and I mentioned that my boyfriend had allegedly purchased customized shirts from here before. Ryan asked me for his last name and provided his first name.
«oh yes, [boyfriend’s first name]! I remember him. As a matter of fact, I can show you the type of shirts he likes. They’re right over here».
The purchase was over a year ago but Ryan remembered it like it was yesterday. No computer look up needed. That in itself was amazing. We talked a little about the options: he could write out the certificate for two shirts, no price stated, which would allow my boyfriend to come into the store and pick out whichever shirts he wanted, and then Ryan would call me with the details and total of the order before running my card; or I could simply state the amount of the gift certificate and my card would be run for that amount that day.
I liked that there were options even with purchasing a gift certificate. I chose to stick to a certain amount and pay for it then and there. Boyfriend loved the gift and the process was all simple, and in a way fun. From the few minutes I spent there, I got the impression that these guys 1) Love what they do 2) know what they’re talking about and 3) are professional and provide superior product.
All in all, perfect transaction, not to mention I love supporting family businesses!

You could easily walk by William Fox and completely miss it, which would be an absolute tragedy. Do not let the window displays fool you, the variety and selection is second to none. Walk inside and you will be greeted by some of the finest clothes in Washington, DC. To make your experience even better, the service is exceptional, Craig Fox and his son Ryan understand what customer service is all about.
I can not reccomend William Fox & Company highly enough for the service and the clothes. I usually have clothes custom made but have found myself going to Fox more and more, because for me it is all about the service. It doesn’t hurt that I can be fit for a custom made shirt, suit, or sport coat in fabrics from some of the finest mills in the world as well.
So stop in, take a look, and experience what a true haberdasher is while you are transported back in time when customer service was important.

The last true haberdasher in Washington. It is the best men’s store in the city. Wm. Fox is a gem-​personal service, high quality clothing and accessories. While it is a small shop they have gone through the trouble to only carry the best made products. Not flashy, but timeless and classic. You’ll actually save money over time shopping here because you’re buying quality that lasts. The staff are wonderful to work with and care about their business. Definitely worth a visit.

Extraordinarily helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. This is an absolute gem of a store. Why go to a mall when you can shop at a place where all the merchandise is high quality and the people behind the counter know what they’re doing? I’ve gone here to just browse and BS with the salesmen about clothes and never felt pressured into dropping a lot of money (although I often walk out with a new shirt or sweater). Just a great place all around.
