This was a small general store when my mom was growing up and her dad would give her a penny after school so she could buy a Baby Ruth candy bar. It is now a wonderful place to sit, talk and relax while you have your coffee. I go every time I visit in Washington NC. Five stars from me for atmosphere and coffee and service and its awesome owner!

This little shop has great coffee! The best in town in fact. I always get the dark roast and it has always been fresh and very hot. The price is reasonable as well. Only $ 2.50(including tax) for a 20 oz cup. They have a sit down area inside and outside as well, and offer sandwhiches and pastries(which I have never tried).

These guys are awesome! Great coffee, great setting, friendly staff — forget The big chains, Coffee Caboose is the place to be! Didn’t try the pastries but they looked incredible. Will definitely stop next time thru the area.

My wife and I are locals and love this coffee shop. We don’t eat pastries(or at least try not to), so can’t comment on them. However, we give the Coffee Caboose 5 stars on the coffee and friendliness alone. This is a great small and very cute neighborhood coffee shop.

My wife and I spent a long weekend in the Washington area for my birthday. We tried several of the local establishments and enjoyed them all. The Coffee Caboose was recommended to us as a place to stop for a snack of drink from the minute we hit town. After some sight seeing we decided to give it a try. First impressions DO count of course and ours were positive from the second we pulled up out front. The owner greeted us and was very friendly. We chatted about why we were in the area and she proceeded to give us the history of the building and the surroundings showing us several old pictures and records. It was late morning and we had both had our coffee so opted for a couple of the Italian Sodas and a pastry. Both were scrumptious! Yes, a 6’4″, 300 pound man just used the word scrumptious! LOL This is NOT a Starbucks or Panera’s but would you really want it to be? The prices were quite reasonable, food and drinks delicious, and the owner couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive! I will be back and if you’re ever in the area DO stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

Average coffee served in styrofoam cups by a relatively sullen barista. Nothing wrong, nothing great.

The perfect coffee shop! The folks are very nice and the drinks are good. Scratch-made pastries too. We visit every time we are in town.

Slightly off the beaten path, but still very close to Washington’s waterfront, quaint décor, semi small selection of excellent coffee, latte, etc. options as well as fresh pastries from danishes to muffins & on. Local joints like this that are all about service & quality are in short supply, especially in small towns like this. But, the bottom line is, this is the best coffee shop around in this area.

Small shop on a quiet side street. Seems like a real local spot! We came looking for breakfast, but they don’t really serve food. It’s a very simple coffee shop with a nice selection of pastries — muffins, danishes, etc. I got a blueberry muffin and a latte, both were delicious! The place has a very casual feel to it. The indoor seating is very homey with newspapers and big tables. They have a bit of outdoor seating too. Definitely a great place to grab a coffee if you’re in town!

Love this place! This adorable building is made out of a train’s caboose. Because of that, seating is sparse, but who cares when you can grab a latte and go explore downtown Washington! The owner is super sweet and makes great lattes. Their pumpkin spice latte is great and they have soy milk, which is always a plus(for me). They serve baked goods from Britt’s Bakery and they are delicious!!! Her cupcakes are always moist and yummy and her cakes and so good, especially when you warm them up. Go there, hang out, meet the locals and have wonderful food and drinks!

Adorable tiny coffee joint… walking distance from Little Washington waterfront. Great way to use a historical landmark. Recommended if you have not been here before.

Mediocre coffee at best. Tiny location with minimal seating. The owner is getting better with espresso drinks as I have visited a few times over the last year. She gets two stars simply because she is one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. Here’s to hoping things improve.

My boyfriend and I drove to Washington, NC for the day and were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem of a coffee shop at the end of Water St. in Historic Downtown Washington. Attila, the friendly barista made us a perfect Latte and Britt the baker was there. We tried her Banana bread which was luscious and moist. They both made us feel very comfortable and recommended weekend getaway places for us to try. Highly recommended.
